A little noisy but very good food and service. To recommend

I have come to this restaurant several times but was very disappointed on my last visit. I had a chicken thali. The dish was barely hot and quite bland, I didn't feel the spices, the particular flavors of India... Really very little taste and dry chicken, the sauce that accompanied it was floury and bland. On the other hand, generous portions and pleasant service. It was very cold in the restaurant, lots of drafts

Very good dishes, and very generous. The vegan offering is clearly indicated and allows you to taste several dishes on the same plate, and what's more, it's delicious.

Great service and delicious food (butter chicken just the best!!! We also tried and loved vegetarian samosas and lunch of the day with chicken). We will definitely come back!

Very good Indian, the naan is delicious and the prices are fair. I just find it a shame that we can't choose if we want our dish spicy or not.

Lighting way too bright! Dim it!

An incredible place! Having never eaten Indian, I really wanted to taste the dishes the way they eat them at home, very spicy (I didn't want to eat "Lausanne Indian" 😅). I obviously told the waiter before ordering. We had starters, main courses and desserts. With the starters, the waiter brought me a small bowl, with a very red "house sauce". I quickly understood why it was red... I started slowly, just to let my taste buds get used to it. An incredible spicy sauce, it went wonderfully with the starters! The waiter also told me that they used house spices for my main course. It was super good and very spicy! I loved ! We had Naan as a side dish, a type of flatbread. The plain Naan was good, but then the butter Naan... 😱 I hesitated to ask them to make it for me to take away! Just incredible!! I ended up spreading them with what I had left in my little bowl of homemade sauce, I'm salivating just thinking about it. For dessert, a sweet and creamy mango cream... 😋 I accompanied my meal with an Indian beer, which I found very sweet, almost a little too much. The dishes were generous, the waiters very friendly and the restaurant is very pretty. It's better to plan a good budget to treat yourself, but it's well worth it! I will return there with great pleasure!

Service, impeccable and personal, very pleasant. We ate very, very well and in terms of price and quality, it was top notch. All that is missing is a little organization in the room to improve the flow of dishes to avoid waiting.

Good restaurant offering varied and well prepared dishes. I recommend the calamari as a starter to share. They give a good portion. On the other hand, for 12,-, you will only have 2 samosas. Be careful with the chef's specialty: beef with red curry, it is very very spicy. In terms of service and surroundings, we found that it was a little slow and quite noisy.

Restaurant discovered thanks to friends, we ate there on a Saturday evening. It is located a few minutes walk from Lausanne train station. Remember to reserve your table because the restaurant was full. The quantities served are very generous, many people take away what they did not manage to finish in a doggy bag that the waiters carefully prepare for you. In terms of service, there were several waiters, two very friendly and smiling, unfortunately one of the waitresses was very "direct" and not at all warm. It's a shame because her colleagues were friendly and she somewhat lowered the image of the service provided by her colleagues. Among other things, she handed us (not to say tossed) our plate when she served us... I'm sure she can do better. Overall everything went very well, just this little downside with this waitress, but a very nice discovery.

The food is simply delicious in a very chilled & friendly environment! Could spice up more though to cater for the UK palate, cos a Chicken Jalfrezi has gotta be hot!... Highly recommended!

Quite friendly staff. the gentleman on the other hand didn't say hello to us and asked us what we wanted to eat. Small downside when we ordered a mixture of lentils in fact we only received a plate of yellow peas. The two samosas as starters were good, not too fatty, quite fine in the mouth. They also gave a starter of some sort of Indian chips with chutney, which was also good and nice attention. The yogurt with carrots and cucumbers was good, not incredible, but you can't make something incredible with three ingredients, I think. And the lamb with deviled red curry was indeed very spicy but very good, the nan breads were a little flat compared to what we usually see but was tasty. Nice atmosphere with a little Indian music in the background. They seemed a little in a hurry to tidy up but we can understand that too. The lemongrass teas were good. Good value for money.

