Super tasty food, friendly service, there were three of us (one child), will go there again

We ate at the Sahara restaurant on Sunday and it was very good. Fine little restaurant that reflects Moroccan culture. From the starter, the Sahara plate, to the main course, the tagine with beef balls, it was excellent. The owner who served and prepared all the dishes was super nice. We can highly recommend the Sahara restaurant and I think it wasn't the last time we ate there👍👍👍

Service and ambience excellent. Unfortunately, the portions (starters & dessert for 2 people) were very small in relation to the expensive prices and I would have expected more authentic Moroccan specialties instead of beetroot & carrot salad. Some dishes were also served cold instead of warm. It's a shame that people don't adapt to the recessions and take care of them. greets from Zurich

Great Coucous! We had pre-ordered a Couscous Royal with lamb, beef, chicken and merguez and were not disappointed. The meat was clearly premium quality and the quantities were more than sufficient. First of all, the mixed appetizer platter “Sahara” is definitely recommended. The restaurant does not serve alcohol, but you can bring your own wine if you wish. Conclusion: top quality, top service and great price-performance ratio.

Wrong food brought twice. 1 meal was forgotten. There were too many items accounted for on the receipt. The portions (main courses) are very small and therefore too expensive. Unfortunately, the service woman only... defended himself and had zero insight. A pity.

The food was delicious, but the portions could have been 50% larger. In addition, it took quite a long time until we received our drinks after ordering (approx. 20-25 minutes) and then the drink order was mixed up. We'll still come back because the food is too good and the owner is super friendly. She was alone the day we were there, so maybe the experience is a little different if there are 2-3 of them.

Small restaurant with tasty dishes. The hostess is extremely friendly and attentive. The toilet is a bit run down, although the restaurant is new and the prices are a bit high for the portion size. If the latter is adjusted, you get a few more points!

This is a bit of a hidden restaurant in Basel, outside the city center area...but 100% worth a visit! True and authentic Moroccan food, delicious tagine with sheep and prunes, delicious :) If you want to try something different than the usual restaurant...this should enter your wish list.

I went there for dinner with some friends. The atmosphere was right and I felt very comfortable. The owner is a very likeable, friendly woman. The food tasted excellent. You could tell that everything was freshly prepared. In addition, there were various spices that gave the meals a special taste. We all chose different main courses and desserts in order to try a wider variety of dishes. It was difficult to judge which one was best 😊 Thank you for everything. We'll definitely be back soon ♥

The best Moroccan restaurant we have ever been to. The chicken tagine in particular is a dream! Also very, very hospitable and warm conversations with the staff! We come from Germany, but we would always come here again when we are in Basel!

One of the best meals I've ever eaten. First time eating Moroccan, and definitely never the last. And Aziza, the manager, is a very, very nice person and really friendly and you feel at home in the restaurant. Decoration is simple but pretty and cozy.

The only thing I can say is to definitely not go eat couscous there because it has nothing to do with the sauce. Meats and vegetables have a completely different taste and are edible. We left everything and left.

We found this place by chance as it was Xmas day, a lot of the restaurants in Basel are closed. And after having our dinner at Restaurant Sahara, we didnt left with any regrets. Food were phenomenally authentic and the lady owner is cheerful and proactive. I can recommend to anyone who would like to have some variety in their lunch/dinner outings.

Shukran djazilan! Aziza is an incredibly good host. The dishes are absolutely authentic, and the restaurant is also lovingly decorated in a traditional Moroccan style. Here you travel directly to Morocco with all your senses. The wonderful pastella is highly recommended! Lovely again!

Seriously one of the best restaurants in Basel. A real hidden gem! The woman who runs it is an incredible cook and wonderful hostess. The pastilla is absolutely delicious, but you must order it ahead of time. The restaurant is small so make sure to make a reservation.

Authentic Moroccan food. The chicken thighs with salted lemon are a poem. The staff is extremely warm and accommodating. I can only recommend the restaurant.

When I was here the service was so slow, we had to wait a long time for everything. After all the waiting the vegetarian dish I asked came with fish inside. Only good thing for me is that the staff was really friendly.

I regret inviting friends to this restaurant. The quality and quantity have no connection with the excessive prices that are practiced. Not even a glass of wine was offered with our tagine. How sad this restaurant.

Everything went wrong that evening. Very long wait. 1 hour until the drinks came, 1 hour until the appetizer came, and 1 hour until the bill came. We couldn't order a main course because it all took too long. Unfortunately..

The food is amazingly indescribable. I suddenly felt I was back home, and eating my mom's delicious food (the level is pretty high). The service is so great, and all smile at all times. Highly recommended. (from a Moroccan)

I cannot explain this. Such amazing food. It was remarkable. Delicious. An absolute must. The starter plate I found a bit little. Incredibly delicious non the less. You have to try the couscous. It blew me away. And don’t get me started on this Arabic coffee. Never! have I had such delicious coffee. And the service here super friendly and kind. What a beautiful experience.

We were there as a group of 15 people and really enjoyed the evening. Good and varied buffet, with the dishes being freshly prepared by the hostess. Gladly again!

The food was very good. The poor lady was alone serving, cooking and doing everything. So we have waited over an hour for the food, the amount of food was very little and we payed a lot of money,even for swiss standards. Again, the waitresses /cook was very kind and the food tasted good!
