+ Brunch was very good. The Rösti was particularly praiseworthy. - The Ovaltine was way too sweet. - When I finished drinking the Ovaltine, I noticed an object at the bottom of the glass, which turned out to be a dark shard of glass!! A serving girl was asked about it. Her reason: “It comes from the Ovaltine can” and apologized. After this statement I was a bit "stunned", especially since it wasn't really appropriate. That could have ended badly!!!

Our stay began during the week with a crowded parking lot. Reception is less the case. Service was friendly but left quickly and unfortunately I couldn't be contacted if I had any further needs, it's a shame... Unfortunately, the croissant was very dry, the hot chocolate was much too sweet…. Tea had no taste. All in one, despite the usual Swiss prices, far too expensive...

This café and restaurant has been my lunchtime retreat for years. Here I can briefly recover mentally and quickly help myself to the buffet. The fine soups vary daily and the salad buffet is extensive. I eat a vegetarian diet and the staff are very friendly about any extra requests you may have. My suggestion to include milk alternatives in the range was of course accepted. The employees are attentive and very accommodating. The selection in the bakery/patisserie and the many fine desserts are also worth praise. What I further appreciate are the parking spaces available in front of the building. Small disadvantage: I prefer a physical menu card to a digital QR code card. You have to replace it often and it may no longer be as up-to-date, but it still serves all guests, even if you don't have a cell phone with you. However, I think there are a few physical copies available at the bar. I observed a few times that parents with noticeably "bright" or even spoiled children disturbed the guests present and the staff had to ask the children to quiet down. Unfortunately, the quiet criticism from an employee recently went the wrong way for the very young mother, resulting in a mild storm in a teacup. The employees reacted calmly, calmly and in a controlled manner. This was probably not the first time the mother had heard such a critical comment, hence her unexpected overreaction. Nota bene, upbringing is not necessarily a question of age...

The short-haired woman was very unfriendly and unmotivated. Very disrespectful towards children and no tolerance. I would not recommend people with children to visit Maier in Gretzenbach. Never experienced such a rude employee.

Open very early in the morning. I was able to drink 2 coffees comfortably and undisturbed. The service was very nice and attentive.

I get burger bread for my restaurant every week. The employees are always friendly and the quality of the bread is also very good. I can only recommend it.

The restaurant is actually very good, until Sat/Sun when it is very busy. There should simply be more staff there on these days. Now really the last time at Cafe Maier! On the way to visit, grab something for breakfast, Sunday morning at 9 a.m. only 5 croissants left, seriously? Calling them croissants borders on a crime. On the inside, they were completely doughy and really horrible. The service was completely unmotivated and simply threw everything into the bag! After the already bad experience at the last brunch on site, Caffe Maier is definitely over for us.

Today, Sunday, January 22nd, 2023, we stopped by their café with great anticipation. The restaurant was very busy and we therefore understood the waiting time. After 20 minutes, however, we repeatedly made our presence known, but without words we were ignored. During a further and final attempt, the employee replied to us with harsh words: "I can't be everywhere". Unfortunately we didn't see ourselves as welcome guests and left. No clear concept was apparent. Idle again and again. They placed orders and waited for them! During this time you could have cleared tables or taken a new order. From our point of view, the tasks were not clearly distributed. Conclusion: We didn't feel like guests or welcome. For our part, we will draw our own conclusions and will certainly report it to those around us. It's a shame, because from my personal point of view it has great potential, but it doesn't seem to depend on every guest and can forego the income.

Ordered breakfast, initially everything was ok. It gradually filled up. But there were 3 people in service. There is a lack of collaboration here. This point should be worked on. It makes a bad impression when you walk past tables that are overcrowded, and it doesn't look good when you're promised that you'll come straight away and after another 18 minutes this hasn't happened. Furthermore, you should not approach your own family who is present 20 times and communicate too loudly about everything that is wrong. The guests hear it, and that's harmful. Not recommendable ! I was here before about 5 years ago and wasn't impressed...but wanted to give it another chance...since there were a lot of people there, I was hoping it would be better...none... The staff is unfriendly, especially the service... the quality of the products is extremely poor and stale but the prices are hefty... and you have to wait forever... that was definitely my last chance ever again! Long-time guest and what I've been experiencing here lately is just sad - I've rarely experienced such poor service. Employee "Gabriela" is just cheeky - something like that is unacceptable. I ordered an espresso - a latte was brought to me - I told her that I had ordered an espresso and not a coffee and her answer was: "Yes, I've noticed that now and I don't have to worry about it." of that - In addition, the opening times/website are online until 6:00 p.m. & there is a note on the door until 5:00 p.m. - thanks for that, the doors were closed!

On Sunday we wanted to have a café at 4 p.m. in beautiful weather. All tables were marked reserved. Should the entire terrace be reserved after asking the service staff? Why were all the parasols closed? Service staff were simply too lazy and because the café closes at 6 p.m. everything was closed much earlier. Just not customer friendly. Don't need it anymore. A pity.

Bad service, waited 15 minutes. We were ignored. That was not the case before. Frequent personnel changes. I wrote to the owner Maierbeck Laufenburg. We used to go there as a group more often and it was always okay... We won't be coming anymore.

Strange service employee was kind of annoyed, there were 4 of us and we all looked at each other and said the same thing. If you don't feel like working, then contact the social welfare office. It doesn't matter anyway, we pay far too much in Switzerland anyway. It's a shame that we paid for such a good service.

Saturday morning, one third of the outside area occupied, practically empty inside. After waiting for almost 10 minutes, I politely asked the waitress, after she had already walked past me numerous times, whether I could order something. She shouted at me that she would be there soon. Of course, she then walked past me four more times without taking an order. After another 5 minutes I was finally able to order a coffee and croissants. I have never had such nasty and unfriendly service, not even remotely.

