Yummy Swiss food! Rosti is sort of like hash brown, but less dense. It's like baked shredded potatoes. We add cheese and tomatoes for extra goodness. Spatzli is like pasta, but it's a little too salty. Not sure if it is just at this place or how the dish should be. We still like it tho! And finally is corden bleu veal. Probably my least favorite cuz the ham feels a little dry. Very crispy fries. Portion is huge, so we order 3 plates for 5 people and was very full. But because of that, they charge us money for 3 (supposedly 2 not sure why) cups of water lol..

This was an awesome discovery. We had an evening to kill, and wanted to experience fondue in Bern to compare with our other experiences in other parts of the country. We saw that this restaurant had superior reviews, and after checking the details we were convinced this was where we’d park our hat for a dinner. The manager explained he was fully booked, but if we felt 90 minutes was enough time for us, he could squeeze us into a table assigned to a later reservation. Unlike all of the more touristy fondue restaurants that are decorated in a more rustic style, this one is more of a cozy tavern, and the clientele seemed to be mostly locals (I speak the dialect, so i can verify). That says a lot for the authenticity and quality, and explains why they have such good business. The food was excellent, and we had the Bärner (in the style of Bern) fondue, with 6 cheeses and apple wine. Very tasty and rich. The service was attentive and friendly. I heartily recommend this restaurant!!

I went to the restaurant for two consecutive evenings, on the occasion of my birthday. Regarding the food, nothing to complain about, generous and tasty portions. Regarding the service, for the first occasion I must say that the waiter was "absent" for the entire evening; I perceived, annoyingly, his presence only when he "added" a "tip" of 10 francs to the bill of 78 francs, with a quick and inappropriate request for "TIP?" "10 is ok?" ....for zero table service. . As regards the assistance at the table the following evening, there was nothing to complain about, the girl who looked after us was really kind and professional, I remember that she was nice and smiling, with dark hair and of Italian nationality. Unfortunately, given that on the second evening I also wanted to leave a tip commensurate with the service (but this time spontaneously), I was not asked for it at the time of payment, but I sincerely wanted to shake the waitress's hand and thank her. I was sorry I didn't have any cash with me to give her! I undoubtedly recommend You try the restaurant but be careful not to let yourself be taken out to pasture!😂😂😂

Very nice food, mostly Swiss, lots of cheese and charcuteries. Home-made ice cream was a great finish to my rosti dish. Didn’t have a reservation on a Tuesday evening.

I can recommend Lötschberg to anyone who likes cheese. Delicious food, friendly and good service. Sometimes a bit loud when the restaurant is full, but that never bothered me personally.

I went there because it was a good restaurant, but one server left another seat and guided me to the front of the toilet, so I didn‘t feel good. I heard about Asian racism here, and I thought about it 'Is this also like that?‘ .. But I didn’t have any English skills, and I didn‘t want to make things big, so I just stayed. In the other hands, the dishes were delicious.

Restaurant specializing in Swiss dishes located in a side street of the historic centre. The environment is very welcoming and informal with fast service. On the menu you can find many local specialties such as fondue, rosti and raclette. I tried the rosti and liked them a lot, especially for finding local products. The wine selection is also good.

The restaurant is very clean and the interior design is modern. Saturday noon it was full. The service was friendly and fast! Traditional dishes, to be honest, nothing special, but overall it's a good restaurant.

First thing you need to know is that this bar smells cheesy! They specialize in fondue, and have a market inside, so of course, it smells cheesy. The menu has about 5-7 fondue options, which are for a minimum of 2 people. We asked for a special menu that includes fondue, some sort of prosciutto, salad and a Riesling from the house. It was only my second experience with fondue, I can say that the ingredients and the wine were great, but I would have appreciated more options in the menu, since I am not such a huge fan of cheese (but my husband is, so i wanted to enable that experience for him). They also have a huge selection of wines, but the waiter did not recommend anything to us, so we kept with the house wine which was sweet but good. The desserts also are Swiss options, ice cream or pies. In general was an ok place.

Food is fat and salty. Service is slow and impolite. Tap water costs 2CHF and they don't inform you beforehand. Avoid at all cost.

