Milchmanufaktur Einsiedeln in Einsiedeln

We were looking for a fun family activity and came across this establishment. We booked the milk/cheese tour and it did not disappoint! Tracy was our guide and showed us around and explained the history behind the manufacturing plant (So interesting). We sampled 14 flavors of yogurt! Only two (if I remember correctly) had added sugar, the rest were flavored with natural fruit! You know the product is fantastic when you kids gobble it up, who are normally picky! It is a shame we can not get this quality of yogurt in the US! The do not use preservatives and therefore it can't be shipped to the US. The cheese was fantastic, as well. Great quality. Highly recommend.

I always like to stop here after the short hike from Einsiedeln, Eggmattli and the ski jumps. Very friendly staff, nice atmosphere and very good cuisine.

Very fine fondue and large portions

It was great, but the prices for “to go” things are a bit steep. But you also support local businesses and so I can live with that. And you can see the ski jump from the toilet.

I was able to celebrate my birthday on February 29th, 2024! I can only rave! Like all of my guests! After a great aperitif with fine cheese, meat and vegetable dip, a wonderful “Surä Mokä with Gummelstungis (Sauerbraten with mashed potatoes in German) and vegetables followed. It was awesome, delicious and feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeety! This was followed by the cheese production event from yesterday to today! We were able to learn and there was a lot of fun and joy from the team Robert on the cheese kettle and Francisca on the modern cheese production part! My guests were thrilled! After coffee and cake, as well as a small private concert, which we were able to enjoy on the premises, it was finally time for work! Conclusion; Great team, people who worked for us, with a lot of empathy and skills (cooking, cheese) nothing better could have happened to me for my party! Thank you dear Milchmanufaktur team! You were awesome! I can only report positive things!

Be sure to try the Fondue Cordonbleu, which is new on the menu. It fits the ambience here so brilliantly ❤️❤️❤️ The service staff are super attentive, friendly and also explain the dialect words on the menu that you don't know/can't assign. The ambience fits very well with the show dairy and gives you a feeling of well-being even with a large gathering of guests. The menu was designed to be medium in size so that despite a good selection, the quality of the food does not suffer and every bite is a pleasure. My personal conclusion is very clear: If you don't want to go home with a stomach ache because you ate too much of this delicious food, you shouldn't come. I wish everyone else a good appetite 😁😁😁😁

Wonderful cheese in a beautiful atmosphere!

We bought raclette cheese. It has a large selection of different flavors. We bought natural raclette cheese, hemp cheese and smoked cheese. The smoked cheese tastes so good, it's our favorite. But the other cheeses also taste really good.

During the week you can have a heavenly brunch here. The service was extremely friendly and the ambience is simply beautiful. We will come back and say thank you for the warm hospitality.

I discovered their cheeses in a shop in Einsiedeln and every time I come to Switzerland I buy cheese from Milchmanufaktur Einsiedeln, my parents love it. They have spectacular cheeses, the price is reasonable and the factory is very welcoming.

Nice tour in German but also translated into English for some of us that spoke no German .. you see the whole neat process of cheese & yogurt making of this prize willing factory (wales gold cheese award) besides they have a nice shop where to buy all their goodies and a restaurant to eat the BEST cheese fondue or Rosties .. Cheesemaking then and now – a journey through time On April 22nd, 2023 we made our own Bergmutschli in Einsiedeln. Registering in advance worked without any problems. Othmar competently guided us through the milk factory and the cheesemakers Robert and Hans explained every step of the cheese production in the “Alphüttli”. The breaks were skillfully bridged with tastings of whey and yoghurt. After shaping, our cheese went into a salt bath and was then cared for on site for weeks. Exactly after a month we were able to pick up our 16 mothers. Conclusion: A successful event with homemade fine cheese. Thanks to everyone involved, in front of and behind the scenes. Truthfully, I don’t even know where to begin! It doesn’t get fresher or more local than this! A can’t miss destination when you visit Einsiedeln. We toured the cheese making space, tasted so many delicious varieties of milk products, shopped, and finally enjoyed a top notch fondue dinner. We may get stopped for cheese trafficking at the border 😊

Restaurant with a wide choice of food and drinks. It starts with breakfast, snack, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner. The cheese fondue is excellent, served with bread, potatoes and cooked apples😋😋 Very good menu of the day.

