Restaurant Pfannenstiel in Meilen

21.03.2024 16:15 arrived to enjoy a lovely drink outside enjoying the sunshine, a couple of the staff members advised no food because the entire inside restaurant was booked out, but were getting nervous because no one had turned up, but they were fine for us to join others drinking outside then the head chef comes out shouting “NO WE’RE CLOSED, GO AWAY!” despite other customers present. Honestly a rude man that needs to go for some customer skills training.

The distance between the tables is 10 cm. You can't really enjoy the food and speak.

Nice view with very good food. Despite many guests, the livers were served quickly and well and were perfect.

We were pretty exhausted after biking and, despite many guests (and dirty shoes), we were served very friendly and warmly. The fondue on the terrace with incredibly good bread was a real highlight of our tour.

Top Italian cuisine... I was once there as a craftsman for a service and saw all the delicious things the waiter passed in front of me to serve. Perfect as a stop on the motorcycle. The restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere and the service is very accommodating. The dishes are prepared with a lot of love and are very tasty. Gladly again. ❤️

Homemade pork cordon bleu, french fries was very good. Zurich veal slices were ok, Rösti wasn't that good, and the portion was small.

Very nice place. Luckily the new owner did not change everything as it is known best for Schnitzel. The added italian dishes sound promising and the hare (from local hunters) ragout was excellent 💕

A beautiful, well-kept atmosphere with friendly, courteous service. We ordered the autumn plate like in previous years. Unfortunately we were disappointed. The food was carelessly prepared and the spaetzli had the smell of burnt food. Even the red cabbage, although plentiful, couldn't convince us. I had to switch to salad and soup. Apparently there was a change in the kitchen. A pity!

Great location to explore Pfannenstiehl

The food is excellent here. The portions are great, come with hunger! What I really loved is how the restaurant treats dogs. Each dog gets a bowl and some cookies. We called ahead and had a reservation.

I've been going to this restaurant for almost 20 years but today the service was far from professional and friendly. It's a real shame, we won't be back any time soon...

Typical excursion restaurant with self-service on the terrace. Service at the checkout was ok. The prices for the drinks are very moderate. On the other hand, the sandwich with raw ham for CHF 11.00 was beyond that. A small side roll was filled with raw ham, which had more fat than meat. The mini sandwich was also delivered on a cardboard box. On the next trip to the Pfannenstiel we will have a picnic along the way and bring the sandwich with us. A pity!

Spontaneously stopped by with a hole in my stomach. Great service, we sat outside and were given blankets to keep warm. The food was very tasty and when we left the hole in our stomach was no longer there. We will be back definitely.

The restaurant is in a quiet location on Pfannenstil. The terrace is very large and offers a view of the greenery. With a good selection of dishes, you can stay comfortably for a few hours. I am a regular guest at this restaurant and am glad that it continues in a similar style after the change of tenant.

Only Pepsi instead of Coca Cola and the menu of homemade meatloaf only with mixed vegetables without carbohydrates, this is irritating. Once that is corrected, there will be more points. A pity. Otherwise the food would be good. Potential, because it's a bit bland, is still there with the tomato spaghetti.

Are very dissatisfied, not even Schnipo can do the kitchen, the staff are very friendly except the chef de service is very snooty, it's a shame but the other service staff were very nice and they got a dessert as compensation. But it shouldn't be like that if the kitchen isn't that good and the service staff That's what it's all about and not the kitchen. I hope it gets better, that's what I wish for you

Lunchtime, 12:30 p.m., the restaurant is very busy. I'm glad I made a reservation. Despite the large number of guests, we are welcomed and seated in a friendly and stress-free manner, and we quickly hold the menu, including the lunch menu, in our hands. The service is very attentive, as there are enough staff present, everyone is relaxed and we are served quickly. The menu is clear, varied, family-friendly, and the prices are fair. Very good home-style food, in a nice place for hiking. The landlord makes a lot of effort and the hospitality is good. Starter salad, main course, large dessert, with coffee and mineral water was 35 CHF for the occasion, absolutely justified.

Beautiful setting, lovely views. True rural nature feel. Awesome to sit outside in warmer sunny weather. Perfect place to have a little break from the superb hiking area. We only had a drink and ice creams which were truly delicious, I cannot comment on the main menu.

As has been the case for many years, the staff is fantastic, although a lot more stressed than a few months ago. They deserve at least 10 out of 5 stars because they save a lot of things that are ruining the kitchen. The food has deteriorated dramatically since the change of tenant. Even for Zurich standards, the price is very high and the quality is simply not worth the price. The pasta portions are huge but the Zurich Geschnetzelte, for example, is just puny for 39.90. In addition, the sauce was extremely fatty and the fat even separated. Presumably the heart of the new one lies more in Italian cuisine and there is a lack of courage to completely delete the old dishes. If so, I hope he finds the courage soon before he scares off all the old regulars. Better a completely new kitchen than poor quality of the old standard dishes. It was one of our favorite restaurants in the area, but now it will probably disappear from our list. It's a real shame.

Food was miserable. Bread not baked through. Beef steak tartar like mud and rötsi carelessly slapped onto a plate with risible tomato slices under the cheese.

Had a great experience here. Dinner on December 31st at 6:00 p.m. The menu was completely to our liking. We chose the Wiener Schnitzel, but with fries, and the Egli Chnusperli. The service was exceptionally friendly and the general mood of the staff seemed upbeat. The kitchen did a fantastic job. We'll definitely be back. We found the price/performance ratio to be good. Unfortunately we didn't take any photos of the food. Would have been worth it.

Negative: The lighting above the table is selective, very bright and in the long run extremely tiring for the eyes, almost unbearable, at some point you just want to get out. Indirect light would be better, on the ceiling or on the walls. ⭐⭐⭐Food: Venison slices for CHF 38.50. Sorry, the taste wasn't great, the side dishes were a bit lean and the spaetzli were rather fluffy instead of crispy. I've had completely different game dishes. And my daughter wasn't so happy with the Angus beef burger, saying it was "dry". (But the “organic” direction is right!) ❌I eat at a restaurant for two different reasons: a) I'm too lazy to cook or travel and don't expect anything elaborate, then it should be cheap in terms of price - but OK in terms of taste. Or: b) The kitchen comes with a certain standard, it is above-average refined and careful, it is inspired, possibly exotic, it has a USP - I eat very well and am then prepared to pay a premium for it. That evening neither a) nor b) was fulfilled. For Fr. 107 for two people I would have expected more in terms of cuisine. ❗❗IMPORTANT: This review was made after just one visit to the restaurant! Maybe the chef was having a bad day. I will try it again.

The place was full, that speaks for itself. The food is always good. I found it a bit of a shame that there was only soup to choose from with the menu, no salad, especially because one of the two daily menus didn't have any vegetables. The noise level is a bit high when the restaurant is full, but it is of course nice to be able to sit outside.
