Delightful & cozy restaurant. Staff are welcoming & helpful - Fondue is excellent, as was the soup. Well worth a visit!

We ate fondue with bread and papines but honestly we didn't like it. The fondue tasted more like alcohol than cheese. I had too much white wine which unfortunately ruined everything. The place and the service have been good but we will not eat there again.

As the name indicates, it is mostly cheese, and the fondu was tasty. However, the dessert fondu was a miss and way overpriced. the fruits were too thin for the skewer and the weight of the chocolate. This gets a 1 start for me and a big "caution" sign for you because we ended up spending $33CHF in bottled still water- we had 2 bottles!!This is by FAR the most we spent on water the entire time and is simply outrageous!

Unfortunately, we really missed the lady who served us for the last few years...even though it was a difficult start, the chef de service and the waitress subsequently managed it well.

By far the best cheese dishes in Zermatt (Fondue, Raclette). Especially loved the Raclette Journey with three different types of raclette. Our server Norbert was also very hospitable and made the night enjoyable.

The cheese fondue service was very good, superior quality service, delicious food and good wines... The chef served it by scraping the remaining cheese, especially the bottom, and the liqueurs they gave as a gift when leaving the restaurant... It is definitely a restaurant that cares about its guests and offers the perfect service.

Great experience in this hidden restaurant serving classic Swiss food and the best cheese fondue I’ve had yet. Service was notably great. Definitely recommend.

They cancled our reservation a few hours in advance, even though we booked a week in advanced

average food, They tried to bribe our rating, that's why they have good reviews.

Group reservations, which I placed as early as possible, were rejected without comment or explanation two months after the reservation request was confirmed. And only upon request. If I hadn't asked, we would probably have been standing in front of a full restaurant and no one would have known about our reservation. Sorry, every beer bar can do that better. So I can't say anything about the ambience or the food since we didn't get that far.

Perfect fondue. We ordered the cheese one and then the chocolate Toblerone, it's a shame we couldn't eat the raclette after all that. Super cozy atmosphere. It is underneath a hotel where you must go down a staircase whose entrance is discreet, so I suggest doing a lot of research on Google maps and street view to identify the exact location of the entrance. Everything is very good, it's worth it, but go with your wallet prepared, you can research the prices on the menu on the website beforehand to get an estimate. In my case, the cheese and toblerone fondues, plus wine and water cost around CHF 170... but it's worth every penny.

Small restaurant under one of the town's historic hotels. The room is underground without windows and would need greater air exchange. The menu is limited but well curated. The fondue is good and is the strong dish of the kitchen and is offered in different variations. The zippers are discreet Friendly and professional staff, average prices

Nice place with delicious food. Located in the basement under the hotel. It was difficult to find, they went around this building for a couple of times, until they decided to go into the hotel and ask... where is this restaurant. They immediately saw the entrance.

Great atmosphere and decor. Waiters were attentive and great service. Unfortunately no hard copy menu available. Menu online is hard to read. Food variety is limited and not special. Tap water was Chf10 in a country which has abundant of mineral water, I was informed but still something I can't make sense of in Switzerland. Bread was good.

Ordered wine and cheese fondue. Fondue was among the better tasting fondues I have had in Switzerland. The reason for 3 stars is the prices of drinks, particularly water, are inflated even for Zermatt. 10 CHF per liter for tap water is simply astonishing and the server seemed annoyed that I questioned it. I consider myself to be well-traveled, and I have never seen such a high charge for tap water in Switzerland or anywhere else.

Service was nice - they even gave us a little surprise appetizer. The atmosphere was pretty hard to get over though. It was way too warm in the restaurant, a bit too dark as well, and the other folks in the restaurant at the time weren't exactly my cup of tea. As far as the food goes, I think we just don't particularly enjoy fondue, so that that with a grain of salt.

The restaurant is located underground and is very cozy and warm. We shared the classic cheese fondue and the dried sausage. Everything was delicious and the fondue against expectations was enough food for dinner for us both. The service was friendly.

