Restaurant Kreuzboden in Saas-Grund

Way too expensive. 10chf portion of fries! 25chf bratwurst with fries, you can't afford that with several children... Drink prices are fair. Unfortunately, you shouldn't be surprised that there are hardly any guests there...

I went to the Kreuzbogen mountain restaurant (self-service) twice in September 2023 and had a very tasty pullet pork burger and a cheese slice there, both of which are recommended. The price-performance ratio is absolutely correct for both the food and the drinks. The landlord and his team were friendly and accommodating. On the sun terrace you have a beautiful view of the Mischabel chain and you can enjoy the panorama in lounge chairs or at the table with a drink.

Food was very tasty, fresh and reasonably priced. However, the waiting time was very long. The interior is very impersonal, but the view is magnificent. Portions are big!

We've been waiting for something like this for years, finally an excellent range of meals. The food tastes fantastic. Be sure to try pizza! Lovingly prepared and served. Just keep it up!!! ❤️👍🏻

It took a solid 40 minutes before we were allowed to pick up our food from this self-service restaurant. The food was ok, but the price was rather expensive.

At first we thought that the guest pager had run out of battery. When after 45 minutes the food - we're talking about a hot dog, burger and bratwurst - still wasn't there, we politely asked about the status of things. The cook then said that there were others waiting too! The lady at the checkout was so friendly that she refunded us the full amount after 60 minutes. We left the restaurant hungry because there was no food... So if you go to the Kreuzboden, which is incredibly beautiful, TAKE YOUR FOOD WITH YOU. The umbrella bar saved us with delicious sandwiches ;-)

I can't entirely agree with the previous reviews. The new tenant's offer must certainly take effect first. I think it's a shame that you can't put your own salad together, nor can you pour your own bowl of soup for lunch and then go to the checkout. For each of these (or together) an optical and acoustic beeper must be taken to the checkout, which then sounds loudly when the food is ready. In my opinion, this will bring snakes with it at some point. The food itself is good and there is nothing to complain about. For the ski break and to strengthen yourself!

With all the bad reviews I wasn't sure how dramatized it really was, so we went to test it out. Regarding my food, I can say that fries with nuggets for 15 CHF are still okay for the location of the restaurant. However, it is true that the fries were soggy and almost cold. It's like they've been kept warm with the lid on for an hour. I also think that 3.50chf for 0.3l of sparkling water from the tap is a bit excessive. It's basically just water. Croissants with minced meat were a bit too crunchy. The service was perfectly fine, the ambience outside is very nice with the view. Okay inside too. It's still ok as a quick break while skiing, but don't expect too much. Anyone who is a little more picky will only be given 1 star. Therefore, my concern for the restaurant is to increase the quality of the food. Then it may cost 10-20% more.

Yes, something has happened! Very friendly staff, the food is delicious and beautifully presented. No more waiting for food as the pager will be delivered, which I think is a great solution. This way you can sit comfortably at the table and the food doesn't get cold because everything has already been paid for beforehand.

Now you can eat again in Kreuzboden. The workflow is still complicated and should be improved.

Cool, change of tenant we thought. Unfortunately, everything has now gotten even worse and even the new people don't understand how a self-service restaurant in a ski resort is supposed to work: 1. Completely stupid system at the checkout. After each order, the man or woman goes into the kitchen to place the order and so the cash register is not occupied, whereas today, for example, there were at least 20 people queuing at the cash register. We as a family find it really difficult to pick up the food again with our ski clothes - you get a beeper. A second cash register and a different system are urgently needed. That's not how it works at all. 2. Menu selection insufficient. Unfriendly to children. There are no more children's menus - not even a small portion of fries. Spaghetti was inedible - both for the kids and for us adults. Screens where the menus used to be displayed do not work. The menu information is only located at the main entrance. In a family ski resort, a children's menu is a must! We are absolutely disappointed with this service, checkout system, food. It's a shame, because this restaurant could be turned into something great!!! A lot of people in the restaurant today complained about the system. It would be nice if something changed here urgently.

Finally new tenants in this beautiful place. The price/performance ratio is absolutely great and the food is really good. I can only recommend everyone who had bad experiences back then to go back here.

expensive and bad... a few "meters" above cheaper and better

I've been coming to Saas Grund several times a year for 15 years now and skiing on the Hohsaas Glacier. When we had lunch today at 1:45 p.m. and my wife ordered chicken nuggets and fries for herself and her older daughter, she was first allowed to wait 25 minutes, even though the restaurant was almost empty, and was then told that the fries were gone. The two men in the kitchen seemed completely overwhelmed, even though there was nothing going on. This can be cheerful for the high season. I know where I'm going to eat in February, but definitely not in the Kreuzboden mountain restaurant. I've never experienced anything so bad here in 15 years. It's a shame about the beautiful ski area. If you run a restaurant like this, you should have some idea about it!

