Shaka Beach in Gambarogno

Actually a very nice place. Right on the lake, great loungers... but it's the details that are so annoying! The seats below are partly dirty and soaked. Then, despite few visitors, the service was understaffed. We always waited a long time and were only told after 20 minutes that the kitchen was closed. But the waiter didn't mention that there was ice cream and we had to find out for ourselves. There were only a few of the ice creams mentioned and no whipped cream at all. Then the prices are absolutely horrendous, even for Switzerland and a tourist resort. Homemade iced tea was okay, Maretto Sour very good. But 35 francs for such poor service and a few things just don't work. And last but not least, the loud music was annoying and we had to wait another 20 minutes (!) until we could pay. 2.5 points

Very relaxing, well looked after

Nice location on Vira beach to chill and hang out. The beach is quite rocky at this point and there is only a little lawn to lie on. Therefore, bathing shoes make sense. There is a water swing (if the water is high enough) and a platform in the lake to jump off from. There is small food such as burgers right at Shaka. Drinks, beer wine cocktail. Every now and then, club music plays to chill out. The sanitary facilities are clean. You can certainly visit.

We love this place! In addition to the excellent (healthy fast food) food, cool drinks, beautiful surfer-style decoration, there is direct access to the lake and a great swing from “Swing the world”. Unfortunately it is not a sandy beach, but a rocky beach, so be sure to pack swimming shoes or sandals. We will be back!

Landed here by chance. The location is unique, the furnishings are discreet, loving and cozy. The staff is super-friendly, multilingual and the food (cheesburgers) is surprisingly tasty since the kitchen is very small. Customers are diverse, everyone is welcome here. The Shaka Beach is a really beautiful location with Caribbean charm, a little gem that is unique and certainly a plus point for Vira. About three years ago we rediscovered Ticino and go to Vira twice a year for two weeks and, weather permitting, we usually go to Shaka Beach once a day. The staff is very friendly and attentive, and they also offer you a delicious snack every now and then. The dishes are really very fine, of high quality and are freshly prepared. The prices are generally OK, I only have a problem with the Appenzeller beer, but this is a matter of taste. The menu, however, should be written in another language, as at least half of the guests do not come from Italian-speaking countries. It's clearly not a must, but it would be a nice gesture from the host. Why do I only give four stars despite the very good reviews? Quite simply, I think it's a shame that the boss or managing director only greets the local guests and has a chat with them. We were there very often and, like other non-locals, were not greeted once, which is a bit noticeable. But it's not relevant for us, we'll happily go to Shaka Beach again in the future.
