We were very satisfied. Friendly reception, friendly and prompt service. Good food and more than enough large portions. My Spaghetti Vongole would have been enough for the whole family. I don't think it's fair to complain about the prices here, as you've already seen the prices on the menu and therefore didn't have to order and leave the restaurant. We enjoyed it and would like to come back.

I can't rate the room because we didn't stay overnight. The restaurant, staff, food, everything was so TOP. Rarely have we seen such committed, motivated, child-friendly staff. The food, whether pizza, pasta, rice, fish, fries, everything is freshly and deliciously prepared and served. Extra requests were easily accommodated. The salad dressing is something unique and really delicious - my insider tip - definitely order a salad :) Thank you for everything, we will definitely come back :)

It was OK. We received the wrong iced tea, but received nothing other than a “sorry” - the staff didn't even ask if we wanted a new drink. The starters are extremely small, but the price is steep. (Large Mozzi tomato salad 3 tomato slices, 2 Mozzi slices). As a group we didn't receive the main course together, one person still had to wait 10 minutes. For the price you should be able to expect the quality.

The restaurant is located in the immediate vicinity of Augusta Raurica and parking spaces. Large covered terrace in summer. In addition to the normal, extensive menu, there are also seasonal offers and an ice cream counter. Daily menus. Also space for larger groups. Apero bar for occasions.

Very nice service, very fine food😋

Had a 3-course meal there last night for 80 CHF per person. The tomato soup was delicious, the main course was absolutely inedible! The beef fillet was a piece of shoe sole, the tagliatelle was boring and the mushrooms were so sour that it took away all your facial features! The tiramisù at the end was swimming in coffee more than necessary and I left it alone...

The food was so-so. The Spaghetti Vongole was super spicy, the Mama mia pizza had little salsicce but more onions on it. The pizza topping is very thin but the topping floats to the top. In response to our feedback, the waitress replied that we should have said this earlier, to which we could only reply that we would have done so if she had stopped by again after eating... an average experience

In the summer the atmosphere is nice, there is usually space in the parking lot and the staff was always friendly and accommodating. However, I think the food is totally overpriced in the meantime. The price/performance ratio is no longer right.

We had ordered the lunch menu. Food was impeccable, we got soup, a pizza and dessert. Although it's strange to have to choose between salad and soup when you're offered a 4-course meal -> actually 3-course? Dessert only came upon request. Luckily we had a lot of time. For a working lunch it would have to be a little quicker between courses. Price/performance was okay.

Very friendly service. Unfortunately a bit difficult with a stroller as it has steps. The food was very good, price and performance were right. I'll definitely go there again.

Cozy restaurant with plenty of parking spaces and a large terrace. There is a good selection of lunch menus, something for every taste. Even as a mother with a small child, I always feel welcome. The play area is a good idea, but it needs to be cleaned up a bit and defects sorted out ;-)

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and the food was also good, but I had to look twice at the prices. Pizza with salami for CHF 24 and with shrimps for CHF 31.50 I think that's clearly too much. Sorry, it's a pizza.

Beautiful garden and terrace, good food. All that's missing is quiet Italian music. Nice friendly staff, it took a little longer to pay but it was ok. It's a shame that the good Italian salad dressing is no longer available.

We also combine good food with a nice ambience where you can feel good and relax. We didn't find that at the Römerhof. There are table after table on the large terrace and you can tell that money is being made here from the masses. There was no trace of a cozy "garden atmosphere" and we were glad that the restaurant wasn't fully booked, because then the person sitting next to us would have been able to look directly into our plates. The light above the tables is equipped with lamps that shine in a dazzling white light and do not create a pleasant atmosphere. The food was very good and for people who don't value the ambience, the Römerhof is recommended.

We had a table for 4 people Reserved on: July 8th, 2023 Table was not ready. We had to wait even though we were on time. We waited a good 70 minutes for the starters and only received them after we asked. (Starter = cold salads!) Food is overpriced, for example one person had the roast beef from the summer menu, this was not homemade, there were 6 small pieces of meat and a lot of salad for about 28.- the whole meal was heartlessly prepared and not worth the price. We will definitely never be guests here again.

Several days before, I reserved a table for two people. When we arrived we were allowed to choose between 2 not quite optimal uncovered places. There were also set tables that were reserved. The staff was available in sufficient numbers. You didn't have one contact person, but several. The one employee said she only spoke English. Time passed from ordering the two summer dishes. While at other tables, guests who arrived a bit after us had already had their food. Let's place our inquiry with an employee. Nothing worked. Only when we contacted the boss did we receive our salads after an hour of waiting. These were served with cold chicken meat without salad dressing. There were similar problems at other tables. Definitely not worth another visit for us.

Visit on July 8th, 2023. We made reservations for 7 people and arrived at around 7:40 p.m. There was no cutlery on the table for 3 of the 7 people who registered. The reception was moderately motivated. After we were able to place the order as follows (2x starter mixed salad, 5x main course various pizzas, 2x main course various Cordon Bleu), absolutely nothing happened apart from the delivery of the drinks. At 8:27 p.m. (!) the two mixed salads were brought to us, where unfortunately we only had enough for two bites of the rare salads because 4 of the 7 main courses had already been brought, including the main courses of those people who had ordered the starter ! After asking whether the remaining main courses would follow, the answer was simply a shrug of the shoulders and actually... after another 5 minutes the remaining main courses arrived. The food was timid, unconvincing and heartlessly prepared. Motto after the meal: “Pay quickly and go!” Unfortunately, it wasn't the first time we had such a negative experience at this restaurant, but it was definitely the last time we ate there!