The food was mostly good. The fondue tasted a bit like they added too much raw wine at the end. The Raclette “journey”, comprised of three different Raclettes, all tasted pretty much the same. The prices for the food lined up with Zermatt pricing. The service was mediocre, I think we had a server on their first day. The tap water was 10 CHF per liter. I can’t begin to understand why tap water would cost anything let alone be so expensive when right out the front door there is a fountain that has unlimited free tap water. Overall, it was decent but I probably would try other fondue places before this one.

You have to have fondue in Switzerland!! Sooo good! In the Summer we had to ask around for a good fondue place and all the locals said Saycheese! I was wary about the name but goodness it was good! The ambiance (it’s in a basement) and overall aesthetic was perfect for a night of fondue! We did the local cheese fondue and ended with the Toblerone dessert fondue with fresh fruit. DO NOT skip the dessert!! Also wanted to steal one of their boiled potato bags 😂

This is a great place for an intimate date! The fondue is delicious and some of the best in town, while all of the staff was very welcoming. They also have a great wine menu and the staff is very knowledgeable about pairings and will help you find the perfect bottle. We will be coming here again the next time we visit Zermatt!

We were there again after about 5 years and were very impressed this time too. The service was very good. The two new employees in particular were very friendly and accommodating. The food was also very tasty this time and we would come back again and again. Please keep it up.

This is the very first time for us to try Swiss Cheese Fondue. This restaurant is quite nice and very good decoration. The staff were nice and friendly. Ther service was excellent. We ordered Cheese Fondue and Meat Fondue. The taste is quite good although it was a little pricey but it worth visit .

Lovely place, great food - especially the toblerone fondue

My husband and I visited saycheese! for the fondue. It delivered a delicious, intimate, and fun experience! We ordered the mild fondue with a couple meat options to accompany the bread and potatoes. It really rounded out the meal, leaving us full and satisfied. A nice accommodation was a private closet for our coats and winter gear to save them from the cheese smell. Also, the restaurant itself is cozy, offering different nooks and crannies for parties to have a more private experience - being a couple on our honeymoon, we appreciated that! You can’t go wrong if you dine here on your Zermatt trip for your fondue fill.

A little disappointed in Say Cheese. We had reservations for 6pm and arrived at 6 and had to wait several minutes for them to unlock the door. Atmosphere and service was good. The fondue was good but I've had better and it was less expensive at other restaurants in Zermatt. Was very disappointed they charged 20CHF for 2 carafes of tap water!

Overall a really delicious restaurant in a nice setting. My wife and I got the fondue pot, which was delicous. I’d also recommend ordering the meats on the menu for dipping into the fondue (we didn’t realize that’s what they were for until asking our server) Two things kept this from getting a 5: -after we finished dinner, we had to get up and ask for our check. And then get up to hand our card back to them. It was like we disappeared after the food was finished -we were overcharged for water - asked for tap and were given bottled instead

The service provided is excellent, with friendly staff who speak Portuguese, making the experience even more pleasant. Raclette, both mild and stronger, is very good. The truffle cheese fondue is good, however, if I return, I would opt for the normal cheese fondue, as the truffle has an initial effect, but afterwards, it doesn't add as much flavor. Although the prices are a little high, as is common in Zermatt, the quality of the dishes and service justifies it. Good place to visit if you are looking for a good meal and good service.

Was here 4 years ago. It was an experience back then. This time we were disappointed. Fondue and bread with potatoes were ok, but the atmosphere wasn't that atmospheric.

The food is good, location is amazing (a bit hard to find initially as it's in the basement of the hotel), most of the staff is extremely friendly except the manager - she is extremely rude and doesn't know how to interact with the clients. Big kudos to the folks under her as they were apologising on her behalf and provided a great service to us. Also tap water is 10 CHF per carafe, which is absolutely insane.

Service was very great and nice. Cheese fondue and Toblerone fondue are a dream, you have to eat them. We recommend!

