Openair Gampel in Gampel-Bratsch

One of the unmissable Openairs in Switzerland, I recommend taking the premium pass for all the peace of mind it brings.

My absolut favourite openair in Switzerland! People are very kind and the openair offers a wide range of music genres.

I was at the Openair Gampel for two days. The open air is surrounded by beautiful mountains. I came from Zurich by car... I advise everyone not to come by car! Take the train, as you can easily wait 1 - 2 hours for the train at the "Lötschberg Tunnel"... so instead of 3 hours, you then have 4 - 5 hours... You can also rent tents there directly can of course be very advantageous in order to carry less luggage. But why 2 stars...? In my opinion, the whole festival is too poorly organized... I have to be honest that the acts aren't great and there are a lot of no names... which is completely okay since everyone started small... but the stages were usually always empty. You pay 5.- for the showers which is a complete rip off! 2 croissants and 2 water for 14.-?! We're still in the mud in the Vallis and not at the beach club in Porto Cervo... The last act usually played around 1:00 a.m.... but there was music on the stages all the time (until 8:00 a.m. tomorrow)... I I think partying is cool, but you should (at least try) letting people sleep without a bass that makes my tent vibrate. The most annoying thing was Sunday morning... the Openair Gampel thought that with such a crowd, two public transport buses would be enough to take you to the parking lot (45 minutes on foot). So either you wait with the people under the sun for 1.5/2 hours or you walk under the sun for 45 minutes... I found that very poorly organized.

My colleague was sick, but the Securitas didn't want to give me water because they said if she can still stand, then she doesn't need water. We were in the middle of the crowd and could barely get out and I thought I'd get her water.

This used to be the best Swiss music festival with real world stars: The Cure, Joe Cocker, Deep Purple, Muse, Placebo and many more. For a few years now everything has been about “partying” instead of presenting the audience with real musical gems.

From Thursday to Friday I don't know everything, but what I do know was good. Otherwise only good memories, almost. Suggestions for improvement: no rain in 2023 please

Cool open air but unfortunately very, very many people and expensive prices. But I still like it and would like to come back. It has a lot of cool acts and also cool stands and competitions like ovomaltine doubt jui etc.

The area is large and of course the view is great, but the organization could have been a little better. The security guards were very bad, I didn't see the slightest turmoil or fight for 4 days, there was unnecessary checking and prolonging the work at the door, there was pushing and disrespect when I asked them for help, there was not the slightest help, there is no language pattern, he says speak English, but he can't speak to them, next time. It could be better if they pay attention.

It was very nice and the weather cooperated, I was only there from Saturday so unfortunately the transport by public transport was not smooth. Why do you have to pay 3 CHF for the journey? It's really not very pleasant to have to queue for the tickets. With such high ticket prices, it can't just be included. Even when swimming, there are huge queues in front of the bus and the ticket cabins. On the sbb app it even cost 5 CHF... It's really not nice

The campsite was big enough for all guests. Unfortunately, enjoying music on the festival grounds was only good if you were directly in front of the stage or in a tent. As soon as you stood a bit in between, you could hear the bass from all the tents and bars on five sides. Otherwise a really nice festival that I would like to visit again.

Very great open air in Valais. Great ambience, great bars and good music. We go back every year, not because of the lineup, but because of the good time. The parking lot is on the airfield, not far away. You can then take a shuttle (chargeable) to the festival site. The campsite is clear and has many (quite clean) sanitary facilities, some food and drink outlets and a small shop. The staff is very friendly almost everywhere!

The location and the festival itself are great. However, the prices are incredible. The fact that the prices in the camping supermarket are advertised as “clean” is cheeky. Parking costs 35 Fr and you have the choice of either walking about 40 minutes to the festival site or paying 5 Fr for a crowded shuttle bus. I don't even need to talk about the prices on the festival grounds... but if you didn't have to drink Heineken, it wouldn't be so bad. The depot system doesn't make much sense and is probably used to earn a little more money. The line-up and offering at the festival is top. All in all, a great festival with some room for improvement.

