Very nice, modernized country restaurant with a large outdoor terrace in a quiet location with a view. Very personable, friendly and reasonably quick service. As first-time visitors, we immediately felt welcome. The chef's daily recommendation, cod fillet on green oven-baked asparagus and small potatoes, tasted excellent. Here we cook and serve with a lot of love. We'd love to come back.

Very friendly service and excellent food

We were there for the second time, but also for the last time. I don't understand the positive feedback, they're probably all regular customers who receive a nice and friendly welcome? In any case, people you don't know aren't greeted in a friendly manner, the service is okay but nothing more. The food is okay but bland and very small portions for a high price. When we wanted to pay the bill, we had to contact two different women because we didn't receive any feedback as to whether they had seen us. As a result, we were verbally attacked because we asked a colleague about the bill again. Are you crazy? This was the last time we were here, view or not.

Excellent restaurant for excursions but also for people from the area who - to be honest - don't have that many alternatives to be able to enjoy good cuisine and attentive, super-friendly service. The quiet terrace boasts a wonderful view all the way to neighboring Germany. On cool evenings there are wool blankets so you can enjoy nature for as long as possible. The food is excellent and - having re-tasted a dish that is very easy to screw up - on a number of occasions, I can say that it is of consistently high quality. All in all, one of my top restaurants in my area. I'd love to come back again and again.

Insane view. New modern restaurant with lots of wood fits well into the landscape. We were in the garden restaurant. The service is polite, attentive and provides service with joy. You can feel that well. The kitchen also functions at a high level. Great quality. Eat good. We didn't have to wait long for it. We would love to come back again.

The meat cooking point was completely missed when we asked for "bloody", the first one was returned, the second one still wasn't as I wanted (what could be easier than grilling bloody 🥹?) but since I didn't want to enjoy my birthday meal alone, I kept it, but those Nice service announced in the kitchen that it was still not BLOODY!!! Unfortunately there was no response from management, very unfortunate for such a restaurant!!! So we paid for 2 people. the Fr. 217.80 and were very disappointed!!!

Good food, great terrace, friendly staff, gladly again

Food was good and expensive. Unfortunately the ratio isn't quite right. More appearance than reality. The boss herself behaves like a shy apprentice. A brief greeting was all we received. She seemed quite comfortable behind the counter. Even though we were a large group and our meal was announced, there were a few mistakes. Especially when it comes to billing. More expensive meals were charged. When asked about it, there was no real response. They probably thought that at the end we would say we'll pay anyway. In between, wine was spilled by the staff. Of course at our expense. Yes, the food was good but too expensive. The service was just terrible. We are sorry, even if we see how other guests are treated. We cannot understand the positive reviews.

We had dinner on Saturday evening. The food is very good, as is the ambience. Unfortunately, I had a foreign body (plastic part of the packaging) in the ice cream during the dessert. It can happen, but it shouldn't. The waitress apologized very politely, that's true. But I would have expected a coffee or something like that as a gesture. There is still room for improvement.

Finally the rest is over.Schauenberg is in good hands. After years of odyssey, the perfect hosts have been found. The food is excellent, good home-style, the plates are hot and the portions are perfect. The service was very warm, friendly and unobtrusive. All around a snow place to celebrate, enjoy and be. An enrichment for Elgg and the surrounding area. Lots of joy and fun from the host family

With company for lunch, it was very good. Located on a hill between Ettenhausen TG and Elgg ZH.

Very personal, friendly and attentive service. The cuisine is fantastic: I enjoyed nut salad with egg (and also a quail egg!) and wild garlic croutons, then the veal shank with spaetzli - one of three recommendations from the chef. Stunning!

The hipness around the restaurant is incomprehensible. The two boss ladies are very distant and say “Grüezi” which is a real challenge. The food was average to normal. It's incomprehensible how the prices are justified. Not worth a second visit.

