Dine with 6 people. First aperitif (5dl Johannisberg, without anything salty), the next table also has 5dl wine, plus salty (probably a regular customer with Porsche), 4x cordon bleu, 1x cold meat platter and 1x raclette. Cordon bleu is already there after about 15 minutes. Made in the deep fryer, vegetables were cold, the cold meat platter came again about 15 minutes later. The 6th person was then actually asked what they were getting... a raclette... and we waited for this (everyone else had already finished eating), say and write over an hour. Your excuse is that the frozen raclette cheese normally takes 3 hours to thaw. If you do offer raclette, you should probably take the cheese out first. It's a shame when you read all the reviews.

An ideal restaurant after completing the via ferrata, it is located 5 minutes from the viewpoint. The prices are a little high like an alpine chalet. On the other hand, I tried the Mayen macaroni and I took a small portion, it was more than enough for 18.50, very good value for money. The mixed salad was a little small for the price (9.50 chf) The waitress is very friendly, smiling and efficient knowing that there was only her to serve.

Most amazing fondue and no doubt, one of the very best we have had! Charcuterie selection was also extremely nice 👌. Quality meat which tasted very special. We were too full to order the crème brûlée so we took the glacé sorbet with "eau de vie" and it was extraordinary too! And to top it off, the service was top notch. Can't wait to go back. Just have a few extra kilos to lose before after such a rich and delicious meal!

As customers, what would your reaction have been? A little respect for your customers please! Even though your loyal customers may seem familiar to you, nothing is taken for granted! We didn't know this restaurant and we went there for the first time on Saturday January 7, 2023. We immediately liked the very warm place when we entered. Wine served by the glass, a Johannisberg and a small Arvine to start the evening. On the menu, marrow bone followed by a cheese crust and a mushroom crust. All excellent. Qualified staff and a very friendly boss. So, we booked for Sunday 8th in the evening and tested the new formula (buffet) from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Green salad, bacon, ham, potatoes and above all good cheeses (raclette tommes...) a homemade tart to dream of at night. Very reasonable price for all these good products. A craft white beer from Mont Noble to accompany this meal. A beautiful wine list for connoisseurs. A walking path linking Vernameige and Nax “le Vieux Chalet” (25 minutes) avoiding taking the car. Hervé

The food here is delicious and service is very friendly. We had the fondue for two, the tapas of tapenade and olives on garlic bread with some hummus as well as the viande séchée platter plus a rally hearty steak au poivre. Dessert of crème brûlée and two sorbets. All super super delicious. It is a one man show so have patience and do book a table in advance to avoid disappointment. We saw the bone marrow dishes on the other side of the table and regretted we didn’t order the same.

Nous nous sommes arrêtés un peu par hasard et par une grande envie de nous remplir la panse, après avoir faire la via ferrata. Il était environ 14h00 et malgré l'heure tardive nous avons été très bien reçu. Nous avons pris un plat du jour le rapport qualité/prix est excellent.La terrasse est sympa et l'intérieur très typique.Nous y retournerons, c'est sûr, et cette fois-ci on se laissera tenter par la carte.Bravo à l'équipe du restaurant.

Il faut attendre 45 minutes pour nous servir une pierrade avec de la viande de mauvaise qualité (petit morceau de boeuf bizarement coupé, du lard gras, du lard à manger cru (pas fait pour grillé) et du poulet pas terrible, on a demandé un supplément de frites facturé 7.- et elles étaient sèches.Personne dans le restaurant pour un samedi soir, ça veut tout dire !!!

Je suis allée à Nax pour faire la visite du village, et c'est par hasard que j'ai trouvé ce restaurant. L'accueil y est très chaleureux, la nourriture délicieuse et les prix abordables. Merci encore aux propriétaires qui ont eu la gentillesse de me renvoyer un abonnement annuel de train que j'avais égaré chez eux, sans leur avoir demandé quoi de que soit. Nous étions à la recherche d'une petite station de ski, pour pouvoir skier en famille et nous sommes allés à Nax par hasard....Après cette journée de ski, nous avions tous très faim...nous nous sommes arrêtés "au vieux chalet"...Nous avons agréablement été surpris par le cadre cosy....nous avons pris la table à côté de la cheminée (je vous la recommande)...Bien sûr pour commencer , nous avons pris une assiette vieux chalet (valaisanne), ensuite une fondue thailandaise, la potence, le steak de viande d'hérens....bref un régal...on s'en est mis plein la pense et bien bu aussi...en plus les patrons sont super sympas...et nous ont offert le digestif maison à base de verveine pour digérer...bref, un grand moment culinaire, dans une bonne ambiance et un cadre chaleureux tout en bois, avec une addition très correcte...

Après avoir essuyé deux refus dans des restos de la station qui ne servait plus à manger alors qu'il était à peine 13:00, nous avons atteri au Vieux Chalet où on sert à manger non-stop.Bernadette, cuisinière hors pair avec le coeur sur la main, nous a préparé une fondue extraordinaire! Aussi loin que je puisse m'en souvenir, la meilleure fondue de ma vie!Avant cela nous avons pris une petite assiette de viande séchée, qui a été préparée avec soin et amour du détail.C'est sûr qu'on reviendra souvent au Vieux Chalet pour déguster d'autre spécialité de la maison.

Nous y avons testé la viande sur ardoise et la fondue tomate. Le tout était très bon ainsi que les vins. Accueils super sympa et convivial! Très bien!

Endroit très chaleureux, les patrons très sympathiques. Les plats délicieux et les assiettes bien servies! Nous recommandons cet endroit les yeux fermés :-)