Very friendly and informative tour of the cheese dairy. The two nice ladies at the machines, especially when cleaning a vat, the speed with the scrubber was almost record-breaking. Everything was very clean and tidy. All you can say is that we're looking forward to it again Einsiedeln cheese dairy.

The factory is not so big but the food is super delicious,and the staff here was very helpful. You can find the best cheese you are looking for. I would want to visit every week if I lived closer.

Visited as part of the Cheese Passport, No. 3 on our list. Just as well done as the two show dairies we have visited so far. The food is good, the selection in the shop is also good.

Lovely place for fondue! We heard about the awards their cheeses had won and really wanted to try out the fondue here! And needless to say, it was an amazing experience! The nice lady serving us was prompt and efficient with her wine recommendations. She also brought us some apples to try with the fondue which we really enjoyed! We will definitely be coming here again!

Visited the shop attached to the restaurant, a truly excellent variety of local products at honest prices. I raclette cheese is fabulous!

Perfect place to visit, whether just for a little shopping, eating, drinking, with a visitor. Always happy again and again. I have to mention, great experience, event at René Schönbächler with a delicious dinner, wine and cheese tasting. Very friendly, pleasant, child-friendly. Such a point was missing in Einsiedeln. And the Bergmutschli should not be missing on the table!

But yes. It was very fitting. First the monastery church, then eat down-to-earth. A beautiful autumn day. Fine cheese! Generous portions, friendly service. Great offer, I even bought a softly spoken Schoofseckeli. Gladly again!

Was in the milk factory for the first time. The view into the cheese cellar is unique. However, the joy about it died down very quickly. When we asked if there would be anything else to eat (it was 4:45 p.m.) we were told that the kitchen closes at 4:45 p.m. Strange, your website says 5 p.m. No "cold" alternative was offered. When we wanted to take cheese with us, that was probably the absolute pinnacle. The lady behind the counter was very unfriendly and only had short, unfriendly answers to our inquiries as to which cheese was currently available. Trying was not offered. Smiling would have brought more sales. That doesn't work at all! It's a shame, so only one star from me and no more sales.

Very cool place in a relative industrial area of the village. Better to come here by car and there are numerous parking spots available. The place itself has a restaurant and a local products shop. There are also tours where you can visit the factory on Saturdays.

Buurezmorgä, super fine. Especially the frozen yoghurt. Very friendly service. Almost nothing was missing, except for the orange juice because I don't like whey. But that's complaining on a high level. Tip top.

It is OK but the prices should be revised. Since it is a touristic place I can understand till some point but can be reconsidered for my opinion. Alp cheese (Alpkaese) is the local cheese of the region but there was only two options.

We enjoyed a rustic, typical and delicious lunch. The 3 very friendly ladies who served us made the experience in the interesting surroundings perfect. The fact that so many craftsmen eat there speaks for the good quality and a good price/performance ratio. The boutique and the Chäslädeli with the beautiful delicacies are beautiful. I can only recommend the tour of the company. After the tour you can buy great products in the shop and enjoy a delicious lunch in the restaurant.

Great for all cheese lovers. Great service if you don't know the types of cheese. Very competent when it comes to advice and help. Enough parking spaces on site. Consumption directly on site is possible, as is a small refreshment.

You can watch cheese being made in the show dairy. The store has a wide selection of cheeses. Various types of soft cheese to mozzarella are produced here locally. There is also frozen yoghurt made in-house.

