Very friendly and helpful staff, the restaurant has a unique and cool decoration. In summer / good weather there are also seats on the balcony :-) everything is tip top

What a fun, cozy and unique experience. It's been a while since I showed more fascination with the interior of a restaurant than the food! It is really an experience, the food is of course also very tasty, only the desert is poor. The cheesecake is okay but looks like mass production and not home made, unlike the main course, which is prepared with love! Tip: if you like mechanical simplicity you can ask to activate the fan, they can really move.

Ate fine honey and BBQ wings. Unfortunately, sweet potato fries were very soft. Staff very accommodating and friendly.

Good atmosphere but we got the unfriendly/slightly agressive staff. Wanted to spend a nice date there and the waiter obliged us to go back to our table to pay the bill and made us feel like we were gonna run away without paying. Should learn how to speak to the clients.

We had reserved in advance, but this was not recorded or registered. Luckily it wasn't busy and we got a table. The service was good, but it took a long time to serve and pay afterwards. The food was delicious.

The restaurant impresses with a unique and incomparable decoration. At lunchtime there are several dishes, including water, soup or salad and a coffee or espresso. The lunchtime meal was OK so far, a little too much. But I was able to take it home.

Food was very good, unfortunately the prices were a little too high for the quantity.

It's been many years since I've been to Papa Joe's... Unfortunately I wasn't as excited about it as I used to be... There are now places in the city with better burgers, a larger selection at similar prices. The ambience is quite good, but a bit old, our table wobbled a lot, after request something was put under it...

The restaurant is well known, but has lost its luster. Unfortunately, the well-known Papa Joe's is no longer as I used to know it. Drinks: There's no need to argue about the drinks. Although they are more expensive than in surrounding bars, the ambience and professionalism partly justify the price. Ambiance: The restaurant is very nicely decorated. The bar in particular has an atmosphere of its own. The food: If there's one thing I would never do again in my life, it's eat at Papa Joe's. I've given the restaurant several times the chance to show itself, but no matter what I ate, it never tasted good. (And I've now tried the entire menu) It's probably because of the frozen products. In the past, it seems to me that the quality was better.

Pretty nice place to go to for a bite, however the burgers weren’t the best we’ve had. The atmosphere is nice and cozy and the waiter was very nice and chatty.

I went there for dinner with friends. I went without making a reservation, but I was seated without much of a wait. It was around dinner time and there were a lot of customers, but I was able to take my order right away. The last time I came was over 10 years ago, but I was relieved that the menu hadn't changed much from before. The spareribs were delicious as always. And the cost performance is also good. It was full of volume. I ordered a brownie for dessert after dinner and shared it with a friend. It was a pity that there was no draft beer.

Cocktail prices too high, little alcohol, lots of fruit juice. Prices in general too high compared to the average of other restaurants, the barbecue ribs are very good, price ok, for the "starters" the prices are too high, onion rings good but 14 chf for 5 rings seems excessive to me. Very chaotic and noisy environment. The menu is still the same since last year, they haven't changed anything, the sweet potatoes are good, if you go for ribs I recommend it, little choice for vegetarians, only one beer, poor choice, they should expand the selection of beers and of cocktails.

Rooms are ok but unfortunately you won't get enough. The portions are small, but overall edible. Service is not up to the stress (at least on Saturday). Cocktails after the meal were forgotten, with 6 for a group of 9 people it was bad.

Bad experience. Because: 1 item (burger) missing. 1 item was delivered but mixed (not ordered). they didn't take the minimum effort to write on the packages which contains what.

The service is unfriendly (a waiter always behaves as if he were on drugs), the food looks like it came straight from the microwave (and tastes like it too), the prices are far too high for this kind of food. All in all, bad food and staff that wants to see customers processed and out of the "restaurant" as quickly as possible. 2018 Update 2023: 1/5, it remains a mystery to me why this “restaurant” still exists...

39 francs gets you this small delicious steak, with fries worth counting. The price does not match the meal 👎

It's a bit of a taste, but in my opinion it's one of the best restaurants I've been to so far. The service was very friendly and I personally really like the ambience. It's a bit wildly structured because you get a lot of different impressions, which I actually found very cool because it's just something different. The only point I have that I didn't like is that there wasn't too much on offer, but To say something good, it was also the first real portions that I have received so far in the restaurants I have been to. Overall, it was a very pleasant and nice day/evening that I spent there with my girlfriend

I have been to 'Papa Joe's' in Basel for the very first time, following Jenna's suggestions, a girl who lives in Riehen. She is not a girl you should trust usually, but I decided to give her a chance. I enjoyed a dinner with friends on the balcony outside, being lucky enough that the weather was still good enough to let us enjoy it. We ordered the Spare ribs, recommended by Jenna, and I have to say we really did the right thing following her indication. There are plenty of vegetarian options as well, leaving you a vast menu to explore. If all restaurants suggested by Jenna are like this, I will ask her more often.