Unbelievable how the restaurant is run. Sliding door to the terrace is broken, so you leave it open in winter! A cash register opened, the waiting time was unbearably long. Food is so-so, warm drinks should be avoided as they are cold after queuing at the checkout anyway.

The service was very nice. However, the restaurant is very bland and ICE COLD. The offer is very sparse. The coffee, although fresh from the machine, was only lukewarm - so it didn't taste good. Since I was very cold, I had to leave after a short time - I guess the heating was off or set to low (?) but in any case it was icy! Very unfortunate.

Too expensive. Switzerland is quite expensive, but a weizen beer and cappucino for CHF 13.90 is disproportionate. It is cheaper at many mountain restaurants. The employee was very friendly.

If you like a plate of light fries the size of a Badi portion for a whopping 11.90 plus overpriced ketchup for 0.70, this is the right place! Such a poorly run "restaurant" is a blight on an otherwise great place like Kreuzboden! You should be able to give zero stars!

A disappointment in this actually nice restaurant. It started with a restaurant that was full of smoke because the steam was probably switched off. The overpriced food was really bad! And I'm really not picky. The french fries oil was rancid, the hamburgers came without sauce, the rolls fell apart when you touched them and the prosciutto pizza was carelessly topped with two large slices of ham in the middle. And the open drinks had hardly any carbonation. Once and never again…!

Food wasn't good. Bratwurst fries and onion sauce were unfortunately inedible as the sauce was probably long gone, the child couldn't eat the children's penne and unfortunately the barley soup was also inedible. An expensive, inedible fun for over CHF 60.- Report was made to the boss, but he wasn't interested in it......there are enough tourists 👎🏻

Unfortunately, a very disappointing visit to this restaurant, overpriced (they even charged CHF 1.20 for a measly roll with the salad plate and it was hard as a rock), Cola Zero was openly stale without carbonation, long waiting times, everything feels somehow grubby. As much as we like to support the local restaurant, we will definitely take our own lunch here next time :-(

The restaurant is a disgrace for this lovely place. Food is cold and inedible. Plus everything is way too expensive. Restaurant itself would be nice and in a top location.

Unfortunately I can't give 0 stars. Spaghetti is overcooked, Bolognese sauce is like a poorly seasoned soup, Älpler macarons are not cooked through, soup is inedible and smells burnt and like crude oil. The price is outrageous considering the subpar performance and that in a self-service restaurant. In the summer/autumn of 2020, I had hope that things would get better here with the new team. Apparently it's gone again. A pity. Was the last visit for a long time.

Summer 2021: Food lukewarm, checkout staff overwhelmed, interim cleaning (Covid 19) zero. Poor offer and not everything that is on the boards. Only positive, very nice view and space. Winter 2022: No improvement, if anything it's gotten worse, ordered a hot dog in the outside tent, got half-frozen sandwich bread with a cold Wienerli. Staff overwhelmed at lunchtime. What does the owner do with so much bad feedback, probably nothing because people have no alternative. You should send the health department over. The chef smokes comfortably at the main entrance, during lunchtime.

We had already consumed over 150.- when the card payment for 2 snacks was refused because "CHF 10.00 minimum purchase". better to avoid.

I have never visited a worse mountain restaurant. The menus and drinks are far too expensive. And the food is still bad. For example, the bratwursts are cold. Another example: A portion of fries on a children's plate has the same content as a portion of fries for adults. Only the price is much higher for adults. The cleanliness is poor, even disgusting. (and that during Corona times) The tables are not cleaned, or only after several hours. The handrail to the stairs to the basement has apparently been broken for several weeks (see older review) and is absolutely dangerous, especially with ski boots. The staff is unfriendly and somehow I have the feeling that they don't understand what goes on in a self-service restaurant at all. I hope that there will be a change of host next winter season.

The worst mountain restaurant I have ever been to! There's a cloud of greasy haze throughout the restaurant and you smell like you've been standing in the kitchen all day. Extremely long waiting times even with a few people. Process flow and cash register operation a disaster! Your food will definitely be cold by the time you finally sit down at the table. How can a Restsurant survive like that? The answer: There is absolutely no competition on the entire mountain. Especially when the Hohsass gondola is not in operation. It's worth the descent into the valley and a restaurant in the village!

Far too expensive for a self-service restaurant. Tables are not cleaned. Hospitality is a foreign word. I went to the restaurant with my family this week. This will be the last time until a change of host takes place.

