Restaurant Castello in Laufen-Uhwiesen

We were only there to visit the Rhine Falls but it is definitely a beautiful place. I can't say anything about the restaurant. But in my opinion it is the best point to see the Rhine Falls. That's why we were there.

It was only operated indoors and was probably just changing shifts for the service staff. This reduced the employees' attention a little.

wonderful restaurant, wonderful Atmosphere. Burning fireplace, around beautiful candelabra with burning candles, many comfortable chairs with skin's, very comfortable and cozy. The restaurant is very tasty, the service is amazing 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼, I haven’t seen such service for a long time, I’m happy to visit this restaurant again

Beautiful panorama and nice atmosphere

Completely overwhelmed. Don't know who ordered what. Wait 30 minutes until someone takes the order and then again until someone comes with the bill.

We were invited there for a birthday brunch with a very rich buffet, great drinks and very, very good and courteous service. The buffet had everything your heart could desire. From A like Anitpasti to Z like (Hefe)Zopf. Salmon, really outstanding cheese, various sausage and ham specialties, fruit, muesli, various bread, sausages, bacon, hash browns and, above all, freshly fried fried eggs and scrambled eggs of your choice. The service was very friendly and attentive. The drinks were served very quickly - a full 5 stars for that too. The location is also very exclusive, you can eat great directly at the Rhine Falls. Anyone who doesn't get their money's worth here is probably allergic to everything or eats fallen fruit!

We wanted to go for a walk at the Rhine Falls. The parking lot is in poor condition. Extremely many potholes and a single mud fight and then you pay 9 francs for 2 hours!

Very bad service. You are not picked up at the entrance as there is a sign there, but the waitress just looks at you askance. After 10 minutes we chose the place independently. Service only brings 2 tickets for 5 people. Staff seem like they don't want to work. As a result you are not served even though the restaurant was empty. Then after 5 minutes we got up and left without being served. Absolutely not recommended for this price/performance ratio.

It was simply the best food and service in a long time. And this red cabbage is simply divine.

We were in the knight's hall on the evening of December 2nd where we ate fondue chinoise. According to the description, it is offered as a "fire pot"... but it is a perfectly normal rechaud with a pot of meat broth that wasn't even really hot. The soup had the same character... lukewarm, watery and tasteless. All 6 versions of the sauces for the meat tasted like differently seasoned tube mayonnaise. The atmosphere in the knight's hall was more like a train station buffet. The whole thing for an impressive 68 francs per person. In my opinion, totally overpriced, bordering on reasonable. Open white wine for less than 40 francs for half a liter is also not available. Conclusion: We went there to eat 3 times...the first, the last and the only time. With the best will in the world, we cannot recommend the restaurant with this shamelessly exaggerated pricing policy, which does not correspond to the quality of the offering. We ordered a snack with several different dishes. Unfortunately our order was lost. After asking about it after about 40 minutes, we were told everything about how it led to this. However, no regrets, no apology or accommodation. The manager didn't show up, despite being asked. Therefore, more appearances, like his. Clothes don't make a boss who takes responsibility. Not even after the bill was paid was an apology over the counter. Conclusion: you are placed here, but appearance does not correspond to reality. A truly magical place to relax, eat and drink. Great service, attentive and courteous. Since we had a company event, the food was unfortunately specified. Nevertheless, we had a lovely evening and really enjoyed the evening.

Unfortunately, I find the Laufen restaurant locally too touristy. Starting point for a spectacular visit to the Rhine Falls on foot or by lift. Very impressive after a heavy rain.

Rhine Falls is great. In the souvenir shop in Laufen Castle The saleswoman was completely unfriendly to my guests from the USA.

The castle by the river and the waterfall are very beautiful and a unique experience worth a visit. For those who visit the Rhine Falls, passing through it is very enjoyable, with ancient houses, stunning views and a magical atmosphere.

It was just a beer, efficient service and a beautifully located terrace, it's a shame that the walls surrounding the terrace are so high and block the beautiful view.

A beautiful castle with a great view of the waterfall. There is a restaurant on the territory of the castle. There is also something to see inside the castle. I really enjoyed reading the reviews, very interesting. You can go down/up on the glass elevator. There are several observation decks, but the most interesting is by the water.

