Restaurant Grotte aux Fées in Vérossaz

Short walk to the cave is very nice. You will pass the castle and have some great views on the surrounding mountains, Rhone river and a small town of St. Maurice. For someone who deals with cave tourism and cave management, I was shocked to see so much lampenflora (flora created by artificial light). This is very damaging for the cave environment. Nevertheless, at the end of the cave there is a very high waterfall - but be careful, the stairs there are not in a good condition.

Lovely friendly restaurant. Great place to stop after a visit to the Grotte aux Fees. Free parking (2hrs) at the foot of the hill by the Castle entrance and then a 10-15 minute walk up the hill. Doable even with small kids. Caves are fun - not spectacular until the waterfall at the end but the rather tacky fairy hunt is great for kids!

We went there on Monday. Both the restaurant and the Grotto were closed. Nobody knew, on the website, nothing was written. Just above at the entrance to the castle, a small sign: "wegen Sanierung rest. plus Grotte geschlossen". Great when you drive 2 hours for nothing.....

Beautiful cave, interesting visit, lasts around 40 minutes. Very good restaurant but expensive.

Terrace with a great view! Very friendly service. Delicious 😋 dishes at reasonable prices. A nice trip. A somewhat arduous climb, not for everyone! But the view rewards the climb. The grotto is worth seeing, but not suitable for people with claustrophobia. All in all a successful excursion destination.

A really very beautiful grotto. We were here on a very hot summer day and were able to cool off during the tour. The staff is very friendly.

Unsmiling staff, little choice, more of a snack than a restaurant... No small portion for children... Hairs found in the carrots and tartar sauce... And the pompom on the Garonne CHF28.- for a plate of salads with 3 slices of cold meat!!!

Car parks at the entrance right in front of the castle. I bought the ticket in conjunction with the visit to the Saint-Maurice abbey and it cost 20Fr/person. Fantastic climb to the cave through the forest. There was a restaurant at the entrance to the cave, but we didn't try it. The cave stretches for 1km and at the end there is a spectacular waterfall. It's poorly lit, so you'll want to bring a flashlight and good footwear. It was a really cool experience, well worth the visit. Friendly employee.

Entrance to the fairy cave for 10 chf, place not to be missed

Charming restaurant located at the entrance to the cave and overlooking a waterfall. The service is pleasant, it is more of a snack than a restaurant strictly speaking, the menu is very limited...just enough to perk up in case of a craving after the visit!

A very beautiful cave... But the lighting doesn't highlight it; the bride's veil, deserves lighting which highlights it (example of colors on demand, or changing) to the wise.

We only visited the cave. Great discovery at the end of the visit: an impressive waterfall. The visit is done alone with written explanations that are difficult to read due to lack of lighting. For children, there is a little game: you have to find 5 fairies hidden in the cave. Beautiful path to access the cave passing in front of the castle of St Maurice.

Unmissable stop....tour of the Vérossaz plateau.

Absolutely avoid, take advantage of its monopoly situation. The beautiful view does not allow us to accept cured dried meat, spaghetti with hair and the smell of rancid oil floating in the air. When we point out the hair on the plate, the waiter claims that it is not his...this cannot be made up

We still love visiting the cave and eating a little homemade treat on the way out.

We tasted the crust, it was very good and the setting was very beautiful.

Perfect for a family moment in the cool or sheltered from bad weather.

Very good experience and very pleasant staff. We had lunch on the terrace, after visiting the cave we ate very well “la croute du chef”. I recommend and I will return there on my next visit to the cave. Accessible only on foot it seems to me.

Came here by chance and thought it was great. You go about 500m deep into the mountain and are rewarded with a small lake and a waterfall.

We did not try the restaurant. The climb into the forest to access the cave is a bit rough 😮 but upon arrival the view of the plain is nice. Cave temperature 10° and humid, but the course, all flat, is cool, with a pretty lake and a waterfall at the end. A walk to do with children, there is a competition for them. Summer 2022

The meal was good, but slightly expensive. Additionally, there wasn't enough on the plates. It's a shame. For the price I would have liked to have had a little more.

Extremely expensive and incompetent! €92.50 for a salad, a melon and ham and 4 nuggets with fries. We order half a bottle of wine and they bring us an ice bucket without ice or cold water The waitress doesn't know how to use a lemonade maker, we have to open our bottle of wine alone Nice cave but restaurant to avoid!

The restaurant is worth it. The view of the Vaudois slope is magnificent. The young staff is very friendly. The plates are well presented.