One week ago a mother and her child went to Cafe Maier in Gretzenbach. They ordered a Cappuccino and a free Kindersirup for the child. Once the mother and the child went to the pay desk with the card, the waitress wanted to charge for the kindersirup and refused to give it to the child for free. She did not mention this before that the Kindersirup was not free. She did not ask what size the child wants and they do not have an age restriction for the free Kindersirup on their price list. We must say that the waitress was also very rude when she spoke to the mother and the child. The mother asked first why the free kindersirup is not free anymore but paid since she did not want to make a fuss. Today the mother went to the Cafe Maier again with her child. This time another waitress said that indeed, it is possible to give the Kindersirup to the child for free (1 dl).This was okay for the mother and the child. While the mother and the child were waiting and playing a card game, the other waitress from one week ago stormed aggressively towards the mother and the child, shouting at them in front of all other guests. It was really a bad behaviour of that waitress, unprofessional and humiliating to shout at them in front of other guests. On top of all this, it turned out that she even overcharged, charging a higher price for the kindersirup which is not even on the Cafe Maier list (see attached). It was really a bad experience and we got even overcharged for it. Sadly, it was not the first time often we had various items and amounts on card or a large cappuccino when in fact we did not have it or only a small cappuccino instead of a large one. After todays humiliation and unfair treatment and even getting overcharged we will not go back there. The child also mentioned that they hardly put any sirup into the water and that it does not even taste like a sirup. On top of all this, in a shock reaction the child lost a card of the card game. After asking the waitress what might help to get the playing card back she very rudely just said oh we cannot do anything about it and cannot help to get it back to the child. The mother has been a good costumer there under the management of Mr. Maier since many years. However, given the unacceptable service of the waitress and the humiliation of the mother and the child in front of all other guests and without an apology, on top overcharging for it, we will not go there anymore.

Four of us went to brunch at Kaffi Maier on Sunday. Unfortunately we were first served by an unmotivated waitress. The food was ok. Muesli was great, 3 minutes fried egg slightly burnt and Rösti was ok. Chairs are too big for the tables (very close together). Note: Order the drink first and then the food (otherwise the waitress will be overwhelmed). What struck us positively was that the reservation for the outside area was made at our request and we were given a shady place due to the heat. Conclusion: There are better places for brunch.

I wanted a wholemeal clay roll 😀 unfortunately we didn't have any left 🤔 but the very friendly waitress offered to make the roll I wanted 👍 with Fröide I gratefully accepted the offer 🤗 thank you very much for this great service 😀🌷

Nice place, went to get cakes and coffee there. Desserts include non-Swiss-standard cakes. Coffee was average quality. Great indoor and outdoor seating, there are occasionally smokers in the outside area though.

The three of us had a meal today. The outside of the cafe was moderately busy and there were no customers inside. The Romanoff and the Denmark only came after a long wait, the banana split took another 10 minutes to arrive. According to the serving staff, this is the most time-consuming to make. Halve 1 banana and add 2 scoops of ice cream with decoration, bad excuse! Never again!!!

Bought a piece of cherry cake for the second time today because I thought this time it was better than the last time. An absolute impudence and “catastrophe”. Totally dry (probably several days old), not a drop of kirsch. Apparently you have to “drip it on yourself”. Never again!!! Everyone at the retailer is better... Other pieces of cake are also not convincing at all.

Place half empty. Waited 15 minutes for a beer and 2 cokes. Ordered 3 tarte flambées. took forever. I have no idea what it was, this greasy mess had nothing to do with tarte flambée. Ordered ice cream. what a blast! Ice cream riddled with pieces of ice!! Total failure.

Bought dessert pieces, carrot cake and Black Forest cake, unfortunately very poor quality and not at all good to eat, I had had better pieces in other bakeries! Very small pieces and quite dry, I will never buy anything there again, too bad for this price. Conclusion: simply very poor quality!

I was annoyed. Wanted to pick up some delicious pieces of cake for my birthday on Thursday. There aren't any, just the usual fruit slices that are too big and fattening and boring vermicelle cakes that no one wants to eat at the end of winter. I recommend everyone to go to Beck Mathys in Schöftland, you will never be disappointed.

I was there recently. After 10 minutes of not paying any attention to me at the counter, even though they had seen me, because it was more important to wash the cake trays. Went to the Maier in Gretzenbach today, July 21, 2022. Absolute disaster! Waited 15 minutes, everyone else was served before us. Everything is at the cheapest level when it comes to food and the brunch is an absolute disgrace! Not like that, we will never go to a Café Maier and buy anything again!

I expected more. We left after the Kafi because it wasn't worth 8.80 for our taste.

But top quality also has its price....😉

Seen by chance on a rainy lunchtime in April while looking for coffee and ice cream. With a lot of luck there was still a free table and we were able to enjoy a fine Käfeli and ice cream... Mhhhh... Today I went to Kaffee Meier Gretzenbach for brunch for the second time and also for the last time. The buffet, which shouldn't really be described as such, was very sparsely stocked. 2 types of soft cheese, no butter, jam was probably only intended for people over 1.70m. No braid, the bread slices are halved and all for the price of 33.00. Even if you go out to eat as second guard, you still expect the same thing as at 9 a.m. I'm disappointed. Unfortunately not, my dears.

The café is on a main street and is easily accessible even with a wheelchair. Terrace enlarged and expanded, the disadvantage here is the traffic noise, but it didn't bother me. Since there is a relatively long operating distance for the staff on the terrace, you have to place the order yourself at the counter. But the service is normal. The goods consumed are transferred to a type of credit card that you can use to pay at the checkout. “No waiting time until the waitress has time”. I think that's good.
