Great location but they didn’t handle the bed bugs situation well. This is why I’m posting the picture I took, my bites, and the email I received from the hotel. You may tell me you didn’t find anymore but you gotta admit, that picture of the bug I found in my bed looks like a bed bug.

I stayed at Shangri-La The Shard for the breathtaking view, which was truly remarkable. The concierge team was exceptional, providing top-notch service. However, I found the drinks to be a bit watered down. The Maître D seemed a bit self-absorbed, with a touch of RuPaul Queen charm. On the other hand, the waiters and housekeeping staff were fantastic, delivering excellent service. The breakfast and lunch prepared by the chef were disappointingly lacking in quality and passion. Despite this, the front desk staff and managers were outstanding, going above and beyond to ensure my stay was enjoyable. I personally prefer a more low-key dining experience without drama queens in the kitchen. The afternoon tea was exceptional, on par with the best I've had. The selection of teas was extensive and truly impressive.

Before arrival, we received multiple emails from multiple people asking us different questions, it felt very unorganised. On the day, we arrived at 2pm (as we’d communicated we would in advance) and were told the room wasn’t ready and we would be called when it was. We were not offered use of facilities whilst waiting. Disappointingly, we were asked at check-in why we were staying - we’d communicated in advance about our anniversary so I would have expected the check-in person to be aware. Unfortunately, we never received a call to say our room was ready. At 4pm we returned and collected the keys - we never received an apology for lack of call and on collecting keys, we had to ask for information on services available as we weren’t given any willingly. Our luggage, as we’d arrived early we left our luggage and were told it would be placed in our room ready for us, it wasn’t. We had to have two calls and it took approx 30 mins before it arrived. Our room - obviously views are amazing. However, why face the sofa and/or bed away from the views?! The reason everyone stays is for the views, not being able to comfortably sit and watch seems silly. Seating generally - no where comfortable to eat room service (hence we didn’t order any although we wanted to). Room amenities - for such a hotel, you don’t offer anything for free except one bottle of water and some tea/coffee. Not even fresh milk. Two cups one saucer, just basic. Nothing in our room to acknowledge our anniversary on arrival. No usb plugs. Basic and poor tv channels. Room turn down - we were not informed or asked if we wanted this. Super shocked to find it had been done and that when we returned after dinner someone had entered our room without our permission. At this point we did receive a surprise chocolate and card for our anniversary (which was a nice gesture) but felt a bit late as we weren’t back until after 10pm! Amenities - gym equipment is basic and disappointing. No music in the room and the headphones don’t work, the room also small. Pool was lovely. No idea if any treatments were available as these weren’t communicated. Food/drinks - we’d prebooked Gong but on arrival we’re weren’t treated like hotel guests. I’d expect for them to be aware we were staying (and where) and seat us on a different side to our room (so we could experience a different view). I’d also expect them to know about our anniversary and not to be told you only have the table to 1.5 hours on arrival. Felt like we’re we’re on a countdown from the word go. Service was poor, struggled to get the waiters attention and he gave us wrong drinks. Not great. Breakfast - annoying that we’re went offered this in advance through all the communications but luckily we’d booked. A big deal was made about us having to pay for our it, not sure why, we already knew. Plus a big deal was made about hurrying us along. We were there only 40 mins max and had the server asking if we wanted anything more to drink abs bringing a bill to sign (which we hadn’t requested) all at the same time. I don’t expect a bill until I request one. Hotel lifts - why oh why do you not have guest only lifts and more lifts?! To get out of the hotel it takes two lifts which you have to share with visitors to restaurants/bars. Really disappointing and it takes so long. Guests should have separate lifts. To checkout we waited 10 minutes for two packed lifts which we couldn’t get in so then took the service elevator with some random kids who were also waiting. Not sure what was going on. Shocking the lack of lifts. And also shocking we don’t have the option to walk down from our rooms to reception. Checkout - why no express option so we could avoid queuing and reception altogether? We requested our receipt to be emailed, still waiting for the bill. Overall - you have amazing views but where is the polished 5 star experience? It does not match up to other hotels in London. It did not feel amazing, we did not feel special. Actually left stressed and disappointed.

I was there to propose to my girlfriend and nothing could have put a dampener on the experience but i was left a little disappointed in the customer service that i received. Firstly, we had to wait for an hour for our bags to be sent up to our room - had we known this, we would have just carried them ourselves as we wanted to explore the hotel. Secondly, i called to ask about the pool and was told to go right away as there was space. I arrived at the pool and was met with sorry, we are full... surely there is a better system than this when you're getting changed into your robes and walking through the hotel. Finally, when i checked in, i was told that my breakfast would be served between 7-11 and when i got there, a big deal was made out of the fact that my room didn't include breakfast, which was never made clear, even when i booked the table. The views and the rooms do make up for some very average customer service, mind. What should be a 5 star experience is certainly let down by some of the staff.

