The bears are beautiful. Large spaces full of windows.

It's a good spot to see bears with a view of the city of Bern. There are also many car parks around. 5-10 minute walk from the historical city center.

It's a beautiful place with Bears wandering around freely without any fear. It's a free entry place and can be visited by families and friends 24hrs/7days.

We went during the hibernation period. We were lucky enough to meet a bear who was rebuilding his burrow.

we went but unfortunately the bears were hibernating or not let out so there was nothing to see. the enclosure is also very small and makes me question the ethics. nevertheless it makes a good picture of the river and city.

Here it was possible to combine tradition and species-appropriate animal husbandry in an acceptable way. But it is no longer what it once was. Luckily for the bears, but in my opinion it is no longer a landmark. I still have doubts about whether bears should still be kept there. They are visibly better now than before. But I have my doubts about whether this is really species-appropriate. Perhaps it would have been better to keep the landmark as it was without bears.

Good place to chill and see the bear

I saw 2 of 3 bears...they were so cute and funny! The mango-lemon ice cream afterwards was also very tasty. Nice place to enjoy, watch bears and soak up the sun.

Wonderful experience!!! We stayed there for more than an hour admiring the mother bear while she played with her cub!!! Highly recommended. It also offers a wonderful view of the river. I didn't have to enter anywhere or pay anything, the bears were in an area clearly visible to passers-by.

Not much to see there. No bears! There is a pit and it was all empty though the weather wasn't cold

It was nice to be able to see bears in the city without having to go to the zoo, and I loved that the gelato ice cream nearby was delicious.

In a shop there, I asked "Wo ist die bar" which is "Where is the bar?" The lady smiled and pointed to where the bear pit is! The bear seemed a bit bored and did not put on a show for the tourists. It was slightly underwhelming.

The Bear Pit is an interesting historical landmark that was first established in 1191. The bears were sleeping today, so no activity. Still an awesome site

Really cool icon of the city! Only downfall is that bears hibernate in the winter, so make sure to come in the warmer months to see the bears 🐻 we missed out unfortunately

A surprise to us as we were doing a walk around bern. There is the old small concrete pit, however the bears actually have access to the hillside next to the river. This is not free range but certainly better than many zoos I have seen. We were lucky enough to see a bear running around and playing. You can take a little elevator or stairs down to the waters edge to get a better view.

It is in a beautiful enclave but very small for bears, honestly these animals have to be in their habitat, enough of places of this type, Bern is also beautiful it does not need these attractions to attract anyone

Nice facility. However, you should know that bears hibernate. But that was our mistake.

Starting point for tourists who want to visit Strasbourg

A good place to see real bears, but there are some months that I believe until the end of March that they are wintering. And they are not seen. There is an elevator for disabled people and people with difficulties to go down to the river and see them closer. There are security guards at all times. And a curious thing is to look at all the stones that have names written on them, I suppose they are people who have collaborated.

It's nice here, not really special, the shopping street is nicer with that fantastic clock at the end

Unfortunately, the bears weren't out in the open yet. The view towards the Federal Palace is impressive.

Hibernation...Sighted a bear lazing around. Very friendly welcome and interesting discussion with the staff. Funicular to go down to the edge of the park and the river. Very beautiful setting.

Super great attraction from the city of Bern, I find it very iconic that they have made these bears near the old town accessible to everyone.

I have trouble walking but the lift takes you easily to the lower level.

When I first saw the Bern bears in 1988, it was pretty dire, with no environmental additions. Now they have space to swim, move around, but still could be bigger. Big improvement though.

Don't come with too high expectations~ It's not a bear theme park, there are just a few bears in a small area in front of the park, and if the weather is bad, the bears don't come out at all. Just looking at two or three bears in cages at the zoo is just about the same. If you are using a rental car... There is a paid parking lot near the park, but it is very small. It is better to just park your car in a nearby paid parking lot and take a walk.

Unfortunately I didn't see any bears. But it's great that they have so much space. Was in the bear pit 30 years ago. It was a sad sight back then.

If you come during the winter Bears rarely come out. Many people are disappointed by this. Please come in the summer. To have an exciting experience with brown bears.