Very popular at weddings. Very nice terrace. Nice friendly staff. Special allergies are taken into account.

Super great place Nice ambience

I was able to hold a wedding in the castle (knight's hall) last Saturday. The entire planning process went smoothly from the start. Questions were answered very quickly and in detail and the service/kitchen staff did a great job on the wedding day! As a wedding planner, it is particularly important for me to have reliable and competent service providers at my side. Laufen Castle absolutely lived up to this requirement! I can only recommend it to everyone and hope to be able to work with this great team again soon :)

Delicious food. Highly recommend the trout beetroot risotto and the venison. The sauces were rich and unique and I loved the fact that it was served with seasonal mushrooms

Dear Team We were with you on Sunday September 3rd, 2023. Unfortunately, the offer didn't convince us. Criticism: - The hall was full and the noise level was unbearably high - The selection was not enough for 60chf - Often it was only refilled upon request - The cheese board was full of crumbs and the selection was modest (truffle cheese was already gone by 11am) - The pancakes were dry and hard - The quality of the food was okay - The service forgot several orders - We had specifically reserved for a birthday brunch (no greetings from the kitchen) - Parking is NOT included - There wasn't much of a view Good: - Very warm staff - Gluten-free bread was baked - Drinks were included - Great location

My son and mom liked their food, but my husband and I could barely bare ours. Mine was so salty that I had a headache the rest of the evening. If you’re looking to be able to see the falls from the restaurant, you can’t and we couldn’t see much because there was a wedding that took up most of the outside.

Beautiful location, neat terrace. However, we decided to only have one drink because one of the male waiters seemed unfriendly and not hospitable. Everything was curt, no time to ask questions, for example (whether there was cake). When paying, debit card was taken from hand. This was not asked politely. We really missed a bit of communication and decency in this. We cannot give an opinion regarding the other staff/food.

In this place the prices are simply exorbitant. We were charged 8.50 euros for a bottle of still water.

We were at the big brunch in the Rittersaal with two families. The food, service, ambience and view were really great. The buffet was very extensive and high quality and the employees were extremely friendly. There was even a children's room with a really nice, multilingual teacher where the children could paint, do crafts and dress up - great idea!

We had booked the summer buffet on July 31st! The quality of the buffet was mixed for the amount paid, I would have liked the starters to be of higher quality and the main courses, especially the fish, were kept in the warming container for too long, which made it dry. The service sometimes took too long or orders were forgotten. It was also a shame that the two tables were placed in the middle of the terrace and you had no choice about their placement on the terrace despite arriving early

Happy Switzerland’s birthday 🇨🇭. I'm really disappointed with the quality of the meat, the side dishes and some starters weren't good. E.g. The ravioli looked so worn out, a purchased product and carelessly presented. Some of the other dishes were not seasoned (no spices on the table either) Service and ambience were good. Price performance not appropriate. For a buffet sfr. 99.- per person without drinks, which and again sfr. 42.- cost. One liter of water (tap water) for sfr. 8.50 that's a bit too much. On the whole, for tourists who pay that, yes, but not for me, I don't recommend the restaurant!

The personnel was really friendly, warm and welcoming (both the lady and the man)! Location is perfect and big nice terrace. It was our 3. time here, so we tried different meals and always good quality and taste :) Just please change the menu more frequently ;)

Beautiful adventure evening in the Rheinfall-Türmli with a direct view of the Rhine Falls and a wonderful six-course menu. The service was very attentive and friendly (Carlotta). The event was also peppered with various surprises. We would be happy to book such an event again.

I know Laufen Castle from my childhood. And now after 70 years I was there again, just great. We enjoyed a delicious lunch in the beautiful garden and, on top of that, the extremely friendly and attentive service. A big thank you and hopefully see you next time!

Apart from the beautiful view, the excellent food and the friendly service, this lady should be a role model for many. Friendly, humorous and accommodating. Big praise for that. I will recommend it.