We had an excellent stay, great service (especially from Kimberley at front desk), room and hotel facilities were clean and well presented. We had an issue with the use of the pool and spa area which could have been better controlled, took 3 days to get in!!! Only slight disappointment was with the quality of the food, it was good but we were expecting excellent, did not live up to our expectations, considering the venue.

A disappointing stay unfortunately, especially since we had booked Shangri-la as a lockdown mini-moon to celebrate our wedding. All of our room service food orders were wrong, the Suite Pad was broken, lighting in the room was broken and needed an engineer who was unable to fix it, there was no toilet roll in the bathroom and we were met by rather cold and unhelpful check in staff. Our stay was saved by the incredible views over London, the one thing the hotel had nothing to do with. While I realise one comes to a hotel like this primarily for the views, I don’t think it’s too much to ask for things to actually work in the room and for there to paper if a number two is needed. Luckily my fiancé and I have a solid British sense of humour or we could have felt the need to jump off those beautiful views.

7 star customer service! We have stayed at this hotel many times in the past, but the reason for our continued return in the past 18 months is not only because of the obviously nice decor and architecture, the views and the fantastic facilities, but rather because of the outstanding customer service we keep receiving! From the moment of check-in with Franziska at the front desk, to the breakfast service by Julian, the room set-up with personal touches by Alan to the morning greetings by the hotel general manager himself, everything was managed to perfection. Nothing is left to chance and the attention to detail of this hotel's staff members is second to none. Our stay at the Shangri-La London cannot be compared to the ones we had 5 years ago, or to any of the other five star hotels we have stayed with nationally and internationally. We'd like to say a special thanks to Kurt, Alan and all the team members that have helped us feeling like Kings and Queens for these few short days, we will be returning very soon! Thumbs up!!

The system letting people into the pool was poor. Guests waiting inline very close to each other (ref COVID 19). I suggest entry is controlled before guests arrive at the pool or have a booking system. Overall our stay was great. The 5 course Asian menu with wine was excellent. The sommelier was top class. Definitely recommend but it isn't a Four Seasons!

I was very disappointed with the check-in process. It was badly disorganised. We were told we would be given priority for our room but it wasn't ready at 4pm. We had to wait around for 2hours before being able to go to our room and by then the spa was closed. We had arrived hoping to use the spa in the afternoon. We tried to go the next morning but it was full and children's swim. We had to go back to our room to wait for a call. When we returned to the spa, it was so noisy with children, we couldn't stay long. The lifts in the hotel took forever each time aswell. The reception area is not very clear as to which desk to stand out so it was a free for all. We had come to stay at the hotel to celebrate my partner's 50th but we were very disappointed by our experience. I can highly thank Kimberly on Reception who kindly gave us an extended checkout time. However, we couldn't use the spa due to noisy children. It wasn't the relaxing escape we had hoped for and overall very disappointed.

Hi, I realise that running a destination hotel on the first decent weekend of the year, on a bank holiday, just after lockdown eased, is complex. The following comments are given in the spirit of informing The Shard Management so that constructive training or process improvements can be implemented. On check-in it appeared that the set up of our room had been rushed; - There was rubbish in the disposal bin - There was only one room gown - There was blutack stuck to the bedhead - There was no laundry bag - This was, as requested, a 'disabled' room, yet there was no seating in the shower area and I did not discover how to lower the bathroom support rails to actually provide stability support. The last was particularly important to me as I don't want to be made to feel more disabled than I am - particularly in front of a new girlfriend. Having to ask room service for a stool to be provided kinda calls attention to the fact that my legs are weak. Overall, however, our stay was very enjoyable and please express my thanks to the staff who could not have been more helpful in resolving our issues and making the stay a very pleasant one. Our visit to this hotel was rather disappointing overall. I had originally booked 2 rooms plus a suite at the Savoy hotel to celebrate my eldest daughter’s recent engagement, but cancelled and booked similar accommodation at the Shangri La, having watched a TV programme about the hotel. The impression given in the programme was of extremely high standards and attention to detail, plus a very individual approach to all of its guests, such as including personalised greetings to the guests, written on the windows of the rooms, which I did find rather a charming and an unusual touch. However, our experience was really rather different. Despite my notifying the hotel of my daughter’s engagement, there was no such greetings in her room, (and certainly nothing in my and my other daughter’s!). I also discovered that the hot water tap was faulty in one of the sinks in my suite and when I spoke to the engineer who fixed it, the impression I got was that it had been defective for some time. So our room was obviously not subject to the meticulous checks that the TV programme suggested were customary! The main attraction of staying at the Shard is obviously the great views of the London that it affords, but it was basically impossible to gain admittance to any of the bars, restaurants and lounges in the hotel, unless one had pre-booked. This was very disappointing, because it appeared that no priority at all was given to hotel residents, versus casual visitors. This policy contrasts greatly with our experience when we stayed at the Marina Bay Sands hotel in Singapore, which is a similarly iconic hotel, but which does look after its guests rather better! Lastly, I think the published check-in time of 4pm and check out time of 11.00am are ridiculously restrictive. I have honestly never been to a hotel anywhere in the world that was as restrictive as this, never mind one that bills itself as a luxury one! Overall, a very disappointing experience and to my mind, not of the standard I expect from Shangri La hotels (nor, for that matter, and luxury hotel). I expected perfection for myself and my family and although the staff obviously tried hard and were pleasant enough, the hotel fell far short of my expectations and I’m afraid we will not be back.

