Today a little better and friendlier. Breakfast has been good as always for 30 years. today on August 21st, 2022, again at the Schäfli for breakfast, we were totally shocked. 1. pretty unfriendly service, again!, and when we paid we (2 adults and 2 children, 8 years old and 5 years old) were each charged 25. - additionally charged for meat, cheese and eggs. SORRY, but for 2 small children the same amount as for ubs adults? We have never paid that in all our years! Children at this age never eat as much as an adult, especially since eggs are also eaten. WE FIND THIS OUTRAGEOUS! Even if the price was changed in response to our request. Anyone who doesn't know the prices that used to apply (even 1-2 months ago) is being shamelessly ripped off! Just why? A PITY!!!

Very rich breakfast, coffee and tea (included), can be ordered later. This is our second time there and we can highly recommend the breakfast.

Lovely restaurant, great food at fair price, nice view, I like the table cover which is a painting of the view in front. Coffee 🍮 and dessert 🧁 are so delicious. 15 minutes by walking to Appenzell so a perfect place on the way. Recommend to go!

Wonderful bakery with local traditional treats, very yummi! Playground for the kids including balancing rope and sandbox, next to long sledge and swing-set.

Food is great on Sundays, there is always a menu of large or small soup, salad, menu according to the boss but always very, very fine. The boss and the staff are super friendly, like a big family. I can only recommend Gnüsseds nb the ice cream cafe, try a poem

The brunch is sensational, simply great, the fine bread, the fresh ingredients, the wonderful Birchermüesli and the good cheeses. Unfortunately the coffee isn't edible, which is a shame for such a nice restaurant. Maybe this constructive criticism will help and we'll have a coffee surprise next time... :-) Kind regards

Appenzeller Bäckerei-Konditorei-Cafe-Restaurant. Typisches Appenzellerhaus / schöne Lokalität. Sehr gute Qualität Konditorei bzw Bäckerei. Gelebte Brotkultur ist das Motto! Freundliche und zuvorkommende Bedienung in Bäckerei und Restaurant. Ab Bahnhof Steinegg (Appenzellerbahn) gut erreichbar.

Brunch at the Schäfli Steinegg bakery and pastry shop: Good price-performance ratio. No buffet to pick up yourself, but service at the table. A bit simple, it would be nice with Birchermüesli, fruits etc., but the price is okay.

So scheint es uns, denn die gut zubereiteten, ausreichenden Portionen von traditionellen Menüs erhält man zu einem sehr, sehr moderaten Preis. Wenn dann noch das Wetter passt, und vom Gartenrestaurant die freie Sicht auf die Landschaft und das Alpstein-Massiv dazukommt, wird es an nicht fehlen. Aber auch schon ein Kaffee mit Gebäck aus der Bäckerei im Haus ist ein Besuch wert. An Parkflächen zum Haus, gegenüber der Strasse fehlt es nicht.

Etwas ausserhalb von Appenzell an der Bahnlinie und Strasse nach Weissbad offenbart sich dieses besuchenswerte Restaurant mit Bäckerei ganz unerwartet. Wer die Umfahrungsstrasse wählt, verpasst es nicht, wenn er in Steinegg nach dem Bahnübergang wieder Appenzell zufährt. Als Passantenstopper erweist sich das reichlich mit Wandelröschen geschmückte Gartenrestaurant, und dieses auf einer gepflegten Kopfstein-Pflästerung. Das 3-Gang-Tagesmenu war mit CHF 17.50 und klein, mit 14.50 sehr preisgünstig. Schliesslich kommen dann die Süssgebäcke zum Kaffee direkt aus der eigenen Bäckerei. Das traditionelle Restaurant-Innere sparen wir uns für einen Besuch bei kühlerer Witterung.

There's also a bakery there.... except for the nut croissants, unfortunately everything sweet was already sold out... and that at 3:30 p.m. A pity!

Super fine pattisserie and breads

Entramos neste restaurante por acaso voltando do monte Ebenalp. É um pequeno restaurante que recebe praticamente só locais. No dia em que estivemos estava sendo servido apenas sopa de legumes, que estava delicioosa. As mesas estavam quase todas ocupadas por senhores e senhoras idosos, alguns inclusive jogando cartas. Valeu muito a visita.

Highly recommended for breakfast times, quick and effective service, to enjoy with a fantastic view when the weather is nice, good price-performance ratio. Good selection of baked goods in the sales room too.

One of my favorite places around here. Also because it has a bakery. Nice view of the Hoher Kasten. The service is very friendly and the price is right for me. Large parking lot right across the street.

Ich fuhr in dieses Juwel von einem Restaurant direkt an der Hauptstraße, nicht für von den wunderschönen Stadtzentrum von Appenzell. Trotz der in der Nähe der Stadt (15 Minuten zu Fuß) Ich habe zwar keinen anderen Touristen. Die Speisekarte ist begrenzt, aber das Essen ist weniger teuer als in der Stadt und ist ausgezeichnet. Wir besuchten ein zweites Mal erleben die Kuchen und Desserts. Wir saßen unter Einheimischen und alles sehr genossen. Dies ist ein bequemer und angenehmer Spaziergang vom Stadtzentrum und werden etwas Geld sparen und haben Sie eine wahre Schweizer Erfahrung.Go!