To be honest, I'm disappointed by this open air. A huge queue to enter the area. There were only 3 people who checked the luggage. I was told there wasn't any more capacity. The result: long queues. A huge mountain of rubbish on the site. There was storage for cups, but not for plates and cutlery. The only thing I thought was cool was that the campsite was very large and free and the acts were great too.

Entry is lousy. Only two security guards check each bag in detail. If it were the first open air in Gampel - ok. But now?! Just incredibly bad.

2021: On site; 4dl beer Heineken 6.- + 2.- depot 2022: On site; 3dl light beer Heineken 6.- + 2.- depot! 2022: Thursday on the premises: Calanda Glatsch 5dl can, 7th + 2nd deposit. 2022: Friday on the premises: They are no longer allowed to sell Calanda Glatsch, only the light beer! The bigger the nostrils, the more air can flow in, since as we all know, air is “still” free! Otherwise the festival would be worth a 5 star rating.

Great every year! I had a big memory loss from the last time, but from what my colleagues told me afterwards, it was still quite fun.

Music was good, there was still a lot of potential in terms of organization. Had to queue for more than 4 hours to check the Covid certificate because only 3 people checked it… for around 10,000 people… When queuing there were no toilets, no shade and no water. The visitors therefore had to relieve themselves against the fence. Then queue again to exchange tickets for wristbands and a third time to check your luggage. Absolutely inefficient and irresponsible in the heat that prevailed this weekend. It was also a shame about the big acts on Sunday afternoon/evening, which were poorly attended because many visitors had to go back home beforehand. Gampeln is really not centrally located.

Thank you for the 2021 edition - a great festival was created under the current conditions.

I don't think it's wise to hold such large events. And if you still go, you should just be patient when you get in. Man, you're not the only ones in the world.

It used to be my absolute favorite festival, but I'll never go there again. The Openair Gampel is for the two-class society. Shame on you ! I hope you go bankrupt!

A great open air. A huge party. I find it a bit tedious that you first have to cross the campsite before you get to the festival area. (Stayed at the hotel) The garbage wasn't under control either. I'd love to come back.

Extremely expensive. 5 francs for a can of beer and 4 for chips at the campsite is absolutely usury. Other Swiss festivals have a supermarket on site. You're not even allowed to take water into the camping area, but you can buy 5 dl for 5 francs... That's probably why our water, beer and energy drinks were stolen. In addition, people have to throw drinks over the rope because of it, which is just a hassle. Music quality is poor, lineup mediocre, shuttle bus overcrowded and not included in the price. The depot system with cups and chips is laborious. At all other festivals the cups are sufficient. At the Gampel it boils down to throwing your cup on the ground and then picking up your depot either without a cup or with something from the floor... Not quite the point.

Great atmosphere, two different stages so constant concerts with lots of different styles of music that suit all tastes and after the concerts there are several tents with different music too. It's expensive if you only go for one day but the 4-day pass is worth it!

Much too expensive, 130.- for one evening and 40.- for parking and far from the festival! To avoid !

Nice festival. Unfortunately the music in 2018 wasn't to my taste. But that's a matter of taste. I think it's annoying that every bar plays its own music and at such a volume that there's a real mush of music outside. Really a shame for a festival whose basis is actually music. Therefore 2 stars deducted.

Great atmosphere, great acts and good infrastructure

Festival is generally nice and definitely worth a visit. However, the hygiene in the toilets is poor compared to similar festivals. Urinals are full to the brim and no one seems to care. In addition, the prices are simply more expensive than at other festivals. If you don't manage to clean the shithouses despite having more money, I suspect that someone is getting a lot of money here. Or does the festival have a better explanation about this???

Magnificent site and what an atmosphere

Hello first of all, I had to do business here. Festival is small, peaceful with a great atmosphere. What bothered me is the crazy dust because it hasn't rained for a long time. My suggestion is to distribute water throughout the entire area where people are, including and especially in the backstage area where trucks kick up crazy amounts of dust.