Rosti hearty but heavy and expensive. 30 euros for potatoes and an egg. Paid water. We were not informed of this. Unsuccessful price negotiation, the servers were completely closed and unfriendly.

Terrible service from the Host , he asks if we have a reservation and we say we don't and he replies "why not?" extremely rude. Also a really bad smell inside of the restaurant

Modern and informal environment, typical cuisine with traditional proposals: fondues, schnitzels, rösti, frankfurters... good dishes, with fresh, quality ingredients and well prepared. Good beers. Prices a little high (for us Italians) but we enjoyed an excellent dinner.

A good place to taste typical Swiss dishes, the service is magnificent and the food is the best. I recommend the Mönch Salad with tête de Moine AOP Chesse, Spätzli Käsesauce with Valais Raclette AOP Chesse and Cordon Bleu Swiss Made.

We had our Christmas dinner in this restaurant. Good fondue, good wine, good concept. It was packed, but there were hardly any problems with the service.

The food is average but the service is unfortunately very poor. Complain about other customers besides the guests. Boss tells the waiter to give the customer an elbow. You just don't do that!

This is the first restaurant we tried in Switzerland. We tried fondue here and at the end we talked with the manager and we were invited to the special drink of the restaurant. Totally recommended!

Food was way too expensive for the amount you get. And the servers were not motivated and didn’t pay attention to the customers. When you want swiss food go somewhere else.

We were there for the second time within one year with a group of 12. All was good till we wanted to pay. The waiter kept lecturing us that parties of 10 People and more can’t pay separate. There is no comment of that either in the online reservation nor confirmation nor was it mentioned when I cnfmd by phone. His going at it just made it worse and destroyed an otherwise nice evening with good food. On top of If it, it is so easy for him to do it. Simple Laziness which caused the place to loose 12 potential customers. Finally paid separate but he kept bickering about it

We booked so the wait was minimal. The room is large and a little noisy. The portions are generous.

I had quite the fondue experience at this place. The fondue was surprisingly unique with a grainy texture at the end, reminiscent of bechamel sauce, which is quite unusual for a fondue. The bread served with it wasn't as fresh as I would have liked. I cannot say that it was the best fondue I had. What really puts me off about this place, though, are the waiters. They must have attended the school of rudeness. Interestingly, most of them are of Asian descent, including Bengali's and Indians. I couldn't help but notice that they were especially rude and unfriendly to fellow Asian or brown customers.It was a real show, witnessing their extraordinary dedication to catering to the white hipster-looking customers, almost as if their entire country's history was flowing through their veins. And then, there's a cast of characters that appear to be of Eastern European origin. They seem to serve everyone with a consistent mediocrity that's almost impressive in its own right. In all seriousness, I'd hesitate to visit this place again solely because of the service. It's a shame because the food had potential, but the waitstaff's behavior just ruined the entire experience.

The Lötschberg is a centrally located restaurant specializing in Swiss cuisine with dishes such as Spätzli, Rösti, fondue and co. It was quite full on a Wednesday evening, and without a reservation it would probably have been difficult to find a place. The food tastes good, but is very hearty and a bit too salty. The dishes were served in record time. The decor is woody, rustic and a bit old, but clean.

First time in my life having Rösti with Raclette while visiting Bern. This place does it right. Paired with a fruity white Swiss wine and it was a divine meal that certainly prepared me for hibernation.

Very tasty cheese fondue, very good service, somewhat bland/simple (to put it very harshly, I don't know what else to call it) canteen atmosphere.

We tried the cheese fondue (half-n-half). Quite tasty. The place was quite crowded at 6:30 in the evening. Luckily, we managed to get a place without reservation. Reservation is recommended if planning to dine on a busy day.

Nice traditional Swiss food with great service

We tried here the typical Swiss Fondue 🫕, the truth is that it was very good, it took them a long time to bring us the coffees and the bill, but otherwise good.

Highly recommend! This place was one of our favourite restaurants out of the entire trip. We tried the mixed salad, Zurich veal, cordon bleu, and homemade spatzle - all were phenomenal! The portions are absolutely huge as well, which was well worth the money. Come here if you are visiting Bern!