Top quality food, very varied and very friendly service. It couldn't be better. It should be noted that the owner-managed restaurant was only (re-)opened in the fall of last year and any previous reviews can be attributed to the previous operator. Otherwise the current ranking would look much better. In any case, we really appreciate the current offer and are always happy to be able to eat at theSchauenberg restaurant.

It's lucky for theSchauberg that the Daley family has taken over. Great hosts and super delicious food. We will be back.

In the middle of the large hiking area, you really enjoy visiting this special, modern and very clean restaurant, which is also known for its home-style cuisine. The boss should show herself at the table, even if the restaurant was very well booked like today. Unfortunately, the daily menu, lunch and wine list are still missing from the homepage, and the fondue restaurant offering is also not mentioned. The website is your business card and must be kept up to date. If this is not possible internally, please commission it externally. Either way, the digital age has not yet arrived on theSchauenberg. Despite this criticism: We will definitely come back, let ourselves be surprised and enjoy the fine cuisine! Keep up the small corrections mentioned!

Unfortunately, the restaurant will be closed until the end of October 2022 - change of tenant On the recommendation of a friend, we visited theSchauenberg restaurant. The fantastic view was accompanied by friendly and attentive service and the whole thing was rounded off by a wonderful and delicious meal. The panko-breaded chicken schnitzels were juicy and tender. I dare say it was the best chicken dish I have ever eaten. The tagliatelle with cherry tomatoes, spring onions, eggplant and fresh basil were a poem. Important note to connoisseurs: Be sure to plan space or enough time for the refreshing desserts. It's definitely worth it!

Nice location, but the rest leaves a lot to be desired. Chaotic service, dirty table and overpriced. We had vermicelle, which was beautifully decorated but tiny. But it cost 10.50. We really thought he miscalculated when we paid. I've never gotten such a small vermicelle in a restaurant and especially not for the price.

I have been visiting this restaurant for 3 years, the gastronomy is very good, but today I am immensely disappointed with the attention and the service staff. The waiter was rude and very arrogant, I can't understand this attitude, it was very unpleasant for us and I think for other guests too. What was really sad was that I really wanted to enjoy the beautiful weather with my 11-year-old daughter and invited her to dinner at theSchauenberg restaurant. It was supposed to be a cozy, relaxed meal, the weather was absolutely perfect! My daughter then asked: Mom, why does the waiter treat us so badly…??? We just asked for napkins (which were unfortunately missing from the table) and immediately received an aggressive answer: MOOOOMENT!!! When we had finished eating, after asking three times, he brought us the napkins!!! It was the same with the ketchup, we asked for it 3 times, but unfortunately we didn't get it at all!!! All in all it was a complete disaster. At least the food was good. But we don't know whether we should visit this restaurant again. We recommend that the boss replace the staff accordingly...!

Top location, top location but unfortunately the service leaves a lot to be desired. Some of the staff speak almost no German and are very inattentive. The food is good but just too expensive in relation to the service.

A very attentive and friendly service. We were first able to enjoy the wonderful view on the beautiful terrace with an aperitif before moving on to the very fine main course in the lovingly decorated restaurant. We are already looking forward to the next visit.

This is an unfortunately necessary reassessment after an excellent review a year ago. First of all: The food is still excellently cooked, served warm and attractively presented. But the service... Having to wave and call so often until someone finally acknowledges the coffee order or the request for the bill is simply not allowed! And it must also be clearly stated that the guest is entitled to a complete invoice showing the individual consumption. In addition, it seems strange to clear the menus with the prices before paying - hopefully this is not with the intention of making it impossible to see whether everything is correct? It's a shame - after the ups and downs of the last few years, we've had the impression several times recently that theSchauberg has finally found its footing. Was that a misjudgment?

Nice view and nice ambience. But unfriendly male service with portions that are far too small and prices that are quite overpriced. There were 7 ribbon noodles as a side dish for 7 francs, i.e. 1 ribbon noodle equals 1 franc!!! Likewise, little attention was paid to our constructive criticism at the end. So we'll never come back.
