Restaurant Schiff in Luzern

We were there to enjoy a drink on the terrace under cover. The atmosphere is very warm with comfortable sofas, candles and the fireplace. Our server Franco was super friendly and professional. The team is French-speaking. A nice place in Lucerne, I recommend 🙌

My colleague and I asked for a table for two, then one of them said that she didn't have time and there were still customers who didn't have any food, etc. Very unfriendly service and then didn't even ask if we wanted anything.

We loved this little spot for a warm meal on a cold rainy day! The other fondue spots weren't serving and we were directed here. It felt like we were eating in a lovely cozy cave! The fondue was very generous and delicious! The green salad was fantastic (I would love the dressing recipe ) and it was eaten in record time! The kiddos got chicken nuggets but didn't actually eat them, they ended up having fondue with us instead. We all left with full warm tummies!

While the restaurant may not have been exceptional, the standout feature was definitely the customer service. The staff were attentive, friendly, and made sure our dining experience was enjoyable. Despite any shortcomings in the food or ambiance, their excellent service left a positive impression and made the overall experience quite pleasant!

We had dinner at this beautiful river side restaurant. The food was great, especially the fondue.

October 2023 We had glass of red wine each they use a measure and pour exactly 100mls. Unless you have a different server and she fills the measure to the top which makes for a bigger pour. All wait staff should use the same standard. It’s not nice to be at a table and see another couple receive a larger glass of wine. Lucerne so far is very stingy with the wine pours! Wonder if it’s a general rule in Switzerland. Not happy Jan. Fondue and pork meatball was fine

It was my first time eating fondue in Switzerland, but it was more delicious than I expected! I felt it was salty, but I ate it all the way to the bottom. If you want to eat homemade sausage, be sure to order rösti on the side! (It tastes like potato pancakes on the outside)

While the Swiss fondue and views were both great at this place, the service and staff were disappointing. Overall good value for money. Staff could be trained to be more friendly.

We started the year 2024 with a lunch in this restaurant. Mr PAWLAK gave us a very warm welcome by settling us on the banks of the Reuss. The dishes are well presented and the cuisine is meticulous. The atmosphere is nice, but there are too few tables inside. It is recommended to sit at the outdoor tables in fall or summer. I ate outside while blowing my breath… but the servers were friendly. Nevertheless, I experienced the murderous prices in Switzerland... 109 euros for eating like that...

Solid restaurant in the medium to upper price range. Beautifully located on the Reuss and the old town

Very busy and short staffed but the waitress (knew little English) worked hard to make sure everyone was taken care of (even tho google reservations didn’t go over to their system they accommodated us)! Garlic bread was amazing and the fried fish and apple fritter was good.

Flavourful dishes. Ordered beef cheek and Fish. Flanked by river Reuss and a peek at the Chapel bridge not too far off. Every seat comes with a wool blanket. Good food great view.

Cozy restaurant with a great view - good food - great service - a successful evening

The location is great, and one of the waitresses was lovely (the one who spoke some Spanish). However, the rest was very disappointing. We were not that hungry, so we wanted to order 3 dishes (expensive ones, not just starters) for 4 people and we all also ordered drinks. The waitress then said that we had to order minimum 4 dishes as we were four people. In the end, that meant that we had so many leftovers which I think is a shame in times were we should try to minimize food waste. I think it is very rude to oblige people to order 1 full plate per person, as not everyone eats the same amount of food which then just leads to unnecessary food waste. Moreover, the fondue that we ordered had a very weird texture (and I'm Swiss so I know how it is supposed to be) and the waitress did not even bother to light the heater. When I asked her to do it, she got very annoyed, pretended to turn it on but still it was out, so we had to tell her again. The two stars are for the one nice waitress and the location, but such a pity that they think they can rip off people just because of their location.

Great place to eat while enjoying the riverside view. We tried the homemade sausage and it was delicious! Never tried fondue before so we cannot make any comparison, but it taste fine. Other than that, we ordered soup and dessert of the day, both very enjoyable as well. Staffs were very friendly and welcoming. Thank you very much for the great experience.

We spent a FABOLOUS evening at this bup/taverne. The food is, simply put it, OUTSTANDING and the same is for the wine and spirits they offer here. The staff is SUPER nice, friendly, attentive and very welcoming. Do not miss the Fondue Cheese here... it will stay in your heart forever. Come to this place when in Luzern, you will not regret it!!