A nice and cozy atmosphere. The service was very attentive and the food was good. The price of CHF 18 for 1 liter of mineral water was incomprehensible.

Oh boy, it's going to take me a week to digest all the cheese I ate but it was totally worth it! This place was recommended to us by the hotel we were staying at as the best fondue place in Zermatt. Reservations highly encouraged. We ordered the Valais mountain fondue with porcini mushrooms. This is the stronger of the two fondues they offer. Our waitress suggested the mushrooms as an add on and it was delicious. It's served with this bread that reminded me of communion bread. It was scored in small pieces you could just break off. They also brought a bag of potatoes to dip also. It was good. Really good. Both my spouse and I thought it might be the best fondue either of us have had. Warning: it's a lot of cheese for two people but we pushed through to the end and they even scraped the bottom and gave us the "burnt" cheese which I thought was the best part. Even as full as we were, I wanted to try the chocolate fondue. It's a lot smaller than the cheese so don't be afraid to order it. It's made from Toblerone chocolate and you get a plate of assorted fruits and gummy bears to dip. We ate what we could. We gave a valiant effort. Highly recommend giving them a try. Of course they have other stuff on the menu but if you're going to a place called saycheese, then you need to order the fondue.

We, four persons, have ordered 3 starters: green salad, sausage plate and a soup. Only came green salad as the starter. After the long waiting sausage plate came with the cheese fondue and there was no soup. Then the waiter said do you still want the soup or not. What a service of a five star hotel restaurant in Zermatt?

I was thrown off by the restaurant's quirky name, which is much better than it sounds. SayCheese! is a beautiful and delicious gem in the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof. I was afraid the fondue would be heavy and trouble for my stomach. That was not the case. It ended up being a delicious and enjoyable experience. The staff was accommodating, answering all my questions since fondue is typically different from my usual list of dining options. Get yourself and your group a bottle of wine and enjoy the unique experience.

It was on my list to try fondue in the Swiss Alps, but I’m traveling solo and didn’t want to feel awkward eating fondue alone. However, I gave it a shot and was super impressed with saycheese!. Not only were the food and cocktails delicious, but the staff made me feel so comfortable and welcomed as a solo traveler. Fantastic experience!

Saycheese! is not what you would expect from a "traditional" Swiss Stubli. The decor is very nice but on the modern side, which we were not expecting. The menu itself was traditional with some upper scale cheese fondue options (Champagne, Truffle, Porcini) and the wine list had a GREAT selection of local wines. Note: your reservation is valid for 90 mins.

Really liked this place! Loved the fondue and all the vegetables jt came with. Also really liked the fact that they had non-alcoholic wine and other cool non-alcoholic beverages aside from the typical sodas! 100% recommended:)

I recently dined at Say Cheese! and was thoroughly impressed by my experience. As a parent, I appreciated the great selection of menu items that were perfect for my kids. The fondue was excellent and a standout dish, definitely worth trying. I also appreciated the nonalcoholic wine selection, which allowed me to enjoy a glass of wine without the alcohol. The ambience was warm and cozy, creating a nice atmosphere for our family dinner. Overall, I would highly recommend Say Cheese! to anyone looking for a fun and delicious dining experience with their loved ones.

Say Cheese has been our worst dining experience in Zermatt to date. My husband and I arrived on time and ordered a green salad and fondue. The salad arrived in reasonable time, however the fondue arrived around 1 hour after the salad was finished even though we ordered at the same time. It was quite frustrating and dissapointing to see tables around us having fondue who arrived and ordered after us. The Maitre d' apologised as we were leaving and provided a small token of her apologies. It wasn't her fault, however we will not be returning or recommending the restaurant.

We had a lovely experience at say cheese! The fondue was amazing and super filling but we still had room for their Toblerone fondue for desert! Even though they were busy, the service was great. This was a fantastic place to go to after a long day of skiing and a fun date night too.

