Yesterday we discovered a wonderful gem on the Valais sun terrace St. German! A fine dining restaurant called Lauber that can easily be described as a real secret type! The food was excellent and the service friendly. The restaurant appears to have been recently overhauled, is beautifully designed and has its own charm. The view of the Valais mountains and the Rhone plain is an experience in itself. We would love to come back for a trip to St. German!

Was there at midday after a wonderful hike from Raron. We ate on the ground floor. The ambience matched the picturesque old village center perfectly. The terrace also looked very nice. The service was a bit sloppy, but very friendly. The food (stroganoff, beef fillet with salad, Valais plate) was excellent. Plate service with seconds, which I took even though I was already full. I don't have to say that I would recommend the restaurant because I sent a recommendation on the way back with the answer that it has been known for years that you can eat very well there.

The tablecloth, napkins and artificial flowers were pink. Ambiance was missing. The fact that the Chateaubriand came as a plate service really irritated us. We are used to having it cut in front of the guest. We can't boast about the service. At least the food tasted good.

We always enjoy doing the hike between Ausserberg and Raron because the main goal is in St. German. There you can eat wonderfully at the Lauber.
