I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the restaurant (only) of Osteria La Riva next to Locarno. View is nice and the nearby street is very calm. The food was between quite average but not bad. The salad sauce was not worthy of notes. The pasta were a tiny bit overcooked and the shrimps were good but super small. Price was a bit less than CHF 50 for two-courses.

The location directly on Lake Maggiore is wonderful. We got a table right at the front on the lawn facing the lake. The service is extremely attentive, friendly and accommodating. The dishes we ordered were of excellent quality! We would love to come again.

After eating you can take a nice walk along the lake road without a car, ideal if you have children.
