Mr. Pickwick Pub Bern in Bern

I love to come for lunch here with friends. The food is consistently good, the beer is great and the atmosphere is awesome. At lunch time it's pretty much never crowded. I wholeheartedly recommend the place.

The Piwi always works. Uncomplicated atmosphere, lively and yet friendly staff. Well located and close to the train station.

Great & authentic pub. My recommendation: Jameson - Ginger Ale 😉

Absolute worst quality of beer at the highest prices in Bern. Awfull avoid.

I must agree with some of the comments on the unfriendly staff, it seems that it is a lottery. On one occasion, I was greeted nicely and then on another occasion it was the opposite and rude. It depends on who is manning the bar. Quite ashame really because it is a nice pub.

You are in a group, everything is fine. You are alone. We let you sit down to get away from the table when 15 people arrive. Singles, to avoid...

The location is really cozy. However, it was very crowded, so we had to stand outside.

There was a really nice German brown hair bar tender, she made my evening, she was really helpful and pleasant!

They are supposed to serve food until 22:00. I ordered at 21:40 and they said they were no longer serving food. On a Saturday night, with NO REASON. I would not recommend. The barmaid was very kind and it’s not her fault, she still tried to ask the kitchen if it was still possible to have food but received a negative answer. I think it’s very misleading. They should either update the information on the website or stick to what they advertise. Does not make me want to come back. For sure will not be in my choices to get food in the future.

Sorry, too loud and too narrow for me - typical bar. The place would do well with a renovation.

It was a random evening, me going to Mr. Pickwick in Bern. The reason for this night out was my friends from Italy being in town and us wanting to watch the game between Italy and Ukraine. When we arrived there I was not expecting a huge crowd since it was a Monday night, but the least I was expecting was that a person standing behind the counter puts a smile on his face and greets us when we say hi. This is the least an employee should do in a bar or in a restaurant. But unfortunately the big guy was too good to do that and just stood still. Even when I wanted to order he had no reaction and I had to wait for the young lady to take our order. Of course when you do not feel welcome in a bar you wouldn't visit again. That's what's gonna happen in future.

We came to Bern to watch Man City in the Champions League. We thought that this was the best pub in Bern. The staff were friendly, the food was great and they showed the football in the evenings.

Great pub since 1971 in the heart of Bern

Rugby world cup final 2023 and the bartender refused to switch on the match audio. Kept playing loud music. If you want to watch sports, better to head to McCarthy’s, which is what we did at half time. Disappointed with this pub.

Ok, 8 CHF for a can of Moretti? Changed prices on the Wednesday from our previous visit Tuesday night

We reserve a table for 6 but they didn’t organize that. We ask for the gourmet burget but they were sold out. We ask for baileys, they had only Amarulla. Food was good and tasty. Drinks were cold.

Being in Bern, we wanted to go to a Pub. We chose this one for Saturday evening The atmosphere is really not great and not many people for a weekend?

The Mr. Pickwick in Bern has a really great atmosphere, great location, nice service people and I think the prices are completely reasonable! The often full pub speaks for itself, "the place to be" ;-)

One of the best pubs in Bern. British atmosphere with a very good beer selection. Sometimes a beer costs a few francs more. There is a large selection for this.

The two at the bar lacked joy and lightness. Otherwise, like a pub.

Normal pub, just how you imagine a pub like this to be. Points deducted because you don't have 3dl of beer (5dl or 2.5dl). Of course a good selection of beer. Sometimes there is live music.

We were happy to finding such a place in Bern, with truly good English vibes and the possibility to watching sports events and "singing the national anthem as your rugby team prepares to battle it out" (as it is written on their Internet site)... The beer was also very good. Unfortunately the ad on the site is not true, or at least it wasn't when we went there. I am talking about the Six Nations rugby final match, not just any match. Two different people asked the waiter if we could hear the match instead of the music, and the answer was twice an almost bored "No, I will leave the music". At the end of the first half, there were 15 minutes break before the second one. After 10 minutes, one of the waiters put the screen on a football match. Mind you, there were at least two other screens already on that match. He could at least have done that immediately, we missed 30 minutes of the second half thanks to that. That's a shame because the place is really nice, but I would have expected something different when reading on their site. Never again.

Good sport club. You might want to reserve a table in the evening. The staff is nice and speak mostly English. The burgers are excellent.

It's a pub, as proper as they come! The bartenders poured me a fine ale and chatted like they worked there already for 50 years. Would definitely recommend!

Typical British pub located very close to the main train station in Bern. Besides the hydrating drinks, I had a Mr. Pickwick's Giant Deluxe Burger and it was just amazing! Looking forward to my next time in town!