We were there on Whit Monday and wanted to have an ice cream in the afternoon. We waited in vain for service. The restaurant was only moderately busy and there were enough serving staff. Nevertheless, no one took care of our table in the countryside. After 20 minutes we left the restaurant! We will never go there again.

The menu is much too large, meaning every meal is average to below average. Mozarella not edible with Caprese, most likely industrial mozzarella. Pizza very average. Wouldn't eat here again.

Had lunch on Saturday. The restaurant was well attended. We had a good soup as a starter and pizza as a main course, everything tasted good, and a very good Tirami Su for dessert. Would love to come back.

Prices too high. Food could be better

It was our first time at the Römerhof and I was very excited because I had already heard a lot about it. The ambience was disappointing both from the outside and inside. The guest room seems rather kitschy and loveless. My Martini Bianco as an aperitif was served with olives. I've never experienced that before and the actually delicious drink tasted more salty than sweet. The olives belong in the Dry Martini! There was also so much ice in the giant glass that the martini was barely visible. The food was, to put it mildly, “defensively seasoned”. The spinach was watery and tasted almost unseasoned. I didn't taste or see any of the ricotta and mascarpone. Nevertheless, the food was very greasy. The service was ok. Friendly but rather unprofessional. All in all overrated and overpriced.

I ordered pizza Toto Schillaci yesterday. Because this is with beef fillet and I like to try this when I go to an Italian restaurant for the first time. Unfortunately, the fillet wasn't served in small pieces/strips, but as thin slices like carpaccio. The pizza was fresh and tasted good, but it wasn't what I wanted and like all the other Italians I've tried🤷🏼‍♂️ The pizza was mediocre and that's why it's 3 stars.

The food wasn't bad. The sauces that covered the entire plate and the dishes were clearly criticized for two dishes. Which you could serve in a jug if you like. Not everyone likes plates dripping with sauce! Unfortunately the service was not at all professional, but friendly.

The service is very poorly organized. Impossible to get a jug of water for the children, but a bottle of water for 11.50 CHF. The prices are high and the food is bland. It's a shame, because it's not the first time we've come there, but it's the first time we've been so poorly served and it wasn't great anymore. We'll look for something else!

The food at the Römerhof is always of good quality, the feeling of Italy comes straight away, great. I think it's great on the terrace, especially in summer.

The restaurant is generally not bad, but the pizza there is not that good. The pizza is very dry and has little tomato sauce or cheese on it. We don't have to talk about the price. Way too high for this pizza. However, the dessert is very good. I had a scoop of ice cream.

Beautiful restaurant and excellent food. The pizza is an absolute dream, as is the rest of the menu. The price is a little higher, but I'm happy to pay a little more for high quality food. The staff is very friendly and seems well coordinated. The food was served very quickly. The restaurant is very easy to reach. No matter whether on foot (e.g. if you are planning an Augusta Aurarica trip) or by car. There are enough parking spaces on site (for visitors only). We'll definitely come by again 👍🏻

Far too expensive, mediocre quality, service leaves a lot to be desired: Everyone ordered a salad as a starter, even though there was a side salad on the menu - we would have expected this to be brought to our attention. In many cases the prices are 20-25% higher. Service was unfriendly when we pointed out that the meat was tough. A little greeting from the kitchen would have been enough. It wasn't addressed.

After many years I was at the Römerhof again and was not disappointed. We stopped there on a warm summer Sunday afternoon after a long walk through Augusta Raurica. Homemade tiramisu and the ice cream coupes were plentiful and very tasty. The service was friendly and prompt. The garden terrace has many shady parasols and a children's playground with a large trampoline.

Unfortunately our visit wasn't that great. Service was flop. The worst thing was that after the perch fillet I had to struggle with nausea and diarrhea for 2 days!! Never again sorry!

We had a very warm welcome and the place is quiet. I highly recommend this establishment. If another time I come back to Basel, I would stay again and the detour is worth it.

Went last Sunday because everything was very good and plentiful. The only complaint is the risotto 9.- francs is not good, needs Italian help, wouldn't order any more, not enough taste and overcooked. Fries good but 7.- francs fillet steak over 40 no side dish tourists prices good but not for locals. Pizza great and good cordon bleu and salmon flawless. Suggestion in the truffle sauce a few pieces of truffle, not just truffle oil. Thank you Chef Rico

The food itself was okay, the service was a complete disaster. Four of us went out to eat, we ordered 2 pizzas and 2 pasta dishes. The pizzas came and we had to wait 15 minutes for the pasta dishes. That meant we couldn't eat together Service wasn't interested at all. The water we ordered only found its way to us after we asked. It's a shame, but that was the last time we were there.

Disastrous restaurant visit - NOT RECOMMENDED - UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES!!!

After 1 hour from ordering, the service employee informed us that due to a system error, our order had not been received in the kitchen. It would come in 10 minutes. After another 15 minutes, she informed us that it was already on the table in the kitchen. After another 15 minutes we left the restaurant. It is a complete disgrace that we were lied to and that the service staff is so inattentive that after so long they don't notice that the food we ordered is still not on the table. At least the system was still working when we placed the order for the kids. It is incomprehensible that after noticing the system error, the idea of ​​processing the orders one after the other did not occur to us. There was also no offer from the boss to at least offer drinks. A very disappointing visit. We will no longer be your guests and wish future guests no system failure.