Not an easy place to find, it is located in Grand Hotel Zermatterhof. Need to walk down a few flights of stairs to start enjoying your lovely meal. Please is nicely decorated and all their staff are helpful and knowledgeable. Able to ensure you will have a wonderful dinner experience. By default the cheese fondue is a must try and you can dip almost anything in it. Highly recommended!!!

Fondue night at this hotel restaurant. Poor service. Lady who was serving us was like a seller and at some point it got annoyed. I wouldnt go there again hence not recommending.

Very good restaurant to eat a good fondue. The staff is attentive and attentive to details. The only negative point is that you may be placed in the corridor leading to the toilets even if you have reserved…

Great authentic fondue experience! Very nice restaurant with fantastic service. Our server Sonja was so helpful with her recommendations and she was spot on. Food was excellent.

Nice restaurant. We had an excellent sparkling wine to start. The spicy cheese fondue was very tasty. For dessert we had a nut cake with raspberry sorbet and the pear and apricot sorbet, both of which were great. The service could have been a little more attentive, but since we were sitting around the corner we had a quiet spot which was nice.

We spent a very pleasant evening here. The waiters were very friendly and attentive. The cheese fondue was of good quality. Price-performance ratio is absolutely right here. I can highly recommend it to everyone.

We spent a lovely evening in the restaurant, because the food was of sufficient quality and quantity. On the other hand, what I find unfortunate is that we reserved a table 3 weeks in advance and they placed us in a corner of the restaurant near the toilets, when people who did not have a reservation were eating in the large much more cheerful room, we had to get up 3 times to go find a waitress, because they ''forgot'' us in the corner of the hidden restaurant, which I find a shame, too. It was often the manager/owner who came to serve us. Also, if you are alone you can eat whatever you want for NO additional cost, BUT if there are two of you, you are forced to eat the same meal, which I find Frenchly unacceptable, which is good for one, is good for everyone! Also, when we receive the invoice with a pencil, it is written that we can write down the number of tips, subsequently when we pay, the manager asks us again to please choose this option to give the tip. The tip in Canada is almost obligatory, in Europe it is a personal choice. With a service where you have to get up repeatedly to get service, it doesn't deserve a tip!

A very nice atmosphere with very competent advice on food and wine. We enjoyed a cheese fondue with porcini mushrooms, which was incredibly delicious (also the bread and potatoes with it). For dessert there was a Toblerone fondue with fresh fruit, which was also very good. So very good price-performance ratio. We met an American couple and the atmosphere was very nice and entertaining with the service too.

The service was very friendly and accommodating, very tasty Bärgchäs fondue (also enough for good eaters) Price very fair for Swiss conditions and ambience. We would love to come back when we are in Zermatt.

Food was delicious. Wectried, cheese fondue, Raclette, Fondue Chinoise among other dishes. The fondue has many choices of cheese to choose from. The staff was professional and very friendly.

Not easy to find but a hidden gem. We were still able to get a table without reservation. Service was great, almost at a fine dining restaurant's level. We got a little free cheese pie from the kitchen and of course the fondue was good.

By far the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant in my life. The food was good, although not quite worth the price, but the customer service experience I had was horrible and completely ruined the meal. We were told that water was 10 francs so we decided not to get water, and instead asked a waiter if we could drink our own water (since we had just happened to buy some before arriving), and were told it was fine. As we were drinking the water, the manager came over to us and berated us for drinking our own water, calling us “incredibly rude” to our face. I understand now that what we did was considered impolite in Switzerland at least, but we didn’t know this (as we were tourists) and had also asked another waiter first! Regardless, it was rude and demeaning for the manager to yell at us like that, as there are much better ways to handle that situation. Not only that, but the manager then charged us 10 francs for drinking our own water. To be yelled at and punished like that completely ruined the mood and the meal.

Bit of a hidden gem as they had availability on the door (which is hidden down some steps outside the front of the hotel) whereas a lot of other restaurants were fully booked. I had a fondue to myself for €29. The mountain fondue was a really fun experience and stronger than normal cheese but quite a nice flavour. It came with a lot of bread and some boiled potatoes in a bag so quite filling. The cheese crust was OK...