We had to wait about an hour until we got the food and could pay. The food was ready very quickly. The problem was that you had to wait in line for so long from getting your food to the checkout that the food was cold by the time you got to your seat. There was no discount for the incomplete meal and the long wait... I definitely wouldn't recommend this restaurant!

During Corona there is a shortage of staff and a large proportion of the offer is missing from 1 p.m. The cashiers hardly speak any German and there is always smoking at the entrance. Edit: 10 minutes later the cables also ran out.

For the first time here again in years, unfortunately nothing has improved. 24.00 is definitely too much for Alplermacrons in a self-service restaurant, especially when the pasta is half raw. Masks are consistently not worn in the kitchen and the chef appears anything but well-groomed. In the ski area you can get better and cheaper food everywhere, with service!

We weren't there until after 3 p.m. and we still had delicious quiche, salad and French fries with chicken nuggets ;-). The heated seat cushions were simply amazing!

Due to Corona, the whole team was canceled. The replacement team is completely overwhelmed. And then the freezer broke down during our visit, but the half-thawed ice cream is still sold at full price.

Unfortunately the take away doesn't work. Orders are forgotten. How about issuing numbers per paid order? Then nothing would be forgotten and everyone would get their paid meals fairly within a tolerable waiting time.

Currently a disaster when it comes to take away. Everything takes far too long, nothing is prepared and the prices are far too high for what is on offer. Even on the Hohsaas the prices are better and the quality is miles better. The waiting time is also a lot shorter on the Hohsaas, even if there are more people. Actually, something like this shouldn't be supported...it ruins the good reputation of the ski area.

Wir haben ein Plättli und das Familienmenü (4 Schnitzel mit Pommes und Salatschüssel) bestellt. Die Portionen waren riesig. Das Personal bemüht und freundlich.Im Sommer definitiv angenehmer als im Winter mit den vielen Leuten ;-)

Malgré une superbe situation, aucun charme ni aucun effort dans la qualité des plats. Fortes puant l’huile probablement bien usée ; odeur de friture omniprésente nauséabonde : bref, à éviter ! Incompréhensible de gâcher une telle mine d’or!

Wir waren heute Sonntag bei strahlendem Wetter im Bergrestaurant. Im Angebot Grill Spezialitäten. Es war sehr fein, die Bedienung war äußerst freundlich und zuvorkommend. Wir kommen sicher wieder.

Ich habe heute nach einem Sandwich gefragt und habe ein frisch zubereitetes leckeres mit Trockenfleisch erhalten! super flexibel. merci

Gar nicht sauber Unfreundliches Personal Für 20 Fr.- Essen war nicht mal richtig gekocht.

Ich muss das so beschreiben! Den schönen Weg «Alpenblumen Promenade» von der «Almagelleralp» zur «Kreuzbodenalp» habe ich schon ca. 3x begangen und jedesmal war‘s ein Genuss, auf der Terrasse bei einem Glas Fendant (freundliche Bedienung) zu sitzen und das herrliche Panorama zu sitzen, bevor ich dann jeweils bequem zu Tal gondelte! Ich freue mich auf das nächste mal!

Wir waren heute Mittag hier. Es war sehr überraschend. Tiramisu war noch gefroren, glühwein kein glühwein und überteuert. Pommes immerhin warm, doch das Ketchup nicht einmal von Heinz. Leider ist keine Besserung zu erkennen gegenüber dem Vorjahr. Schade.

Leider Nein! Preise sind im oberen segment und das essen eher im unteren. An sonsten währe die Lokalität super. Viel Platz und tolle Aussicht.

Ich habe noch nie einen so schlechten Burger in meinem Leben gegessen. Fleisch komplett ausgetrocknet, so das das Fleisch hart war. Brötchen ebenfalls ausgetrocknet. Sorry einfach ungeniessbar.

Man kann sitzen innen und außen mit sehr schönen Blick auf die Berge. Es ist sehr gut besucht, so ist hier ziemlich laut. Einen Sitzplatz draußen findet man immer.

Das Restaurant ist sehr schön und die Aussicht topp! Bis unsere Bestellung aufgenommen worden ist, dauerte es sehr lange. Andere an unserem Tisch, die später gekommen sind wurden zuerst bedient. Das Personal lief mehrmals an uns vorbei und hat unsere Rufe überhört. Wir mussten 15 Minuten warten bis wir bestellen konnten. Der Burger war mittelmässig, Pulled Pork und Beefburger...das Pulled Pork konnnte man nicht sehen, Sauce war auch kaum auf dem Burger vorhanden. Es gab ca. 8 Frites, eine eher kleine Portion.Wir bestellten noch einen Sommersalat mit Kräuterdressing. Dieser hatte grosse Klumpen Kräuterbutter drin jedoch kaum Sauce. Schade...Das Servicepersonal hatte zu viel zu tun um einen passablen Service zu bieten und das Essen war auch schon besser.

