Osteria Nostrana in Ascona

So-so food, small portions and not very tasty, we ordered meat, pasta and pizza. Pizza was ok, other- we do better at home.

Eating with a lake view is always a thing: Here you wait briefly at the entrance and then the waiters somehow conjure up a seat for you... great! The menu offers a very large selection for vegetarians, the menu is clear and extensive. At certain times (between main meal times) there are only certain dishes, but even then the selection remains very good. These dishes are marked with a small clock. Orders were taken quickly and drinks came quite quickly even though it was full. Here's a small minus point: the open wine comes straight from the bottle and is poured at the table (big plus), the selection is also great, but the quantity is really little for 7 SFR… The pizzas came quickly, were very good and had good toppings, but our daughter still had to wait about 15 minutes for her gnocchi. We would have preferred everything to come together. We started eating after about 5 minutes, but when the gnocchi came, they weren't really warm anymore either. They had probably been there for a while and no one knew what to do with them... Unfortunately, that wasn't all good. Nevertheless, we had a great time in the sun, the service was very friendly and the food was delicious. The prices are of course sporty at 25 SFR for a pizza, but the price was right. A clear recommendation here on the lakeshore!

A very nice place. We were warmly welcomed despite the late hour. The food was delicious and the service was very friendly. The staff is also child friendly and no one minded our 2 year old exploring the restaurant. Certainly also because there weren't that many guests anymore. We'll definitely come back.

Came in late February, the weather was rubbish so we enjoyed a warm and cosy lunch here and were satisfied with the food and drinks. The services was very friendly and fun! We paid 90 chf for 2 soups, a pizza and gnocchi with 2 coffee and 2 cokes.

Fantastico! Just wow. Great ambience, the restaurant is spacious and stylishly and invitingly furnished. After the quick first service, we were overwhelmed by the FANTASTIC pizzas. Following this culinary delight, we enjoyed a delicious and light mousse al cioccolato. A fantastic end to the day.

Excellent food, atmosphere and service! It is a huge place and the turn over is really fast, so not to worry if you see a queue. I ordered the Osso bucco and the risotto was O.M.G, the best risotto I had in my life! So creamy, al dente and perfectly seasoned. I’m still dreaming about it!

Unfortunately, the bald waiter was very unfriendly and deliberately ignored us several times when we wanted to pay. The rating only applies to this waiter. We were then allowed to pay with another person and he was also friendly. There are definitely people who would like to do this job.

Menu with particular dishes, combinations with attention to taste and aesthetics. You have to take your time because some dishes are made on the spot, for example the ravioli are assembled when the order arrives in the kitchen. However, it also serves to give the right time between one dish and another and therefore I don't see it as a negative point... service 🔝, rather high prices but justified by the organic quality of the products. The atmosphere is rustic but a little too cool…

It's really a shame that such a beautiful restaurant inside has a very vulgar and pompous waitress manager. Our waiter was friendly, but the waiter should change his job. Besides, we didn't even eat well. I am very sorry

Whether inside or outside, you can sit very comfortably with a view of the lake and the people strolling around, or in the comfortably furnished restaurant. Local cuisine and always a seasonal menu. Very good wines also served by the glass. Sufficient staff guarantees that every wish is fulfilled quickly. Highly recommended

The restaurant was busy and almost all the tables were occupied. Nevertheless, we didn't have to wait long for our food and the quality was top. The pizzas looked extremely tasty. Every time I return to Osteria Nostrana in Ascona, the welcoming atmosphere makes me feel really at ease. Homemade bread is simply delicious, with that perfect combination of crunch and softness. But I have to tell you, eggnog is something extraordinary, the best embrace of sweetness I've ever tasted. In short, if you are looking for a place to feel good at the table, this is the right place.

Best restaurant in Ascona! The pizzas are first class - finally a good *pizza romana* again. Since the interior is like a classic Italian osteria, you feel even more in Italy than you would otherwise in Ticino. :)

In itself a nice place to linger.... Unfortunately, the waiter seemed absolutely annoyed when we dared to sit outside around 4:30 p.m. and order an Aperol Spritzz 🤔.... He served us very reluctantly, Therefore unfortunately only 2 stars

The pizza is always very good, with a crispy, not too thick base and well topped. The Panna Cotta dessert is recommended.

We received a voucher and tested the restaurant yesterday. It was very busy but we got a table very quickly. We ate beef fillet and veal liver, both of which were excellent! For dessert we tried 3 types of ice cream and they were also of the best quality. The wine was also great! The service is very quick and friendly. We will definitely come back and try pizza because the pizzas that other guests ordered looked great!

Very happy with this restaurant, prices are within the limits you can expect from ascona & Locarno. The location is very good, the atmosphere in the restaurant, as well on the terrace is very nice. The food is good, the wine is tasteful and the service is extremely good. All in all, would really recommend to visit this restaurant if you are able to.

We have been coming to Ticino from Interlaken twice a year for many years. One of the highlights is always your pizza. So far this reference has been for a really great pizza. On October 4th We ate with you again, but the pizza was different than usual. Dry, poorly risen dough, the pleasure was manageable! Have you changed pizzaiolo or a different dough recipe or just had a bad day? We hope it was the latter so we can look forward to wonderful pizza again in the spring.

Good food at prices that are not quite as overpriced as many other restaurants on the promenade. However, the service could be friendlier and faster!

We had the opportunity to visit it in the afternoon. The food we ate was exceptional, cooked and served very well. The prices are honest, compared to other places not so far away. As for the staff, some are kind and helpful while others don't seem to fully appreciate their job. All in all we were very satisfied.

Settled here just before the rain. Outside small table TopService lunch PiccataMilanese with pasta. The greeting from the kitchen with the large olives is unforgettable. Lunch was a waste. Not left out in the rain for little money. You also have to go inside for dinner.

Nice restaurant in Ascona right on Lake Maggiore. Although we came without a reservation, we were quickly given a table outside. Four different pastas can be combined with 6 or 7 different delicious sauces.

Restaurants in beautiful locations directly on the lake are often to be enjoyed with caution due to the high number of tourists. That is definitely not the case here. Excellent food, courteous service and surprisingly the prices are not completely off the charts. Tip Risotto with porcini mushrooms. The wood fired pizza is also perfect. Osteria Nostrana is my new favorite in Ascona! It started with a small and delicious gift from the house (mortadella, olives, herb bread). The pizza and gnocchi were extremely good. The bread from the basket is also great. The service was perfect - friendly and attentive. Clear recommendation, we'll be back! P.S. The great location on the lake shouldn't go unmentioned either

Friendly and quick staff, the prices were excellent (93 francs for three). The location on the lake shore is beautiful. We ate a deviled square, burrata with salad and chicken with rice on the side.

Idk what the people praising this place experienced, but they convinced me to give it a try. A mistake. The food may be average but is overpriced. Decent supermarket prosciutto, half a melon and a couple of burratas on a plate almost 30 bucks. Not the height of creativity. The service is a joke. When you take the dirty cutlery off my plate after a course and place it back in front of me, we're done talking about professional service. The only good thing earning a star is the lake view. And it also explains the tourist traffic.
