Le Café du Laténium in Hauterive (NE)

The self-service restaurant is directly connected to the museum and offers a fantastic view of the lake and the Alps. The daily menus were okay. The starter salad was more of a string of vegetables, not a salad per se, but tasty. The pizza was okay, but they used canned mushrooms. The staff at the checkout were visibly overwhelmed by the lunch rush, but the staff in the kitchen were very nice. Unfortunately, none of the staff spoke either of the other two national languages ​​(Italian & German) or English so that communication would have been possible. I had to rely on other guests. So at least the restaurant terms should be known to the staff, especially since the restaurant is located next to a museum.

We arrived very late to eat, there was only two dishes and two dishes left on the menu, there were 4 of us, so it was perfect we couldn't choose, it was good...recommended if you don't have time to choose, reasonable and outside of hours which is appreciated .

The worst meal I've ever had. The meatballs with mashed potatoes were most likely a microwave-heated frozen-ready meal. Salty sauce, textureless balls and absolutely awful mashed potatoes. For 18.5CHF I would expect at least something of IKEA quality. Tomatoes in the salad were tasteless, and the sauce was one of these salty facotry-made ones. The pancake for 9CHF was not very good either. You'd get cheaper and better pancakes almost anywhere in Switzerland (including the city center). The visit to the restaurant almost ruined my otherwise positive experience with the museum itself.

Thanks to the friendly gentleman who prepared me a delicious hot Latte Macchiato (it's rare to get there!) and a succulent pear tart.

Avoid this place if you're hungry! Instead, go to the Restaurant le Silex which is 250m away. The Laténium restaurant is not worth stopping there. I find it really exaggerated to charge this price for a plate of lasagna that is probably frozen and tasteless ham and cheese pancakes.

Incredible service! I didn't take my wallet, the man made me a coffee anyway and told me I could pay another time. Made my day 😊

OK but no children's menu... for a family place, that forces us to pay full price for a normal dish and to throw away food... not cool...

D'une belle cafétéria adossée au Musée du Laténium, les gérants ont su tirer un bel endroit, avec un menu du jour et des crêpes succulentes. La vue sur le lac de Neuchâtel est magique, le mobilier très beau et cela est complété par l'architecture très réussie du lieu.Apparemment, ils proposent aussi des sandwiches très complets et une carte de desserts alléchante.Belle découverte pour une halte dans le secteur !