A very impressive cheese, yoghurt and hay milk factory. The leadership and the products that are produced are excellent. Groups can also produce their own cheese under supervision! Einsiedeln is not only a monastery and black Mary, but also!!!

We were very disappointed with the Buuren Zmorge. The only choices were salami, meatloaf and Ham. No bacon etc. which in my opinion was part of a Buure Zmorgen. The price also only included hard-boiled cold eggs. You would have If you wanted scrambled eggs, 3 minute eggs or fried eggs you would have had to pay extra for this (between 7.00 and 10.00 Fr.). I read in a previous statement from the managing director that this was intended to prevent food waste. I definitely support the fact that you have to order explicitly as a prevention, but the fact that this is not included in the flat rate is definitely not possible! Likewise, the price of 29.00 Fr. ONLY includes 1 HOT DRINK🤔. Each additional coffee, tea, etc. must be paid for at CHF 3.00. Who only drinks one drink during a leisurely breakfast? So the 29.00 Fr. is more than deceptive and you pay Ultimately, much more (for breakfast, mind you, and, as the manager explicitly mentioned before, not for brunch!). I realize that the local products are more expensive than Wholesale products, which I'm willing to pay, but these I find price economics deceptive. You are happy to pay CHF 35.00, for example, and then you can eat and enjoy as you please. Definitely should The hot drinks are included, because in the end it is always a mixed bill. Some consume more and certainly many women and seniors consume less. I don't find the atmosphere appealing. A large hall to eat, which is like a canteen and accordingly it was also very loud. I think it's a brilliant idea that there are viewing glasses for the cheese dairy on the floor, but not particularly well thought out and there are tables on them where we have breakfast and not 50 cm There are people standing around the table in the distance, so that you can look into the cheese dairy. As a guest at the table, you feel more like an animal in the zoo than in a restaurant, because of course you can not only look into the cheese dairy, but also what the guest is eating at the table, etc .. I was equally disappointed with the cheese buffet. I would have liked more typical Einsiedler specialties, especially since it is a milk factory and the offer in the shop is gigantic!! The various shakes were just overly sweet and in my opinion didn't have much to do with milk in terms of taste. Unfortunately, the very friendly service and the beautiful shop did not make up for the negative points mentioned. Finally, I have to say that we expected more based on the many positive Google reviews and therefore we won't come back because there are far better value for money offers in the same price segment. Because there is NO comparison to the Wirtschaft Schönegg restaurant in Wädenswil where the Buure Zmorge costs 32.50 Sfr. costs and REALLY EVERYTHING IS INCLUDED.

very nice cheese dairy with a restaurant with lots of delicacies

We went to the milk factory for the first time for Sunday brunch. We like to go out for brunch often and unfortunately we were very disappointed. The flat rate of CHF 29.00 per person is deceptive because it only includes 1 hot drink, for example. Each additional coffee costs CHF 3.00. In addition, all egg dishes must also be paid for separately. Fried eggs, scrambled eggs, soft eggs etc. between Friday 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. You can quickly get to over Fr. 50.00 per person! As already mentioned, we often eat out on Sundays and can therefore say that the price-performance ratio is not right for us. We are aware that everything is regionally sourced, but we don't think a brunch package with just a coffee/hot drink and no egg dishes (except hard-boiled eggs) is recommended. It's better to raise the price a little, but then offer everything. There will always be guests who get it out of it and those who don't get it out of it. The mixed calculation applies. Even with the cheese, we were missing something “special” in a place like this. What was very good were the meat offerings such as ham, meat cheese and the Bircher muesli also tasted very good. What we were also missing was salmon, for example. In the end, the ambience didn't convince us either. It is a large hall and feels more like a train station buffet and the noise level is correspondingly. Conclusion: we have already experienced significantly better brunches for around CHF 30.00 (of course you pay more, as 1 hot drink is not enough for a leisurely breakfast) and will therefore not come back.
