Mekong Beizli Huynh in Bern

ordered yellow curry for take away and it wasnt even a crowded day but the got fried rice instead of the yellow curry and when i called they told me they could imborse me 5fr the next day for that?????

It is now too expensive in the Mekong for the quality of the food. Every medium takeaway offers better Asian food. The ambience is ok. Due to the short slot of 90 minutes, everything seems very stressed and uncomfortable. You are served by several people at the same time, which seems a bit chaotic. Especially towards the end of the meal, we were told several times that we would have to leave the table soon, even though there were still several free tables around.

Service very bad!!!!!!!!! Rude and unaccommodating!!!!!!! The menu is confusing and when we asked, we got an incomprehensible reaction from the lady. She left us feeling a bit stupid. Ate under time pressure and the bill came without asking. It ended up being typed incorrectly. All in all, the food was very good, but the poor service/time pressure didn't make the stay enjoyable or enjoyable. Therefore not recommended!!

On walking in, I was told I would only have 90 minutes to eat. Food was beautifully presented but mediocre. They have done a lot with a small space but the prices aren't in line with the portion size.

Lunch menu has become too expensive. I understand that you have to cover the costs. But in 2 years 4 francs more?

The reservation by phone already worked. I was very unsure because the woman on the phone spoke very poor German! A little confused, I was asked from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. or from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Ok, so it was clear that we had to hurry up with the food. The food came very quickly, was warm, but the meat (chicken) was very hard and dry. Marinated in a too sweet sauce with lots of canned pineapple and carrots. I don't have to go to a restaurant for a Chicken Sweet & Sour like this, I can cook rice at home, fry the chicken and add a glass of OnkleBenz sauce to it! The bill came unsolicited shortly before 7:30 p.m. Just as if you were saying: Pay up and get out! There wasn't even time for coffee! Well, for SFr.-29.50 plus 4.- for the portion of rice I think it's very excessive, I've had better for less money! The ladies in the restaurant speak little to no German, so the whole thing is in English!!! It's a shame that the whole ambience is also very narrow, dark and simply "managed"!

We ate here a month ago and the food was very good but the service was poor. We thought we would try again but we did not even order our food as the two women were so rude to us we left. Our first visit they moved us off the table immediately after 90mins. Our friend cannot drink fast due to a medical condition and asked if we cld sit at the bar to finish the drinks. They were extremely rude and kept pouring the drink to indicate they wanted us out. Then our second visit we arrived early and were told please wait (there was no one in the restaurant), then told explicitly you have extra time as you are early but you must be out by 19.30. Then they "barked" at us if we wanted drinks, we advised we could order everything to save their time. Their body language and speech is like being in a prison and that your mere presence in their restaurant is an inconvenience to them. Sadly the credit to the kitchen cannot be given as despite the food being good the front of house experience is hellish. Avoid.

I tried this place multiple times now and maybe I am just ordering the wrong things but I don’t really like the dishes. They seem to be lacking flavour and seasonings. Also the garnish is ridiculously large and dry. Love the tree decor. And one of the waiters was very friendly while the other was professionally distanced which is ok.

We came spontaneously and were lucky that there was still a table available, an hour later it was already completely booked. The food was delicious, the staff was very friendly and the decoration with the tree and flowers made the place cozy. Absolute recommendation, we will definitely come back when we are in Bern again.

The only thing authentic about this restaurant is the mean attitude from the personnel and the greed for money. The staff was rude and unwelcoming, the price ist outrageous for the food and service they provide. You get the impression the only thing they want is for you to sit, pay and leave. Food or service isn't their priority. please consider wisely before booking or coming, I've learnt my lesson and I hope you wouldn't have to.

The red fish curry was very great, definitely recommended! Crispy, not soggy, great! It was advertised as a (lunch) menu, but there was no drink, soup or dessert. That doesn't work!! A menu is more than just a main course. Everything around it fit so far, so only a * deduction.

Luckily we got a table pretty spontaneously. The food was great and the service was really top. Highly Recommended!

The decor is very nice. There is no network in the restaurant. We were there on a Saturday lunchtime. The food was good. Around 1 p.m. the restaurant quickly became full, so I would recommend making a reservation. What was strikingly said again and again was "there's only the lunch menu" "that's just the lunch menu", it was said in a "derogatory" tone, which is a shame. After all, there are 4 menus to choose from on (Saturday) lunchtime, and there is also a rice and egg noodle soup. The lunch menu selection does not match what is stated on the website.