Stylish, well-kept cheese restaurant with friendly staff in the converted basement of a luxury hotel. Anyone who likes cheese will find a little paradise here and will be happy to come back.

Get a cheese fondue and when they ask whether you want the cheese crust, just say yes... you can thank me later! Staff were really nice and managed to fit us in without a reservation between bookings, the food was great and the smell of the place is amazing! Great ambiance and decor, great atmosphere, would definitely recommend!

First of all, the service is not particularly good, the fondue 🫕 is not bad but not incredible either and in the end you find out that the carafe of water costs 10CHF, you read quite well, 10CHF... of course. Everywhere else in Zermatt the carafe costs 1CHF, there it costs 10 times more... congratulations! Just not a good address… that was our last time there.

Very surprised. They are a high-end restaurant with top notch food but with a great sense of hummer and down to earth staff who make you feel right at home. Will definitely go again! But book early since space is limited and they are very popular.

Fantastic raclette selection, probably the best raclette I've ever had (for someone from outside Switzerland). The starter with the goat cheese was also delicious. Any time ;-)

We had to order a second fondue because the first one was too thick and therefore the cheese was used up way too quickly. The second one was better, but a bit on the runny side. For a restaurant that specialises in Fondue I would expect more consistency and quality control. Also no condiments were served with the fondue. I think for an authentic fondue experience it’s better to go to the Julen Schäferstube. On the plus side: service was good and the bread and potatoes served with the fondue were also very good. The wine selection is also very good as they share the wince cellar with the other restaurants in the hotel.

Not recommended, service team disaster. Preices are just to big for what they offer. Never going back there.

Great restaurant with one of the best fondues I've ever tasted 👌

The ambience and the food, at least the raclette we ordered, were good. But what's not possible in my opinion is that liquor bottles are put on the table at the end and you get the impression that this is part of it and is on the house. In the end you have a rude awakening and you pay 18 francs. You really feel cheated here. If I want a schnapps I order one, if someone comes to the table I expect it to be on the house and if so then it's definitely not 18Fr. Totally exaggerated and non-transparent. The customer should at least be made clear that this is not a gift from the company and the prices should be presented transparently.

Pass on making a reservation here; in between making a booking and the planned seating time, my partner suddenly fell ill with a vicious migraine. I immediately called to request cancellation, more than one hour before seating; this was met with a demand to pay a CHF 70 cancellation fee, saying there was no exception to the “no-show” policy for those cancelling less than 24h ahead. Rather than pay this penalty and obtain nothing in return, my wife forcefully insisted I just go eat alone in a restaurant whose menu is inherently ill-equipped to handle solo diners. The rigid cancellation penalty felt doubly inane when more than half the tables were empty; clearly, we were the stupid ones for making a reservation in the first place, when we could have just kept the flexibility to either drop in or not. Lesson learned for us, and hopefully a mistake you’ll avoid. The staff was truly exceptional, very friendly and sympathetic to my situation . One server shared my discomfort with the situation and sought to resolve it (alas, he couldn’t). The cheese fondue ws excellent (the presentation, in particular), as was the sorbet and torte dessert. Just don't be fooled into reserving, as you could well end up finding out about their lack of sympathy for guests facing the unexpected.

We had a wonderful and, above all, tasty evening at Saycheese. The cozy and at the same time chic restaurant is located in the basement of the Zermatterhof and I can highly recommend it. After a nice greeting from our waitress, Ms. Altmann, she led us to our table. She was able to answer all of our questions about the menu precisely and so we had a delicious menu with a starter, main course and dessert and (by Swiss standards) at a good price. We also enjoyed the drinks. We were not disappointed by Ms. Altmann's recommendation. The amount of dishes was completely sufficient for a group of 4 (men starving from skiing and me). Overall, I can say that we received friendly and quick service and we went home very happy and full. Kudos to the kitchen and the entire team at Saycheese! Keep it up and hopefully see you soon!