Sehr liebevoll eingerichtetes Restaurant, tolles Essen und ein unschlagbares Preis-Leistungsverhältnis.... TOP!

L'établissement est situé à côté de la télécabine. La terrasse manque de cachet, mais la vue est splendide. La nourriture est bonne. La salade mêlée est très fraîche. Le service est agréable.

Lage top, Qualität der Speisen, Preise und Freundlichkeit des Personals gut. Effizienz und Management haben noch Luft nach oben: Beim Eingang zur Selbstbedienung stand ein Schild «Wir bedienen Sie gerne». Es kam dann niemand (trotz überschaubarer Kundschaft) und ich musste nachfragen, ob das Schild gilt. Dann ging’s relativ zackig. Interieur und Toiletten alt, fast schon wieder hipp. 😄 Seifenspender leer, Handtuchspender dito, der verweist immerhin auf den Lufttrockner (warum den Spender nicht abmontieren?). Insgesamt gemischtes Erlebnis, Potenzial an einem Samstag im Spätsommer ist definitiv vorhanden.

Het restaurant ziet er erg netjes en verzorgd uit. Maar er is een beetje weinig keuze voor de lunch, wel hoge prijzen. Buiten op het terras is het leuk zitten met een drankje. Genietend van het zonnige weer en kijkend naar de mensen uit de bergliften.

Sehr lange Wartezeiten, ein unorganisiertes Team in der Küche. Ich habe wegen den langen Wartezeiten viele Stornierungen beobachten können. Essen ist teilweise vorgekocht und schmeckt auch dementsprechend. Kann ich leider nicht empfehlen.

Sehr aufmerksame und freundliche Bedienungen. Toller Ausblick während des Essens. Preis- Leistung absolut in Ordnung. Uns hat es sehr lecker geschmeckt und wir waren auch von der Portionsgröße überrascht.

Mit neuem Inhaber in 2019 auch wieder ein Highlight. Nette, aufmerksame Bedienung die auch eine super Flammkucken machen kann. sehr zu empfehlen.

Je suis surprise de tous les commentaires négatifs. J'y ai été avec ma famille et nous avons été très bien servis. Nous avons mangé dedans car il y a un grand coin pour que les enfants puissent jouer. En été, c'est un restaurant et non un self service. La nourriture était bonne, le service très sympathique. Tout est fait minute et il y a plusieurs options pour sans gluten, sans lactose,... La vue est magnifique. Franchement, ça va la peine de s'y arrêter !

Das Restaurant hat einer neue Eigentümer. Ist sehr schön renoviert worden. Neue Küche und eine sehr Interessante Überraschende Karte! Super lecker gegessen, gute und freundliche Bedienung. Sehr Empfehlenswert!

Schöne Ambiente mit fantastischem Ausblick. Das Essen war hervorragend und das Personal sehr freundlich. Es hat sich einiges zum Positiven verändert seit dem letzten Mal.

Das Restaurant Kreuzboden ist heute neu eröffnet worden. Es hat ein neues Team und eine neue Chefin (Alexandra).Es wurde viel investiert und das Restaurant ist jetzt richtig schön geworden.Heute gab es ein Apero mit vielen unterschiedlichen Häppchen - alle sehr lecker. Auch vegetarisch und vegan.Toll ist auch die neue Kaminecke.Zum Self-Service Bereich gesellt sich dann auch wieder die Stube dazu. Dort wird es a la Carte Menüs geben, tolle Weine zu vernünftigen Preisen und Premium Kaffee und Tee.Die Karte und der Selfservice Bereich beinhalten neu viele regionale Spezialitäten.Der neue Verwaltungsrat der Bergbahnen Hohsaas hat den richtigen Kurs eingeschlagen. Qualität und die Kundenerwartungen zu übertreffen ist das neue Versprechen.

Neueröffnung Restaurant Kreuzboden - Qualität und Gäste im Fokus! Das Restaurant wurde umgebaut und es hat eine neue Wirtin mit neuem Team darauf. Zudem wird neben dem Selfservice Bereich auch die Stube wieder geöffnet. Dort gibt es regionale A la carte Gerichte. Aber auch die Gerichte im Selfservice sind regional geprägt und von hoher Qualität. Das Restaurant punktet zudem mit toller Gastfreundschaft und Service. Jetzt lohnt es sich auch nur schon für das Restaurant mit der Bergbahn Hohsaas hochzufahren.