Stunning views from our room, great food & fantastic service. However, when you are paying ~£2k for a 2 night stay, you do expect perfection, which we did not get. There was a tear in the headboard on the bed, there was a brown water stain on one of the cream lampshades, there were greasy finger marks on the wardrobe doors and the light on the make-up mirror didn't work. We did report these to reception. We did therefore feel a little disappointed given the calibre of this hotel.

After travelling for 3 hours from the Midlands we arrived at 4.20pm only to be told that our suite was not ready. As a gesture of goodwill we were given 4 fast track tickets to the view at the shard while our room was prepared. Tired and exhausted we made our way downstairs to the shard only after queueing to be told there was no availibility. We were staying in the Shangri La to celebrate my 50th Birthday and being able to travel as I had spent over a year shielding. On arrival back in reception we were told the suite was still not ready, it was now 5pm. My husband was very annoyed and asked for the manager, the chap on check in came back and said the Manager has offered you afternoon tea. We were tired and needed to freshen up and the last thing we wanted was afternoon tea. My husband became very annoyed and insisted the Manager come and speak with us. After a 10 minute wait the Manager arrived. She was very apolagetic but as we stressed to her we were paying so much money for the suite and would still have to check out at 11.00am the following morning, it is disgraceful service it really is. We were taken into a restaurant and given a complimentary drink 1 hour after our initial arrival. By this time my special celebration was ruined, absolutely ruined!!! After 10 minutes the Manager came to our table to announce our room was ready, it was around 5.30pm. We queued for ages to get in the lift as unfortunately there are only 2 lifts to serve hotel guests. The suite was lovely and happy birthday balloons and a cake along with complimentary champagne had been left for us, but unfortunately the trip had been ruined. To be honest we felt like going home but we stayed to enjoy a pre booked meal in Borough Market. The following morning we left our room at 9.50am to head down for breakfast we queued again for the lift and queued again for breakfast, eventually we were seated and enjoyed our breakfast. We queued for the lift again and fetched our luggage from the room. Queuing for the lift again we headed for reception to check out. My husband had called the valet service from our room for them to fetch our car. When we arrived downstairs at the hotel entrance we stood and waited for 10 minutes before the concierge asked if we were ok. We told him we had called down for our car 35 minutes ago and yet again we were told that no one had fetched the car but they would send someone immediately. I can honestly say our stay at the Shangri La was awful and I will strongly advise people not to book and stay there. Now I want to know what the hotel are going to do to compensate us!!!

You cant actually get into the pool due to a limit of 20 people at any time ( they dont tell you this until you get to the door of the pool). At dinner in Gong you are constantly reminded of how much time you have left (1hr 30 minutes) and rushed out regardless of whether you've finished eating .

