We arrived here for Dinner after our hotel advised us that they didn't have a booking. The staff were very friendly and food was very good. On the off chance we asked them if they had any room , and they said they had a room for 1 person, but would make it into 2 for us ! What fantastic service. We recommend this place and if we are in the area again, we would certainly pay them a visit.

Not very good service. For example, you can't order one big steak for two people unless you are very hungry. Why not? It's not clear.

Fine coupes that are beautifully presented. Practical “rest stop” on the way to Grimsel.

Cozy and beautifully decorated restaurant. Friendly service. Specialties: Cordon bleu and hot stone with all kinds of meat. Also vegetarian dishes. The dog was welcome. We really enjoyed it and we will definitely come back.

Are you near Innertkirchen? Or if you are taking a mountain pass tour that includes the Grimsel Pass, you should definitely stop here.

Unfortunately I was not satisfied with the service: First we were left sitting for a while, then our last shadow table was cleared away in two stages and only then were we asked what we would like to consume. That was over 10 minutes, even though there wasn't really much going on. Unfortunately there was nothing to eat in the afternoon because the kitchen was closed. A pity. Other visitors who also wanted something to eat left the terrace again. Another couple who arrived before us forgot their food order. They then got it, but had to wait an hour. Plus point: the homemade iced tea was very tasty Maybe it wasn't a good day for the staff. But I definitely won't be going there again.

The Urweid restaurant is on the road to the Grimsel Pass, a stop is definitely recommended. The inn has been lovingly and tastefully renovated. The food is a delight, the service staff is extremely friendly. The innkeepers are very warm, you feel welcome. If the locals also come to eat and rave about it, then it's fine. They also like to sit down for a chat and a glass 😉 The rooms are very clean. What is also striking is the friendly, trusting and loving interaction between the bosses and the employees. Absolutely recommended! Keep it up!

Very tasty salad buffet and steaks grilled to perfection

The Hotel/Restaurant Urweid was recently reopened after renovations. We were on our way to the Grimsel area and stopped for lunch. The hosts Tina and Hans-Peter Imboden and their team immediately made us feel welcome here. The fine food and the very tastefully decorated restaurant finally persuaded us to spontaneously stay for one night. So after a leisurely afternoon hike at the top of the Grimsel Pass, we also enjoyed a juicy steak, which was grilled right in front of our eyes in the fireplace. What was striking again in the evening was how the host couple looked after their guests... sometimes a short chat here, sometimes there, always there to fulfill wishes. In contrast to the restaurant, the rooms have not yet been renovated, but this will be done over the coming winter. Either way, our room was very clean and lovingly decorated. Due to the location of the house directly on the Grimsel pass road, you can expect some motorbike traffic early in the morning on nice days, which of course doesn't happen completely silently. We were given a room on the side facing away from the street, so we weren't affected by this problem. The breakfast buffet with oven-fresh bread and plaited bread rounded off our spontaneous visit perfectly. We would be happy to come back when the opportunity arises and are already looking forward to fine grilled food, homemade sweet temptations and warm hosts.