The decoration is very nice and different to other restaurants. We were quickly seated and brought our drinks. The wait for our food wasn’t too long either. The food was good but there was definitely room for improvement!

Despite there being few guests, we had to wait an hour for our order. One of the dishes had the wrong side dish. Tables were not cleared and half-full plates stood around for over 2 hours.

The burger was absolutely ok, but you can eat a much better burger in Basel for the same price.

The location is very central and lively. Nice ambience and decorations inside and the terrace is lovely! The food was good; I do not recommend the nachos though. The salad was fresh, crunchy and very tasty and the fries as well. The staff are polite and professional. You get a free lollipop with the bill to forget that prices are exaggerated ;)

I love this restaurant in Basel. The atmosphere is simply brilliant and you feel like you are in Mexico. The staff is friendly, competent and really on the ball. The food is delicious and you feel full afterwards. Simply recommended. Maybe call ahead to book a space or reserve online. Keep it up and I'll be back

We emphasize that the ribs were very tasty with hardly any fat. It's a shame that the food is so expensive, bordering on prohibitive, otherwise we would have ordered more.

It's not quite Mexican, and the burger isn't anything special either. Otherwise, the food was quite good, the sauces were very tasty, although the spare ribs felt like they had been marinated for days...if the tortilla chips had been a little fresher and the meat taste hadn't been so pushed away by the sauce, I could happily give it 5 stars.

Amazing place, which we discovered accidentally! Even better is that it was a day with an offer of one free cheeseburger when ordering two! 😍 The staff is really friendly and explained us that to redeem an offer, we have to download the app and activate there a coupon. The burgers were juicy, and Pommes was really well-cooked too! We were really happy with our visit, and I can only recommend this place - even if you are not a fan of burgers, the menu is quite extensive and the visit is worth it also based on the design and authenticity this place offers. You really can feel it that it has its own history :) P. S. The place is quite pricy, so please take that into account, especially if you are not as lucky with offers as we were.

The restaurant was full and we waited half an hour for service or drinks etc. I found the quality of the dishes to be rather poor for the price.

The owners changed chicken wings and they tasted different. Pancakes weighed about 20g and I swore to live my life

It's a pretty trendy place with LOTS of tasty/mouth-watering options. Definitely not the most affordable hamburger place in Basel, but the options are hands down juicy and delish. I love a well-prepared homemade burger and their cheeseburger reminded me of that for some reason. They have a good range of cocktails and food to share as well. Oh, loved the décor lastly.

Too much ice is added to the drinks. When asked to take out the ice cream, stupid comments were made. The glass was only half full. Poor service at the bar. Not cheap.

You get far better burgers in Basel than here. Mexican is also very far from what is offered here. Especially if you've ever been to Mexico. But the staff is really extremely friendly and nice.

I was back at Papa Joe's after over 20 years and was amazed that it still looked the same. Unfortunately, the bartender barely spoke German and served a non-alcoholic Pina Colada. When I asked whether 14.50 also had rum in it or just ice cream, he replied yes. It's a shame, the visit wasn't worth it. There was also no taste of alcohol in my colleague's cocktail.

I would happily give the bar 5 stars. Drinks were delicious and the staff was very friendly. There was a lot going on in the restaurant. We had to wait longer until the starter came (50 minutes for 2 dishes). Since there was a lot going on (Saturday evening), you can turn a blind eye here. Unfortunately, the main courses weren't exactly a hit. Spare ribs could have used a little more color. The meat looked brutally pale and unappetizing. The taste is also below average. Some dishes were served cold. When we passed the feedback on to the staff, we immediately received new fries. Certainly something great for larger groups. I really like the atmosphere and the staff was very friendly. For me it's more of a slightly overpriced fast food restaurant.

The service -> very unfriendly, especially the female one! The food -> At Papa Joe's they no longer value quality over quantity. The prices are no longer worth it for this food. If I wanted to give Papa Joe's another chance, I was unfortunately disappointed again.

Our table by the window was nice, unfortunately a bit cold because there was no radiator there. (dismantled🤷‍♂️)

If you order a limited edition dish or special dish it's going to be delicious but all other dishes are always just pre heated or warmed up and very watery. Nevertheless the Restaurant itself has a very cool theme and feeling to it.