Great location great view but the staff is not always hospitable. I'm talking about a male person. For the second time we weren't allowed to sit because he said there was no space even though a few tables were free and the staff brought some from outside. He said exactly the same thing last time. We asked the woman and she gave us a table. The one time I wanted to eat fondue with a colleague, after this statement we decided on another restaurant. It's a shame because, as I said, the location is great, the view is great and the food is also very tasty

Quality food from hearty healthy to fine dining. The service provers were run off their feet but keep being polite and efficient. (They needed another helper. )

We arrived in the afternoon, around 2:30 p.m. and wanted to sit at a place by the water. When the waiter came, we were asked if we would like to eat something. When we said no, we were asked to sit at a table in the 3rd row. Less than 5 minutes later, a slightly older, rather classy couple arrived and were allowed to sit at the table by the water. As long as we were there and drank our beer, the couple didn't eat anything. We felt pretty unfairly treated. We were also paying guests, just like the elegantly dressed couple who only had drinks. In the end we had to wait about 10 minutes for the bill, only after we asked for it the second time did the bill finally come. Of course we addressed the situation, insight into possible misconduct sounds different...

The food was great. Even better was the lovely Gordana who served us. She took great care of our table and was super attentive. She motivated us to come back soon. A big thank you. Our evening was wonderful thanks to her. ❤️

You can eat outdoors with a beautiful view :) I had a portion of fondue, homemade sausage with Rösti, and lettuce salad (French dressing). It tasted good and I was happy because the view was nice~

Nice place on the Reuss, which also has some impact on the price calculation. But the food is very good with many local specialties. Staff very nice. Definitely not just for tourists.

Thanks for the reviewers before, went to this recommended resto.Not my favourite,but Must try fondue, the special dish of switzerland. Ordered half roasted chicken, quite tasty. Enjoy the lake view right beside of the resto. The waiter, Marina Strugar is very attentive and kind. Appreciate much

First time was a very good waiter. Fondue was good, poke with salmon okay too. At the end he asked for a tip. Second time went for a beer but female waiter was unpleasant and asked me to move to another table because mine was "yo eat only". I moved but the she nevera appeared or came back, so I left.

For the fondue has to be good and to share but for a steak too expensive for what you get . It was good but for those prices is no a fine dinning like Montana in art deco !… I paid more in this restaurante and the service was no the same at all or the taste of the meat and everything

Amazing service. Actually, quite incredible considering how big the restaurant is. We had around 3 waiters attending us and all of them were very friendly and helpful. Meals came quickly even during the restaurant 's rush hour.

Nice location for a restaurant unfortunately our experience was poor. Once seated we had to flag a waitress down for service after approximately 15 minutes of waiting. We ordered fondue as a starter and two entrees to follow. After finishing our fondue we waited 45 minutes and finally gave up waiting for our entrees. I flagged the same waitress (possibly a shift leader) down for the bill and she put the entrees on the bill. We didn’t pay for the entrees and instead paid only for the fondue. What’s most disappointing is that when asking for the bill the waitress didn’t recognize that she hadn’t served our entrees. This entire experience was 1.5 hours. Operationally this should not happen and if it DOES happen I kindly would have expected the restaurant to offer the fondue as complimentary give their error. Disappointing ending to an otherwise great day in Lucerne.

Germanish Swiss food. Comforting and hearty. Stop by the host to get a table outside. Someone tried to cut us and asked a waiter and the host didn’t give them our table but told them to wait for next table. I respect the order. We ordered the pork belly and also homemade meatball. I like the meatball better than the pork belly. Both dishes were solid though. The vegetable sides are usually root vegetables- carrots, turnips, etc. The mashed potato and gravy with the meatballs were delicious, salted just right. The spicy ginger drink was really good too. I was worried at first that it’d burn with too much spice but it was very well balanced. They’re a little overwhelmed despite a decent amount of staffing. Everyone was very nice though.

I cant say much about the food coz we only had a little charcuterie for a little bite and drinks,but it is à nice spot for the reason to rest while visiting the area.We were nicely seated just near the water watching the swans and birds.They have an indoor dining area if you prefer so.Service is good and they also have english menus.