One of the most amazing staff that I have ever come across at a restaurant, my friend & I got there late yesterday and they still accomodated us with a friendly smile and patiently took our order. The food was also great along with the cozy vibe & atmosphere. The 2 wonderful ladies who were managing the restaurant last night are the people who really make a difference and make a restaurant stand out. Highly suggest to visit the place if you are in Bern and looking for an amazing restaurant.

Very good restaurant overall but very very very expensive for what it is. Let me explain. The curries are relatively and the rice is not served automatically why? I don't know what's the point of having a curry if you don't have white rice as an accompaniment, it's the first time I've seen that in a Thai restaurant so be prepared to pay 4 francs more for rice... And be careful, the tap water is also very expensive, 6 francs per liter... it was good but very expensive for what it was, 100 francs for two people... I wouldn't go back.

The Mekong Beizli is a little hidden in the passage between Aldi and McDonalds at the Zytglogge stop. At lunchtime there are alternating inexpensive menus which are very good. Every Thursday there is duck on the menu, which tastes delicious. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The interior decoration is unique. I stop by there occasionally when I'm nearby.

Anyone who enjoys Asian food is in good hands here. Good food, great staff, everyone incredibly friendly. It's definitely worth eating here! My favorite Asian restaurant in Bern!

No etiquette on how to talk to customers. Rude and unprofessional staff that look down on you as if they are doing a favor. Staff needs some attitude adjustment. One should not visit this restaurant till they bring down their attitude!

Atmosphere and food was okay, but the women working there was a very unforgettable experience for me. They keep putting pressure on me and my friend on choosing a specific duck menu that we didn't want in the first place. They were like robots only advertising a specific menu and not allowing us to process what else they had in the menu. I really didn't like those women near the cashier

The food is incredibly good and we had the midday menu and it was spectacular. The prices are super affordable. I totally recommend it

The Mekong is fine and was very popular with us. Meanwhile you are complimented out after 60 minutes. If you come in and don't have a reservation, you'll get yelled at. In the future we will avoid the Mekong.

My family’s favorite restaurant we ate at while visiting Bern - we ended up going twice! The service was wonderful, the staff was friendly, and the food was absolutely delicious. Great papaya salad, beef pho, and noodles. If you’re in Bern you have to go here! My mom compared their food to her family’s authentic Asian food. I can’t say enough great things about this restaurant.

However, the operation leaves a lot to be desired. After the last person in our group had finished eating, the bill was slapped on the table within minutes (!) with the words: “Here's the bill, I'll come collect it straight away.” However, we hadn't even ordered the bill We were in this area of ​​the restaurant for the shortest time - various guests sat there for a longer time and there was also a free table for two. It would have been appropriate to provide advance information here instead of simply showing us at the door. An absolute no-go! The staff doesn't seem to agree with each other who is responsible for which tables. which tasks have already been completed. Since there were three of us, we found out whether we could each have a large spring roll as a starter. This was not possible because the rolls were only sold in pairs. I find it very incomprehensible that there is no accommodation here. In general, the staff seems very unmotivated to do what they do. It's a real shame, the restaurant had potential.

Authentic Asian food, good and friendly

We wanted to celebrate our 50th birthday with 7 people but could only have done so in a time window of 1.5 hours, although we have been regular guests for over 10 years. Very unfortunate and disappointing! The food is good and the service is friendly.

One of my favorite restaurants!

We have known MEKONG for over 20 years. We have been lovers of the cuisine since we were there for the first time. Ambiance, service etc. Unfortunately, the change since the renovation has taken a negative course. The food is still great, thanks to the kitchen. New, more modern dishes, what a shame! I miss tradition. Certain drinks have been canceled, what a shame! Same price but smaller portions, what a shame! 3 meal times 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m 7:30-9 p.m 9:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. very unfortunate. You are told how long you can stay. Unfortunately for us we only have to process customers. Finish with an aperitif, starter, main course, possibly dessert, coffee and a plum wine and enjoy. The 1.5 hours are not enough for that. It's a real shame, we've loved being your regular guests over the last 20 years. Wish you all the best and hope the tactic works.

The food are very yummy but don’t have that much options. Mostly authentic Thai and Vietnamese food.

The food was very good! However, the majority of the service was almost rude and constantly pushed us. Very unfortunate.

The food is very good, but you are treated like a number. At exactly 7:29 p.m. the waitress comes and says she now needs the table for the next guests. No please, no thank you, “everyone out this door,” no goodbye. A pity. We've never experienced anything like this before. No matter how good the food is, we definitely won't be coming back. The Mekong used to be our favorite place. Not anymore! Cheeky, arrogant, arrogant service. The descendants have probably gotten into their heads and no longer need to be hospitable! It's been a long time since I've been treated so unkindly, this place is all about profit! It's a shame, I'll never go there again and can't recommend it anymore!

