The Nelson Pub is the ideal place for an after-work beer or to chat and relax. It has great beer - actually my favorite place to go is because they have Astra beer on tap :-) There are also Brooklyn, Grimbergen and other beers on tap (see photos). Sandeep, the landlord of the Nelson, says he will expand the types of beers. He also takes time to chat and often brings chips or peanuts to the table (free) - almost a rarity in Switzerland. There is also food (burgers, wings, etc.). But I've never eaten at the Nelson. If it's warm you can sit outside. The terrace is close to the street, but this hardly bothers you. I recommend Nelson because of the good beers and the relaxed atmosphere. It is open during the week from 4:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 5:00 p.m.

Excellent pub with a nice selection of beer, snacks, bar food. The hospitality from the owner is top notch- he actually opened up shop for us when he was normally closed. Place was clean and had charming views from the outdoor seating. Definitely recommend!

The beer selection is good, that's a positive. There was no service. You had to pick up the beer yourself at the bar. The furnishings could be more loving. Especially in the lower area. When I was there it smelled unpleasant. I wouldn't go there again and would prefer other bars.

Super friendly service, even brought us free chips/crisps and nuts to our table outdoors. For the beer lovers among you, they have a great and very international variety of beers (Belgian, French, British, German, Swiss…). Don’t forget to ask for a „Mass“ (big beer), you’ll get a free pretzel with it!

Great pub with an excellent range of beer. This is a regular meet up pub for the What's Up Bern (FB) group who are known to party quite hard! :) Rock up for a beer. It's easy to meet English speakers here from all over the world. The owner 'Sandy' is a great guy. He's been putting rugby and football up on the screens for us.

A classic pub in the middle of Bern with a decent beer selection and an English/Irish style smokers lounge. authentic and without unnecessary frills. recommended if you are looking for a real pub.

Not too comfortable, the whole thing is a bit run down. The selection of different beers is very large, but unfortunately the price is also at the upper limit. Unfortunately, the dartboard is not optimally placed, especially next to a lounge.

Nice Irish pub where you often have space. Sports TV is often on and there is a cozy atmosphere. Certainly a good place to go and can often be found on my route.

Very friendly and courteous service. A good selection of drinks. Unfortunately, I found the shop itself to be a bit run down and dingy. The decoration seemed a bit out of place and careless. You could certainly get a lot out of the space. But it's definitely enough to relax after work or something.

British / Irish Pub, tucked behind a Delicatessen Shop

I like it in winter. And it's cool for people who like singing/listening to karaoke. In summer, however, it is pretty much deserted. Prices are normal. Toilets (women's) are pretty much destroyed.

Nelson is a great English bar with a wonderful, cool atmosphere. Well attended, but never completely overcrowded. The prices are also within acceptable limits for a pub. Darts, table football and fumoir are also on offer. Everything you need ^_^

Changed my review as came here again and liked it. The Pickwicks pub was too dull, this pub good for beer, not so much for food. Good music and wide selection of draught. Not too busy here, lots of seating and quite big. Pickwicks is too small

A good place to stay if you like the irish pub atmosphere. You get a cool dark beer, you can play darts and on thursday there is a karaoke evening if you are up to sing between some beers. They also serve some snacks and baked toastbread. Prices are good, it is as swiss as the other prices around.