We were there to get to the Rhine Falls. But all paths end at a ticket machine. You have to pay €5 to get to the platform. We prefer to go to the opposite side. You also have a great, free view of the Rhine Falls. The boat trips also start here

For the price the food was just average. Took the tartare. Meat was probably tartare pre-cut from the freezer. The sauce was probably ready-made because it tasted like any small inn. Not bad but not a taste revelation either. Rather carelessly prepared, I can get it even more beautifully prepared in my cafeteria for half the price. Pea risotto tasted good. Here too, just risotto packed into a plate and ready. No love when preparing. Unfortunately it's too expensive for what's on offer. Rice with frozen peas for 33 francs is a bit much. I would have expected more from the chef. Maybe some pea puree with the rice. Or when cooking, add the puree at the end to make the whole thing look nice. A little decoration for the eyes wouldn't have hurt given the price. Service was ok but nothing more. You can tell that unskilled people work here. For the price I expect more that you feel like a guest. Especially with the location and ambience. That's really great.

beautiful ballroom in a impressive surrounding (Rheinfalls). Everything was good. Food was nice. Nevertheless nothing was truly great. Nothing surprised us. So this is why a 4 and no 5. A bit too touristy all around the place because of the obvious attraction of the closeby Rheinfalls.

The usher was unfriendly. According to her charisma, she doesn't like dogs. There were two of us with a dog, and she didn't offer us any of the three free tables on the edge. They were allowed to be occupied by people without dogs. The service, on the other hand, was very friendly and accommodating and even brought water for the dog. Main courses are very overpriced. Dessert, on the other hand, is reasonably priced. With the latte macchiato, the bottom part of the milk was cold. I passed this information on to the waitress. She brought me a new latte macchiato (on the house), but unfortunately the bottom part of the milk in the glass was cold.

Sensational ambience. Was invited to a wedding reception. The service staff is very accommodating. I would have to give 6 stars for the food. Cooked with love.

Went through the complex to the Rhine Falls. The castle is well preserved and of course has a fantastic location.

We booked Schloss Laufen for our civil wedding and would do the same again at any time. The food, the service, the ambience, everything was fantastic. In addition, of course, there is also the wonderful location, because you could see the Rhine Falls from our hall. We have eaten there before and will do so again. A big congratulations to everyone and thank you for making our wedding so unforgettable.

Splendid view of the Rhine Falls, although to access the most panoramic point you need to buy a ticket. For the restaurant you need to book because it is always full but do so because the food is really good. Imaginative dishes with a good vegan/vegetarian choice, perfect service and a sublime atmosphere, after all we are inside a castle. Recommended at least once (and only once, since it is very expensive).

Well worth the visit. Spectacular view of the Rheinfalls and the Rhein river. Easily accessible by foot or public transport. You can honestly spend a good few hours here between this side of the Rheinfalls and the other side. There are boat rides during the spring / summer months which take you right up to the waterfalls, pretty spectacular to see the powerful falls so close. It can get busy with tourists so keep that in mind when planning a visit.

We celebrated a party here with 18 people and the service was great: friendly, professional and very personable! A big thank you to Cynthia :) Food was also excellent! The communication for organizing the festival was quick, easy and very friendly - a big thank you to Ms. Stiep. There were even additional toys and painting materials provided for the children, which was very nice. Overall, I can highly recommend it to everyone!

We attended a wedding aperitif here and felt very comfortable. The place has historical charm. The food is not just 0-8-15. We found it exciting and tasty to be able to try out the different appetizers. The staff is very friendly and attentive. For my daughters, their favorite coloring pages were printed out and colored pencils were provided so that they could pass the time. Thank you very much. When we are in the area again, we would love to stop by the restaurant.

I visited here like last year May with my bf. The weather was really good so we decided to sit outside and it was totally a wonderful choice. We ordered salmon dish and bratwurst. Both tasted amazing. Still willing to visit here again, just to eat that salmon dish again ^-^

This is a well situated restaurant when you come to visit the Rhine Falls, close to the border between Switzerland and Germany. This past Saturday there was restricted access to the premises because of a wedding. Food was mediocre at best and served far too quickly to have been prepared after I arrived. The vegetables were soggy and the French fries industrial. The list of open wines is restricted but of good quality and service is OK. Look for another restaurant if you want to eat well!

Wonderful and very fine Sunday brunch, I enjoyed it very much. Oh yes, the dessert buffet at the end, the Oepfelchuächli with vanilla sauce and this Toblerone mousse were sensationally good. Thank you.