Impressive and great that you can have something like this in the middle of the city, and it's free too. I think the animals are treated well, but while we were quietly enjoying the whole thing, there was a family standing next to us whose children were screaming at the poor bears to lure them closer, of course the opposite was the case.

Beautiful place to visit in bern in the weekend and enjoy the views of the bridge and the river 😀, if you are in bern you should visit the place and go up hill to the see the old Town of bern from above

You can take a walk on the river next to the park. It is very leisurely, the air is fresh and the scenery is pleasant! This is a great place!

Bears are not happy in captivity. As a taxpayer from Bern, I am ashamed to help finance this animal exploitation!

Bear Park: a mandatory destination when visiting Bern. When the bears are in hibernation (normal ~ December to March) the visit is still worth it: beautiful view of the old town with the cathedral!

I was surprised that the bears were closer than I thought! I visited in mid-September, and the bears were very active, perhaps because the summer was long and the days were hot.

I was there in the winter and yes, the bears are sleeping 😩, so come back in the summer

Beautiful park in a fairytale city like Bern. Beauty in all its glory. I was here on April 23.

Unfortunately, as it was January 1st, the bears were hibernating and we didn't see them. We will be back in the spring

You can't see the Bear at the Moment. Even if they have Enaught food,they are in Winter sleep at the Moment. One small moment came out for a minute.In Spring 🌱 or Summer 🌞 suggested:)

Had a great visit here today on 4th Jan. One cute little guy came up close to have his photo taken. He wasn’t out for long so I think we got lucky with our timing. Handy free lift down the hill if you can’t manage the stairs. The location is stunning and worth hanging around for photos. Had a coffee and snack in the cafe too. Highly recommend if you’re visiting Bern

Didn't get to see the bears as they didn't come out. Nice surroundings in the area though.

Again disappointing site. There were no bears in sight during winter. Why? Because they were hibernating, looks like a forced one as I had seen a lot of active bears in winter. Totally unexpected. A complete waste of time during winter holidays. Expect some nice views, nothing is there. Infact, the whole Bern city is a complete disappointment and boring. Tip: never visit Bern in winter.

Good relaxing place with stairs, slope or an elevator to go down to the lake. The bears don’t usually come out but we were lucky enough to catch a sight.

A small space that did not live up to expectations. In winter the bears are isolated and you won't see any bears. But it's worth visiting, after all, just cross a bridge from the old center.

This place is located near the historical part of Bern. Near the river, a high beautiful bridge. On a small embankment you can relax, feed the ducks, and watch the river flow. The bears have two enclosures: closer to the bridge - a relatively small one, and below, near the river - just part of a park or grove. In most parts, seeing a bear is a great success, there is a lot of vegetation and they do not go into open areas. But at about 2 p.m., food for them is scattered around the large enclosure and the bears are transferred to the small one. While they are waiting for lunch, they also eat a little, swim in the pond and just walk - you can see them very clearly in this enclosure.

The name comes from the bear. Before tourists enter the old town, they can see the zoo specially built for bears by the local government on the roadside. It is very special and you can also feel the harmonious coexistence between nature and people. If you visit in winter, bears may take a rest, so be aware of this. Take pictures of the old town of Bern from the bridge next to this park. The location is very good. You can see the old town built along the terrain. It is very flavorful and paired with the scenery on the side. The house and the river view make me want to live here for retirement!

Today it snowed all day. Little Bear didn't come out to show himself. However, the atmosphere and view were good, like a painting. The whole city was white with snow. The photos came out beautiful in another way. I'm impressed.

Small fenced park right on the river where there are free bears. The park is located very close to the city center and is very suggestive for the view. Obviously in winter bears hibernate 😅

Very nice place where you can admire the beauty of the bears symbol of Bern! I don't like the fact that they become a tourist attraction and are closed in a space which, although large, limits the animal! Besides, beautiful view of the river with Swiss roofs!

Went there but can’t see any bear in presence probably it’s too cold they all went to their space to keep warm But the scenery there is amazing Will visit again when there again
