Schnuggebock in Teufen (AR)

Great ambience! We felt very comfortable, unfortunately the portions are a bit small and you're still hungry after eating. I also find it relatively expensive! The two points influenced our visit somewhat.

Always nice here for young and old. Large playground and lots of animals.

This location is simply great for all ages, we always enjoy visiting the Appenzellers

The ambience is something different. Like in grandmother's time. A great idea. However, you feel that you just want to make money here. People are pressed close together, everything should move quickly and quickly. Barley soup is served before the ordered meal. The food comes in large bowls and then has to be divided at the table itself. The meat portions in the bowls are designed for women, men are definitely still hungry after eating and need dessert. At a certain time the light supposedly goes out and lamps are hung up. The atmosphere is nice, but after 10 minutes the whole magic is over and the lights are turned on again. Why all the nonsense? Either have a real power outage for half an hour or leave it off completely. The staff has long since retired but is still working. The lady is very funny and personable. The toilets are clean and have a plum toilet design, which is really cool. However, they are modern toilets. There is even a double toilet for daughter and mother. Really funny. There is no Prosecco on the menu, but if you ask, they will allow you to do so.

We had lunch once in the summer on the beautiful terrace with an unforgettable panorama. The staff was simply great, it couldn't be better. With a full terrace our waiter always found time for us he made us laugh so much. We came again after Christmas and the Christmas lights are very beautiful, like in a fairy tale. The service was again absolutely top. We are already looking forward to the next time. I always take their unique spaetzli with my dish

Really worth a trip! Food is a premium price in Waldegg. Well furnished and there is also a playroom for the children, meals, and a large outdoor playground. Don't forget the petting zoo, so there's something for everyone. Visit to the bakery is also great and smell mmmmhhhh!!

Special, original, rustic restaurant with charm and very nice staff. The Schnuggebock is a rustic restaurant from grandmother's times. You sit in the room or in the stable and you can even eat your dinner at Magt's Kämmerli. A special experience....😃👍

Cool 'dive-back' in the time tunnel after 1945-1955. The school lesson was a lot of fun - and the social gathering while eating was very relaxing!

We, the Olten traditional costume group, traveled here to eat and walk around. I really enjoyed it and was also very impressed by the animals.

Haha what a awesome experience! We had diner in the style of late 1800. 1 plate full of food in the middle of the table, and serve yourself. Also a neat thunderstorm (sound and light effects) made a electricity blackout possible. Haha. One word. Awesome!

From hearty meat dishes to delicious vegetarian options, there is something for every taste. The service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere in the restaurant was cozy and inviting. Here you can get traditional cuisine at the highest level.

Always an interesting place. Grandmother's food was very good. The thunderstorm and the entertainment at its best. Pay like in the old days with cash.

Had a lovely evening celebrating mother's birthday

You simply have to see and experience it. A bit of nostalgia with a dash of museum and farm life from grandmother's times is worth a visit to the Schnuggebock. Authentically furnished. Originally presented from a bygone era. Service like from the 40s and back. “In terms of work” it’s like being at home at the lunch table back in the day. Food = top. No squishy. No 5 course menu with exotic snacks. No fine porcelain decorated with a gold rim. Quite simply, from the time when many people were still allowed to be children without cell phones and PCs, but with board games and Jass cards. One can only hope that this beautiful place is not overrun by tourism... but unfortunately that is already the case.

High level, great food, lovely staff

Fantastic food, with great attention to detail. No matter whether vegetarian or with meat. Service was great. Sufficient parking spaces available. Be sure to reserve a table in advance on weekends.

You have to experience it. The view is breathtaking. Playground and petting zoo for the little ones. Had dessert, super delicious. If you want, you can also go for a walk in the forest. A very big compliment goes to the waitress Barbara W. Even special requests were served to our complete satisfaction 👏

We were there with a photography club for the Max Bünzli Comedy Dinner. It was super fun and the food was delicious!

Wonderful excursion destination, courteous staff and unique views over the Appenzellerland towards Säntis. In terms of price, it's more in the upper segment.

The theme "at Grandmother's" is carried through... on the one hand it's great with good food and drinks, but the fact that payments are only made in cash or invoice is, in my opinion, a little too faithful to the theme.

It's a very beautiful place. It's real Swiss traditional style and not only a restaurant. It's a museum too. You can see exposition about farming and the nature is breathtaking.

We're after a wonderful day of flight with the retired people back to Interlake. Everything is great from Eu - from the welcome, to the meal, to the farewell - that couldn't make it any better! And then the birthday present for the little woman: simply awesome!! Thank you very much for everything. Even though I'm 6 years old and lives in Spicher, I've never lived in the Schnuggebock gsii. Fine food, fair prices, wonderful views of the Alpsteinberg massif

Ambiance is very nice, also suitable for children, there is a lot to discover on the terrace, with a unique view. Too few staff for Wednesday NM and we had to wait a long time until we were served. Staff should be trained in communication, because the guest does not have to know that there are not enough staff present. Food: I had a fitness plate which was good but I was missing that certain something...

This nostalgic Swiss farm restaurant located inside a folk museum is an excellent choice if you want to experience the special dining of the Swiss mountain people decades ago (perhaps a hundred years ago). The restaurant is located inside a folk museum which is situated on a small hill with a panoramic view to the surrounding mountains. The restaurant paid a lot of attention to not only the menu but also every single detail of the interior. We really seem to take a time machine back to decades ago. It is however a small pity that you must pay by cash. The "grandma accepts cash only" excuse sounds like a stereotype towards the elder generation rather than a unique experience.

I celebrated my birthday at the Schnuggebock in March and am more than satisfied. The service was great! The location was perfect and pretty much impressed all guests very positively. From the little ones to the big ones, there is something for everyone. Both to admire and to eat. The portions were also very generous and the price/performance ratio was very fair. The location is highly recommended for occasions as well as for a short visit. I'd be happy to come back at any time.

There's not much to say. Every time it's worth a trip and an experience for the heart and palate. Baking Biberli was also a highlight. Many thanks to master baker Christian and Andrea, who accompanied us in the bakery. We'd love to come back ❤️

A jump into the past. Ingenious concept where you will enter a now forgotten environment. Traditional peasant cuisine with tasty and plentiful dishes. In a unique environment. The school classroom and the small museum which collects objects from the past are lovely. Always pleasant... recommended

There is (almost) nothing more beautiful...

Urchig is the right word for this economy! The terrace is self-service and the food is more convenience food. But inside it's great, in the restaurant and especially at the themed events that the Schnuggebock offers!

Fantastic experience overall, but charging 9,50 Swiss Francs (10€!) for EACH carafe of tap water (about one liter or so) is a complete rip off.
