Riverside Inn Guesthouse & Restaurant in Winterthur

Room was spacious with a lovely view of the river & a table & chairs to watch the world go past. Bed & pillows were very comfortable. Underfloor heating in bathroom, large fluffy towels, nice toiletries. Bright airy breakfast room. Buffet style breakfast, though as a vegetarian, the only cooked choice was scrambled egg & tomatoes. I opted for the continental breakfast & and it would have been nice to have warm bread rolls & croissants (I'm not sure if the toaster would warm or burn them). Close to station & Cathedral. Enjoyed my stay & would return, though just a shame about vegetarian breakfast (though I appreciate catering for everyone would cause some waste).

In response to your email, you said our reason for work purposes was not good enough straight away and warning us about a £5,000 fine made us feel like our valid reason would somehow end us up with a fine. You already sowed seeds of doubt into our heads and therefore did not make us feel welcome and happily took our money.

Do not book this hotel! Very RUDE and SNEAKY owner. We booked this hotel for work purposes and received all the relevant confirmation emails. We received a phone call from the manager on the day of arrival asking for our reasons for travel as she hadn't had a reply from us. Her emails arrived in my junk folder which I was not aware of ( just the day after of the booking day )and she said it wasn't her problem and she didn’t believe anyway and that our reason for travel was not good enough according to the guidelines. She had enough time to call us prior to arrival to confirm our reason for travel but obviously waited until the day the put us off and gain £90 in her pocket. She was extremely rude and argumentative and her underhand tactics to gain money from customers is despicable. Please stay away from this establishment at all costs. On the top of that she said if we could have cancelled it days in advance you could have maybe refund the money?? Nowhere you could see prior booking all this was going to be questioned but when you could in the morning of our travel she said that was not a reason enough to travel and also on the website it said you pay the day of the booking but also the money was taken straight away the day we booked.

A true Gem room view cleanliness 5 star 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Breakfast very good .Totally wonderful stay even though a work trip will be returning for leisure.

Great breakfast, host was lovely and location couldn't have been better being right on the river. Just a few mins walk to station and cathedral. Will definitely return.