At first, I was honestly worried that there would be severe racism, but there wasn't. My waiter was young and very friendly! The food can be a little salty, but it is delicious. The fondue is less salty if you eat it with potatoes. Also, they provide free refills, so just ask.

We were passing through Bern on our way to Grindelwald and this restaurant had good reviews. The atmosphere was very 'blah' and quiet during the day. I had a small meat and cheese plate; very good and the bread tasted so fresh. My husband had a roast beef sandwich; get a small/medium for the meal. The large size could feed two people easily. Being from the U.S. and not used to paying for water, we asked for still water and it cost more than our glass of wine and pint of beer combined.

I have been here many times and have always recommended Lötschberg in the past. Yesterday, however, I was disappointed. The two of us had the fondue menu, which was served with a salad and dried meat. The fondue was served before we finished the salad. The tables are so small that there is no space for salad plates and fondue plates. The fondue was, as always, very good, but the portion was smaller than before, but there was a huge amount of bread... A fondue is supposed to be a cozy experience and you should be able to take your time, but here we had the impression that we were there as quickly as possible If possible, they should disappear again so that the table is free for the next guests. A pity.

When tourists ask me for a recommendation for Swiss cuisine in the city of Bern, I give them the tip to stop at Lötschberg. The menu is manageable and offers a variety of salads, cheese slices and fondue. I think the burger is very good and the salad dressing is unbeatable. I often have spaetzli as a side dish, although the Bernese fries also taste delicious. You can also get fine sausage or Swiss cheese here. In winter there is a small gondola where you can eat fondue. During the Corona period, however, we were denied access without this questionable certificate. This was very annoying and laughable at the same time. It was a long time ago, but I will probably never forget this experience.

I would have given them 5 stars, but I'm just now realizing they totally overcharged my card. I had the half and half fondue, which was OK, a glass of wine and juice. I also left a 5 Swiss frank tip. Fondue was 27.50, glass of wine 8 Frank's, and the juice 7, I'm also rounding up. Add the $5 tip, and the total should have been near 50. Yet they charged me 80!? I should have said something, but I at the time thought I made a mistake on reading the prices, but when I got home and looked up the current menu prices, I was upset. Felt like a bait and switch situation. So let my mistake be a lesson to travelers. If you feel the price is wrong, check right then there because some of these waiters out here are trying to catch people slacking like they caught me.

Quantity instead of quality. The cordon bleu was dry, and the steak came out part raw. The staff replaced the steak for us when we pointed it out so 5 stars for service. The food was mediocre for the price (40+ CHF). The serving size was USA-huge.

I've known the restaurant for a long time and really liked it for a long time, but unfortunately it gets worse and worse every year. The food is still very good, but the service has decreased significantly and unfortunately it just feels like mass processing.

If I could give minus 100 stars - I would do. Fondue is so bad. But the worst was the stuff - guys are rude and cad. One Man didnt talk english Good - and when i ask him to bring me wine menu - he literally told smth bad in german that few tables were looking at us shocked- amd i just asked him to bring wine menu - because i didnt understand which wines he mentioned. Fondue is the worst in the world - for 60 chf with old bread. Unfortunately it was one place opened on Sunday. But better to stay hungry than come here again. Booked potatoes were only one Good item here.

Landed here by an accident browsing the old town. We're placed immediately, the service was fast and very good, the food came with a nice presentation. My the only advice to the future guests - ask the staff about REAL size of the portions! What you call an ordinary portion in CH here is called Small. So make a good planning of the stomach space if you still have some plans to move that day:-) My special thanks to Jose and Milo for amazing service!

I love the salad plates with the nut dressing (a medium portion is enough). Great wines that go well with the food! Cheese fondue for two with bread and potatoes is so delicious! Great service and fair prices! Be sure to reserve, otherwise you may not find space! Outside in the gondola it's very romantic for two people, but I think it's only there in winter!

We followed the waiter's suggestions, very friendly at all times. The house soft drinks, two foundues and a large salad for 4. All €172, which for being Switzerland and everything we ate did not seem expensive at all. Spectacular food. In the end he invited us to coffee.
