Located conveniently near the Winterthur train station (with parking available at Parkhaus Winterthur), Thai Bistro offers a genuine taste of Thai cuisine. The portion sizes were quite generous, typical of a Thai restaurant, and the prices were surprisingly affordable, especially when considering Zürich standards. However, the dining experience left some room for improvement. I noticed the hygiene could be better. But the most significant drawback was the lack of air conditioning during the summer months. The interior became uncomfortably warm, to the extent that it detracted from our overall enjoyment of the meal. While the flavors were decent, the ambiance needed a bit of a boost for a more pleasant dining experience.

The flavors were authentic and delicious, capturing the essence of Thai cuisine. From the aromatic curries to the flavorful stir-fries, each dish was a delightful journey for the taste buds. The service, while not outstanding, was acceptable. The staff seemed friendly enough, and our orders were taken promptly. While there were no major issues, there was room for improvement in terms of attentiveness and checking on guests throughout the meal. Unfortunately, the atmosphere was a disappointment. The lack of air conditioning on a warm day made for an uncomfortable dining experience. The discomfort caused by the heat was definitely a damper on what could have been a more enjoyable meal.

April 2023, kitchen and tables are in one ambience, I could watch closely as the one kitchen employee with a runny nose constantly had her hands on her nose and sneezed loudly. The gloves were neither changed nor disinfected. Me and my companion actually wanted to go but unfortunately the food had already been ordered. We were asked by 3 different people what we would like to order. Then we had to wait a very long time for the food even though we were the only ones there. Not again. And for this price I expect more.

From a not exactly cheap CHF16.50 we went straight to a hefty CHF19.50 for a take-away menu from the buffet (vegi). I praise the competition within walking distance (e.g. Maharaja Curry = CHF 12.50 take-away menu from the buffet with meat/fish or Tandoor Shop = CHF 9.50 to 16.- for a take-away menu from the buffet with meat/fish). It's a shame, but that was it for me...

The price-performance ratio is good👍 The menu offers many different dishes. Unfortunately, it can sometimes take longer here if there is a lot going on. We were 4 adults, everyone had a main course, no starters, it took about 35 minutes until the food was served to us.

Als Halb Thailänderin muss ich sagen, das hat nichts mit authentischer Thaiküche zu tun. Ich habe schon diverse Gerichte probiert da, aber das Laab Moo, war das schlechteste Laab dass ich bisher hatte und keineswegs Original Zutaten. Guay Tiew war sehr süss und überhaupt nicht schmackhaft. Tom Yum lässt ebenfall zu wünschen übrig. Yum Nuea war ok. Wenigstens war die Bedienung sehr freundlich.

Extrem leckeres Essen, gute Portionen, leider werden Getränke nicht serviert sondern man muss sie selbst aus einem Kühlschrank holen, Service könnte etwas professioneller sein, aber war freundlich genug. Essen extrem empfehlenswert, Ente, Süsssauer, Cashew Fried Rice usw. hatten wir, alles lecker!

Es würden den Ihnabern gut tun sich mal wieder an die Zeit in Thailand zurück zu erinnern, wie die Arbeitseistellung der Thais in Thailand ist. Das ging leider in der Schweiz verloren. SCHADE!