Very cool to view. Tip to bring a jacket, because it is very cold in the cave. Fantastic beautiful lake in the mountain. Fairytale! Takes about an hour.

Well, here is the most authentic opinion you can find and which repeats what is said in the other comments: - The place is really nice - There is a 25 minute walk that ends with a waterfall - We did not have the opportunity to try the restaurant, but it gives a nice view of the rest of the valley - The temperature of the cave is 9/11 degrees celsius - You can have your children follow a treasure hunt (wins at stake) - This place is not accessible by stroller (and yes, it is a cave and you have to climb 10-15 minutes from the parking lot to get there) - There are legends that you can follow in the cave as an adult or child, and that you can follow when you arrive near the fountain in particular. - The price is “tolerable” Good discovery ! Ps: if you find this place expensive, do not go to the Gorges du Trient not far from this place. You would be disappointed.

Cave with small geological cavities that are quite curious and worth visiting. It is quite long and entertaining. Throughout the cave you can find little fairies and 1 surprise character watching you from the walls. You have to be attentive!!! And when you reach the end, an incredible surprise of a small lake with a waterfall inside the cave itself!!! Very well priced entry: 10 CHF per adult and 7 per child over 4 years old. Essential visit!!!!!!!!!

Its a different experience and very pretty. Although I thought it was a longer way to the fall. (not claustrophobic friendly haha)

We didn't eat at the restaurant, we only visited the cave. The visit to the cave is worth it because you have to climb a lot before reaching the entrance. You shouldn't expect lots of stalactites but it's a beautiful place with large faults, tunnels etc. and at the end of the visit you find a pretty waterfall. The visit is done with a short guide to learn more about the formation of the cave, faults etc.

The grotto is about 15 minutes on foot. reachable. It's a bit of a steep climb. Once you get to the top you have to pay an entrance fee. You will then receive a document in which you can read about the individual items in the grotto, what they mean or how they came about. There is also a café. The path in the grotto is partly poorly lit. It's just rocky, there are only 1 or 2 stalactites and stalagmites. Unfortunately, the stream has been drained. At the back there is the waterfall, which you can walk around. Depending on that, you might get wet easily. Bring a jacket because it is cold. Parking spaces are available on the main street. People over 1.80m have to duck their heads. Suitable for the whole family Price too expensive for what you see.

Note for the cave and not the restaurant. So a very nice trip to this cave. Don't expect thousands of stalactites, however the 500 meters of tunnel to the waterfall really pleased our children. Numerous cracks and faults in the rock.

Spectacular. Free tour, a beautiful cave, which can be seen in no less than half an hour and with unforgettable views in the final part. You have to go in warmly as it is very cold.

Compared to other caves in Switzerland, this one is not very interesting. Here, a disused military supply tunnel was converted into a tourist point. The climb from the parking lot to the grotto is only worth it because of the small restaurant, which offers nice desserts and also expenses. But if you're expecting an exciting grotto, you'll probably be disappointed.

It was a wonderful visit to this exciting cave, but you must wear a coat because it is very cold inside the cave. The restaurant was good and the staff were nice. I recommend visiting.

Great place to visit with kids! The fairy hunt was a successful activity which my kids enjoyed a lot! I highly recommend visiting this with the kids. If you’re going during the summer, do take something to cover you as it might get quite cold inside.

The setting is very nice. I just find it a shame that the restaurant closes at the same time as the cave. A little coffee at the exit would have been nice.

Very nice no reservation needed and it's worth the detour

The grotto and the waterfall were very impressive. However, the search for fairies was a little slow and sometimes very difficult for the children to find. The fairy figures that you had to look for were all hidden at least 3 to 4 meters high. Still a little heavy for 4 year old children. An impressive trip to be able to walk so far into the cave. 1 time is enough.

Nice visit, pretty waterfall at the end of the visit. Allow approximately 45 minutes for the entire visit, reading each numbered step.

The footpath is a hike of around 25 minutes with small children. The grotto itself is a narrow path with a height of around 1.70-1.85. At the end there is a beautiful waterfall at the end of the grotto. However, it is a dead end and you walk the kilometer back the same way. Corona is technically problematic and you have to wear a mask in the grotto. Suitable as a half-day trip, but not very interesting for adults. People with claustrophobia should leave it alone.

Cave with little interest... No guided tour, you go there alone with a booklet in which the explanations are really not very interesting. The lake room is quite small and therefore less impressive than expected. On the other hand, the view from up there is superb and the restaurant is nice. Go visit the abbey and its treasure instead, it's really fascinating!
