The top in the square in Ascona. Directly on the lake, I have been to this place several times and it has always exceeded my expectations. Excellent service. The guys are very friendly and the cuisine amazes with traditional seafood recipes and some innovative touches. On my last visit I tasted the salted sea bass which is portioned at the table, excellent and fresh. I will definitely return on my next visit to Ascona

Outstanding service with delicous food.

We wanted to celebrate our wedding anniversary and booked this restaurant for lunch. My husband ordered cod as a starter and whitefish as a main course, I ordered scallops as a starter and monkfish as a main course. Overall, we were disappointed with the food. We expected refinement, flavor and that something extra. The dishes were bland, lacking in flavor (the main course was decorated with a handful of rocket, for example) and very simply prepared. Furthermore, the service staff did not take to heart the management expected in the restaurant industry when serving guests. We cannot recommend this restaurant and will not return.

Excellent experience at Riva Restaurant! The place is really nice, especially in summer with the terrace overlooking the lake. They have many fish dishes (being a fish tavern), but also other options for all tastes. The place is well looked after and the staff is friendly and professional. The wine list is extensive and offers great choices. If possible, I recommend trying the starters in "sharing" mode, so you can try many different things. Then whether you choose a first course or a second course, the food is really good and prepared. Well done!

I opted for the tasting menu and each course was a pleasant discovery. The service was impeccable... with the staff who proved to be kind, attentive and always available to our requests. I highly recommend it to all lovers of good food! 😊

Excellent food and very polite personnel! The view on the lake and the music selection were certainly a plus.

On August 1st we visited with 9 people. 6 adults, 3 children. We had reserved, unfortunately we could only sit inside. It was rather uncomfortable there. The service was top. Very friendly and quick. But the food: for the high prices it was just enough. Ascona moderately expensive. The Cozze was delicious, but the clams, only 5 (!) pieces, were okay. Fish was good. Steaks with a handful of potatoes for over Fr. 60.-. Not enough spaghetti for the children. Unfortunately, meatballs with fries were worse than in Ikea. It was also far too cold in the restaurant. The air conditioning was running at full blast. Although it would have been pleasant outside. We then said goodbye before dessert. It's a shame, we probably shouldn't have eaten on the promenade.

Nice place near the lake. Nice view. The chevice was very good. The incredibly tasty and crunchy fried prawns! Very good octopus!! I have rarely eaten such soft octopus! And the fish were good too! The only suggestion for improvement I have is the fried courgette flower pasta. I prefer a lighter dough made with just flour and beer.

I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of Ristorante Riva. Very good location in Ascona and excellent italian food. All items on the menu scream « Chose me and I will bring paradise in your palate ». Very attentive and friendly staff.

Great restaurant on the waterfront with a wonderful view. The service is very pleasant. I ordered grilled shrimp - very tasty. Friends took Dorado fish and were also pleased.

Nice location on the Ascona promenade, pleasant lunch on a warm spring day sitting outdoors in a pleasant shaded area. We had a very good lunch, the spaghetti with clams and bottarga was excellent, appreciating the quality of the ingredients and the preparation, the desserts were good. Very attentive and prompt service despite the considerable turnout. We also saw some very inviting looking baked fish pass by on their way to other tables, we will take this into account next time. Prices in line with those of the country, but also with those of many Italian tourist resorts.

The food was excellent. I eat light for dinner so had the pulpo salad and asked how large it was… they said a fair portion, so I added grilled vegetables. The pulpo salad was incredibly fresh and delicious, and large. Did not need anything else. Lovely place, great service, nice wine and really nice coffee. Highly recommend. Sorry I didn’t take any photos. Enjoying the dinner so much!

The ambience, service and arrangement were perfect 👍🏽 The food was beautifully prepared and every course was a joy 🥰 Unfortunately, Ristorante Riva is NOT suitable for histamine-intolerant people 😥 Unfortunately, we don't know whether the food was cooked with rapeseed oil or flavor enhancers, or whether the ingredients were half or entirely convenience food. Three Daosin, and the foregoing of further wine and a course, were necessary to have a reasonably good night. 😬 Theoretically, I only give restaurants that don't think about histamine-intolerant people one or two stars - but Riva had really nice plates and the staff was very committed and friendly 😊 However, I advise people with histamine intolerance not to visit Riva. ✌🏾

Great (fish) restaurant with some tables right by the water. The great atmosphere is only surpassed by the cuisine and the attentive service. We had, among other things, sole and turbot, both of which were excellent. But of course, quality has its price. But it's justified here!

Hard-working employees, kitchen is solid, facilities are very nice. But two negative points: as a fish restaurant there is no connection to Lake Maggiore. the location could also be in Zurich. The prices definitely are.

We were lucky and got a table without a reservation. We were previously informed that this could lead to longer waiting times. But that wasn't the case at all - we were served quickly and very courteously (special praise to Sara) and had a great dinner!

A really great restaurant. We concentrated on the fish, as a starter and as a main course it was simply great. Great staff! Sure, it's not cheap, but you know that if you want to go there. The location also needs to be paid for! Any time!

I went to this restaurant on Saturday night with a couple of friends. We immediately felt pampered thanks to the welcome from a very friendly and nice girl who looked after us for the rest of the evening. The fish is really good (I highly recommend the durum wheat linguine with lobster), which was further enhanced by the excellent wine pairing that was recommended to us. In addition to the excellent food, the location directly on the lake is truly breathtaking: perfect even on these hot days thanks to the breeze that comes from the lake. In conclusion, I highly recommend this restaurant to all fish lovers and I take this opportunity to compliment the staff for the excellent service offered!

This is a great place for dinner by the lake at sunset in Ascona. If you are a fish lover. They have delicious options in the menu and the staff is very polite and friendly. We went for the 'Menu degustazzione' and it was an excellent idea. I highly recommend this place if you want to spoil yourself on vacation

What to say? We had a great time! First of all I would like to thank all the staff for their excellent service, young guys always attentive to the customer and with a smile, capable of solving every need you have, as in our case, my wife is vegetarian and they recommended the dishes suitable for the little ones have a kid's menu!! I ate a mixed fried seafood dish as a starter and a salmon trout as a main course. Compliments to the cooking, everything was impeccable and truly excellent quality food, accompanied by a very good wine (always recommended). Being a fish restaurant you can also find beef tartare and rebuy on the menu. If you want to eat very well and feel pampered, I highly recommend this location, I thank all the staff and see you soon!

We have now become regular customers. This little place is really very cute. The food is decidedly delicious, very fresh fish, delicious pasta dishes. Top location, excellent food and great service. You don't notice that the restaurant has newly opened. It feels like it has always been here. My absolute favorites: Lobster Roll and Zuppa di Pesce. The cuisine and service leave nothing to be desired. Here I would particularly like to highlight Lorenzo, who really puts his heart and soul into what he does and always has the perfect recommendation, be it a delicious cocktail or a suitable dish, paired with the right wine. We had dinner with our 2 children in the Seven Group's new Ristorante Riva and were warmly welcomed by the restaurant manager Emanuele. The restaurant has just been completely renovated and is very tastefully and maritime decorated. The food was excellent and very authentically Italian. As a starter we had Fritto Misto, very crispy and tasty, and a crudité platter, served fresh on ice. For the main course my wife had Spaghetti Vongolo mi Bottarga, excellent and al dente. I had the sole, very tasty. The kids had salmon and vegetables from the children's menu. Even for non-fish lovers there are alternatives, several meat dishes and vegetarian dishes. Also a big compliment to Sara, she served us well. We will be back definitely!