We enjoyed our stay at the Shangri La Hotel - The Shard. However, there were a few things that we were very disappointed with. Firstly, When we arrived at Reception to check-in, my wife went to use the Hand Sanitiser. When she pressed down on the dispenser, sanitizer fluid shot out over her face and into her eye which caused her pain and soreness for the whole evening. Only when I requested, a staff member assisted my wife. At first, they did not seem concerned. First impressions were not great. Barely an apology was even given. Secondly, when we booked the Spa treatments, they were sold as being Spa Facilities. We found it very difficult to find the Spa Treatment Area. This was primarily because there are no Spa Facilities that you would normally find at a Spa Facility. We were shocked to eventually find that the massage treatment was in a hotel room with massage beds set up. We were also very displeased that the Masseuse was late. She arrived 20 minutes after our scheduled time of 17:00. During this time we had to awkwardly wait in the room where there are no chairs to relax. We also booked a 1-hour massage but found that the treatment ended after 50 minutes. For such an extravagant price, we would have expected the full hour and also the staff to turn up on time. Thirdly, In the evening, I tried to run a bath for my wife. however, the bath taps were not working. We called the service desk multiple times to report this. As a result, we ran out of time to use the bath. This was highly disappointing. Again, for such a high price on the room, we would have expected the Bath to be functional. The views were great but the Service overall was sometimes poor. Staff appeared to be overworked and less friendly than most hotels I have stayed in. Without the London views, I would lean towards a 3-star rating. On a positive note, The waiter at Tings, Francesco, was fantastic. He really made our stay more enjoyable. Following the day's events at the hotel, he really cheered us up. Also, the Crew at the Concierge was very helpful. Water bottles were offered due to the warm weather and the service there was exceptional. Overall, breathtaking views aside, too many situations resulted in disappointment with the Shangri La Hotel. I would have requested a refund on the Massages but we didn't want to spend our time complaining. We were only staying for one evening and didn't want to let this ruin our time.

The Shard looks impressive; at the Hotel you know you are bound to get great service and of course a wonderful view, but you also get a sense of belonging and warmth. There will be many travelers who are used to 5 star luxury, and who will expect and are used to 5 star service, and they will get this. Some will have transactional business stays and will get impeccable service and their needs attended to. However, for some of us the experience is one that takes a long time to save for and therefore we have high hopes (literally) and expectations but we do not really know what we are going to get..... From the moment I contacted the team at the Shangri La, I was treated like a human and not like a transaction. Kurt, the General Manager was wonderful and then I dealt with Noemie who could not have been any friendlier or helpful. They knew this stay was for a special treat for my daughters 11th birthday. She had seen the Hotel featured on a documentary and said "I would love to stay there, it would be my dream". Well the team at The Shangri La made her dream come true and gave us the most memorable, magical , warm stay ever. From going through the revolving doors at the bottom, we were greeted like old friends. They understood our need to take 1000 photos! We headed up to reception to be greeted by wonderful theming - a picnic in the clouds. Another 1000 photos were taken and the team were so accommodating and understanding that for us, this trip was once in a lifetime. Tyrone at the front desk treated my daughter like a princess. She was so happy and children can spot a fake from a mile off. He showed her round and spoke to her so kindly that she really felt like a VIP. She said how kind everyone was. We had the most amazing room and her breath was taken away when we got to our room and written on the window was Happy Birthday. There was also a special treat which was not expected but very much appreciated. it just made her feel so special. The pool was amazing, the room service was fantastic, the view was out of this world, the facilities were 5 star. However, what made this Hotel so special was the people who work there. They made us feel like friends and like we belonged. We were made so welcome and I cannot thank you enough. This gushy review doesn't even do justice to how wonderful you all are. The Shard is like a shard of glass but within the Hotel there is real heart and warmth. Thank you for making our once in a lifetime experience so wonderful and memorable and above all human !!!!

Having informed the hotel of our arrival time, we did not appreciate having to wait 1 hour and 45 minutes for our room to be ready. The Nespresso machine in the room was a nice touch - but only 3 capsules was rather stingy. Many guests did not wear masks around the hotel and no-one said anything to them. However, the views from the bedroom were spectacular - such a shame the viewing guide provided didn't cover the views from our side of the hotel! Someone came to clean our room ready for our arrival just as we had settled in - rather disturbing as we had assumed it had been cleaned.

We booked a Premier City View room and were located in a corner room with a view of Tower Bridge & The City *This may have been an upgrade to an Iconic View room, but we are not sure, all we were told was that we would not be disappointed with the view and we were not. The staffs, at every point of contact, were excellent in every respect. The main reception is on 35th floor and our room was a very good size located on the 44th floor (*the rooms get smaller the higher you are) The bathroom was very spacious and faced the city and the room itself had a view of Tower Bridge and Canary Wharf. We visited the swimming pool on the 52nd floor and had a lovely early morning swim with more panoramic views across the city. There are seating and lounge areas there with complementary refreshments. It's not a huge area so it may get busy later in the day. The hotel is located near London Bridge so The South Bank / Borough Market are within walking distance and the tube is very close for access to the rest of London.