Poor service. Hard to get attention if u want to order again. Have to try extra hard to attract attention. They don’t seem to have servers assigned to the tables which makes good service difficult. Additional long wait for the check to arrive. Food quality fair-good.

The food quality is good - very good. The price is right as well. We quickly stopped here after the Saturday market to have a quick lunch. We ate delicious and the service was friendly. I think we will come again :-)

There are a lot of pigeons, sparrows and ducks on the seats near the river. The meal itself is okay, I recommend the roasted half chicken. The fries are super salty, I don’t know why so much salt is sprinkled on them. The Swiss beer is pretty good and refreshing.

Let's start with the positive: the restaurant is perfectly located. The prices are steep (ok, we're in Switzerland, but still!), and the dishes a little too much. Too bad because the sausage meat ball and vegetables were pretty decent. We come to the big black point: SERVICE! Upon arrival, we felt that we weren't getting on well with the waiter, who really took exception to the entire service for a reason that escapes me completely. His colleague Maria told us that he didn't like children (the 2nd star of the rating is for her because she was friendly with our 3 year old daughter). In any case, he took a long time to take our order, to bring back the bill (to the point that I had to ask his colleague again, who reminded him to do his job...), he told me threw away the credit card ticket with disdain... We could have left the restaurant with the simple memory of having eaten a fondue on August 6th. In the end, this deplorable service will have ruined everything and we will only remember this event, it's a real shame.

Lovely evening meal. I requested a table by the water which was granted. Our waitress Cornelia was friendly and nice. Food was delicious. We had the meatballs, spring rolls, fondue and pork cutlet. Everything was a 10/10, maybe the pork cutlet was a little less at 8/10? Beautiful views to Chapel Bridge and Mt. Pilatus.

The Schiff restaurant in Lucerne delighted us with a good selection of Swiss dishes for lunch. The riverside seating provided a picturesque setting and the food was as tasty as it was authentic. The service was friendly and everything seemed inviting.

The central location is just beautiful. The food was good, I highly recommend to try their fondue which is yummy, yummy. The service was super slow, it’s obvious they are understaffed, however our waiter was super nice and always apologized for the delay!

Decent food, high prices but that can be understood given the location. It was the service that was really disappointing. Rude and contemptuous waiter. This greatly degrades the experience which could have been very pleasant. I therefore do not recommend this place given the restaurant offer all around with much nicer service.

The service was pushy and sloppy, the table was taken apart halfway through, plates were taken away immediately the second we finished eating. The bread with the fondue was dried out and hard, it looked like croutons. We didn't go for dessert after all this. The wine was fine

Very nice lake-side restaurant in the front of Chappel Bridge. Staffs were professional and kind. Especially Maria perruccio, who served my family, she was friendly and humorous. In addition to that, Cheese fondue, Lachs bowl, and pork dishes were delicious.

I also recommend fondue as it suits Korean tastes~~ I enjoyed a delicious lunch while watching the wonderful scenery by the beautiful river in Lucerne!! Especially, the service of Armando, an Italian male employee, was the best! If the weather is nice, this is a wonderful restaurant where you can enjoy cheese fondue on the riverside terrace! Cheese fondue was delicious. We had unlimited potatoes and bread (we didn't have enough potatoes, so we asked if we'd like more, and they added more for free). By the way, I had cheese fondue and Aperol spritz for lunch, and it cost 45 francs per person. I think it's a good choice for this location and this content! I want to go again

Poor service, we waited over half an hour for our meal. The fondue warmers didn't work, we had to ask three times to turn them on again. Some people left because they didn't wait for the waiter to place their order.

This restaurant is located on the banks of the Reuss River near Chapel Bridge. The overall quality of the food was good. I especially enjoyed the homemade sausage. However, the steak had a slightly burnt taste. I would like to recommend it if you are looking for a restaurant nearby.

The ambience under the arcades is too dark and affects your well-being. Reading the menu is sometimes tiring. There were six of us. The food is good. I would order something different next time (I had the cutlet), except for the dessert, the apple fritters were delicious.

This store discriminates against Chinese people. The Koreans at the next table and the empty table were given cutlery and paper towels, but they were not given to us.
