Excellent restaurant in the heart of Kandersteg. It is open all day and we were taken in without a reservation. The traditional Swiss food was delicious - my wife had the wild boar sausage with rösti and I had a vegetarian rösti with fried eggs, both absolutely wonderful. And the service was really great, even though the lady didn't speak English, we still got our food and drinks and were able to pay without problems. Everyone is extremely helpful and pleasant. This is definitely a place to have a late lunch if you happen to be visiting Blausee, Kandersteg, or Oeschinensee.

Staff was friendly but service was slow. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a more upscale meal (and have some time to spare) - you can do a la carte or build your own tasting menu.

At the time, I was in the mood for chicken but they didn't have any chicken dishes that I was attracted to, and the person looking after us asked if I would like the chef to make a customised dish with rice & chicken. I went along, and wow! was I in for a surprise! Absolutely loved the Asian style chicken rice- and who doesn't love customised food? :D The staff were extremely courteous and quick to attend to us. The desserts were delicious too! Don't miss going here if you're in Kandersteg.

I started my birthday celebration in New York at Le Bernadine which was delicious and inventive. But this unassuming hotel restaurant in a little town in Switzerland blew my socks off. The entire meal was memorable. Service was exceptional and I literally ate one of the best prepared pieces of meat of my entire life - wild venison blackstrap. It was accompanied by spatzele that was light not dense, wild cranberries, a perfectly poached pear with hazelnut mousse. The two chefs are unassuming and delightful. I would go back in a heartbeat.