Alongside the stunning rooms with the incredible views, the hospitality and the venues on site such as GONG Bar and TING are absolutely amazing. We stayed at the Southwark Suite for a night and the experience was below expectations. The view of suite was incredible. The welcome treats were tasty. The size of the suite was decent. And it seems the good things about our stay is about it. We went to Shangri-la in Hong Kong, Singapore, Paris, Oman and Colombo, the service was always excellent. We are surprised that the service of such an iconic hotel of Shangri-la is disappointing. The lack of communication between the staffs caused so much inconvenience and unpleasant experience to us: - Staffs in the restaurant claimed that breakfast was not included in the our room rudely until we proved that we are the Jade member and breakfast should be included. - I needed to do a back and forth calls to ask for the complimentary champagne and explained to the staffs that it’s included in the signature suite. Thus, we only got it one hour before check out. - There was nothing special about having a butler or not. There was not direct line to the butler and no one greeted us as a butler when we arrived. The food is pretty average, nothing worth mentioning. Swimming pool is small. There is no jacuzzi. Sauna is not hot enough. All in all, there is nothing special about this hotel other than the view. I am not sure if we are going to stay at this hotel again.

We booked this hotel for our anniversary due to not being able to travel because of covid. After seeing the room its clear you're paying for the name and location as this is was far away from a five experience. The view from the room was nice, we oversaw tower bridge and the railway tracks so not totally spectacular. The decor was tired and dated basically no different to a travel lodge. Food at the ting was OK nothing exceptional. I was very underwhelmed by the whole experience and felt inclined to complain about the room but my husband decided we should make the best of it. The TV was basic free view and kept switching on the hour throughout the night. Bedlinen had marks on it (unfortunately I didn't take a photo) we had a dirty towel in the bathroom order more towel and got yet another dirty on in the new bundle. There was mould at the window near the bath. I was told when we book, we ould get luxurious bath experience and to call reception when we were ready to away the bath, upon doing so we gor the same mini shampoo bottles and shower gels already provided in the room. We ordered breakfast to the room, which was cold on arrival butter was rock solid and the toast was freezing cold, the sausages we delicious. We didn't even bother trying the pool or sauna, as we figure it would have been the same underwhelming experience. For near 700 per night I wouldn't recommend nicer hotels for a 3rd of the price with views of London.

Where do I start. Stayed in a superior king size room. The whole experience was fantastic. Went out on Friday night, pouring with rain and forgot umbrella, concierge desk supplied one. When we entered our room the automatic blinds opened to reveal London for miles and miles (our room was on the 47th floor). The room was spacious and well equipped. The bathroom was stunning, a bath and walk in shower along with a heated toilet seat complete with built in electric b-day. Customer relations were second to none and the restaurant on the 35th floor was excellent. The staff offered to turn down the bed and everyone were friendly and always said hello with a smile on their face. The hotel was very COVID safe with clear signs and hand sanitizers. Will recommend this hotel and would love to go back for another stay

This was a surprise for my husband. We had a one night stay with bed breakfast and additional dinner at Ting in the evening. The booking could have been smoother as I tried calling several times before I managed to secure a booking. However they certainly redeemed themselves after this , the service is impeccable. I made a few requests about the room requirements and window seating during breakfast and dinner and every single one was fulfilled. We had a top up of water at no extra cost and also complimentary sweets. The plus point of our visit : 1. Service - all requests fulfilled , very welcoming and friendly right down to the doorman. 2. Breakfast was very good ! A lot of options and nothing looked cheap. 3. The premium washlet and the free standing bath tub with a view. 4. Rooms were elegantly decorated. We had one of the smallest rooms on our floor but yet it is bigger than your average room in other hotels we have stayed at. 5. Starts and desert at the Ting was lovely. 6. The view is remarkable even on a rainy/cloudy day, the night view was worth it 7. Toiletries in the bathroom 8. Binoculars provided 9. Stepane at the Ting was very welcoming and helpful Could improve : 1. The main dish at the Ting was not to my liking 2. The mocktail wasnt anything special and was pricey 3. I believe we were charged extra for tea and drinks during breakfast even though breakfast was included in our booking 😳 4. Perhaps the main improvement- it was a bit cold in the room even though the temperature was set at 27 degrees it didn't feel warm at all. Felt like a draft coming from somewhere. The bathroom floor was meant to be heated aswel and I didnt feel this at all even when I changed the temperature in the bathroom.

The most awesome hotel I have ever been to. The staff were excellent the whole time and we were able to book the restaurant and bar with constant amazing views. Marie and the sommelier (i can't remember his name but it began with an N) a dinner were great.