Bad service, dissatisfied flavors

I visited on Saturday for lunch. Only lunch menus are available. I had a great time before but this noodle was a bit disappointed. But the red dish with rice was good. I recommend you to go dinner time and try other menus!

The most dishonest restaurant I've ever encountered in the whole of Europe！！ I can tolerate the taste of the restaurant is not satisfied but can not tolerate the dishonest restaurant. We are seven poor students. When we order food, we emphasize many times that we only need free water for drinks. Then the waiter brought a glass bottle without a cap, which everyone thought was filled with water from the tap. But the bill was charged 6 CHF. We did not care it because we naively thought that the waiter did not hear clearly and that bottle with no cap and filled with unknown liquid may not be tap water. But the most interesting thing was that when we were about to pay, the waiter took back the bill and said she had made a mistake, She said the water she served us is mineral water and the price should be 10.5 CHF instead of 6 CHF. As we had to catch a train back to France, we had to pay it and had no time to argue with them. In short, if you are not a local, please check your bill well.

I had shumai, rice noodles, and shrimp fried rice :) The employees were really friendly and the interior was pretty!! I think the rice noodles would have been perfect if they were a little hotter. The food is all delicious, but you can feel the evil Swiss prices.

Nice place with pretty flowers on the ceiling. On Saturday you can choose between four menus, three of which were very similar and one was a Thai menu. The fried noodles were delicious and the freshly hand-carved decoration was a nice detail. But the food was otherwise rather average.

The food was great But the service of the staff was a catastrophe. After eating, we had the bill slapped on the table in no time. With the sentence I'll come and collect it straight away. Upon request for veggies I received a small plate with soybean sprouts, sliced chillies, mint and parsley. The wonderful duck dish was more expensive (ca. CHF29) and only had a few tablespoons on the plate and half a carrot as garnish...? The staff is mediocre. The restroom small but clean. The small restaurant was a bit hidden in a blink and you'll miss it kind of way. The ceiling with the red flowers and bulbs is an eyecatcher! Will definitely eat Vietnamese cuisine again, just somewhere else probably ;-)

Cute little Chinese restaurant with good food very close to the clock tower. The menu of the day is ideal for lunch at midday.

We were there last night. When we wanted to sit inside, the service wanted to move us to another table. Why we didn't get the table we wanted is a mystery. When we wanted to sit outside, the service just said: If necessary. The food was great, but the service last night: catastrophic. When we wanted to leave, you just said: there's probably no time left, we have to leave. What's that supposed to mean? In our business, I can't say to the customers: I probably don't have any more time. Be that as it may, this will be our first and last time there if the service doesn't improve. There are other better Asian restaurants. Oh yes: the service preferred chatting with friends rather than taking care of us. We had to go inside every time we wanted something. The service didn't bother to even set foot outside.

Prices are rather at the upper limit for what is available. For 2 people over 100.- without dessert or alcoholic drinks, only one meat dish. I find the side dish prices (fried noodles) which are charged at 12.00 in addition to a dish to be a bargain! The soup as a starter was delicious, but for the main course the duck was a bit tough and too salty for my taste. The fried noodles were good. The service was friendly. Conclusion: It was worth a visit, but I would choose another Asian restaurant in the future.

Staff is not friendly! we did not feel welcome at all. We understand that prices are high in Bern but this was way too expensive and overpriced considering the poor service and mediocre quality of the food. Would not recommend this place at all!

Staff showing no interest or enthusiasm, the restaurant is WAY to expensive for the quality of the service and the food and the location is poor. We hate that we had to pay so much money for such a sad experience. The Chicken in the Sweet Sour dish tasted like cheap, 3 times reheated fried Chicken that was dry and almost unchewable. You pay 30 CHF for one Curry and 5 to 7 CHF for the rice! The rice is not even included for 30 CHF!! That is ridiculous! It's also stupid that they didn't have a children's/baby seat. The only positive things I can say is that one woman at least tried to be nice and the Green Curry and fried rice were ok.

Despite the busy restaurant, the food was served quickly. Quality/quantity >good. Beautiful carved vegetable decoration. It's a bit annoying that a bowl of normal rice is charged separately at 4.; with menu prices around 30.-! Price/performance ratio ok. but rather expensive (in the upper range).