There are many so called Indian restaurants in Lausanne but frankly non is Indian. Shanti is an authentic Indian Restaurant where good food is served in Indian way. Delicious food, good n talkative staff, serve you with smile despite being very busy. Pls book two days in advance if you are visiting during Weekends, it’s almost impossible otherwise. I really though appreciate the efforts of staff who accommodated us on weekend when we didn’t find any good restaurants around. Thank you so much. They also have take away facilities. All the curries are served with rice (2 options) Location is excellent, Food spice levels are made as per your preference. Love you Manjeet..😘

The food was delicious, there are non spicy and very spicy dishes on the menu to accommodate for everyone's taste. Lots of vegetarian options. The service is excellent, friendly and efficient. We will certainly come back.

Great meal (again). The children love to come to eat the dosa and drink the Lassi... And we to taste less usual cuisine in the Indian restaurants of the region.

The welcome was very pleasant, the staff all came to us straight away. The starters are very good but maybe a bit of a wait. Concerning the dishes they are full of flavors and very well served In short, a very good address, I highly recommend!

My family and I wanted to eat at their place for the first time. We arrived at 6 p.m. although the restaurant opens at 6:30 p.m. We met one of the waiters who told us that we could come in 15 minutes before opening. Which we did, but a waitress told us to wait until 6:30 p.m., which we found strange because we saw a family already seated and being served. We still waited in the car. Then another family came home, it was 6:20 p.m. and they started serving them. So my mother went to see the waitress for explanations. Why can't we go back like the others? Why do WE have to wait until 6:30 p.m. The answer we got was “it’s our family.” We felt discriminated against because we are not from the same continent. Very unfortunate, you apparently have to come from Asia to eat there. Not to mention that they wanted to put us in the very back seats while the seats in front were very free. We do not recommend and will not return.

Hands down the best Indian I’ve had in Switzerland. Nice and spicy like the British version. Was given a pre taster for spice levels before hand. Customer service was amazing and can’t wait to come back.

The staff is extremely disrespectful, rude and arrogant.

Me and my wife went to the restaurant (without reservation) around 1845. My wife was pregnant (around 8 months). We asked for a place, they told that they are full tonight. As, at that moment there were very few people so we kindly asked if they can accommodate us and we plan to eat quicky. They said very arrogantly that come after 2130 (or wait until 2130) as they will be free and then we can have food then. The way they said really shocked me. On that, I said that we will not wait for 2.5 hours only to eat at your restaurant. On that, they said go wherever you want. They could have easily said NO to us in a polite way but I really felt that the staff was very arrogant and highly disrespectful. But thanks to them, on that day, we tried for the first time another Indian restaurant (Nandanam) nearby. I wish all the best to the staff and the restaurant. PS: We live in Lausanne since 14 years and often eat in Indian Restaurants in Lausanne area (Indian Zayeka, Royale India, Laxmi, Maharaja, New Delhi, Chandigarh Tandoori and others...)

1st time at Shanti, mixed experience but not disappointing! Good food, as a starter Samousa well served and Korma shrimp, I didn't really "find" the cashew nut. Very very long service, little or no waiter, too bad!

Food was good .Not out of the box though and the waitress is rude and doesn't know how to speak.There is a clear cut difference between the way people speak in different restaurants.Personally speaking I won't recommend anyone anytime.I will give them few good pointers for food however for hospitality ,they have stopped lower than the worse.

I went to Shanti with my husband, who is very reluctant towards Indian cuisine because he has difficulty digesting it. So it's the best Indian restaurant in all of Lausanne (and I haven't tried many because I love Indian cuisine). Aside from the elegant and refined beauty of the premises and the kindness of the staff, the presentation of the plates and the freshness of the products have no competitors! Generous portions.....we had grilled squid, samosas, a vegetarian thali, shrimp curry and garlic naan. Absolutely divine and what's more, no digestion problems for my husband...so it went great. He loved it. Thank you, we will definitely return.

Ambience is great, staff is super friendly (really lovely people). The location is great. The food is well cooked and savory. The problem relies (for me) on 2 things: too much carbohydrates (a lot of potatoes in Samosas, sugar in Nan) and the portions are not that generous. The lamb dish I order contained only 5 little pieces but there was a lot of sauce. Delicious sauce but.. not that much meat. Overall good but could be better.

Hands down the WORST Indian food I have ever eaten (except for the mango lassi which was excellent)! And before you read this review, please note that I lived in southeast Asia for over 15 years and have been to India many times, so I have eaten a lot of Indian food before this experience. Today I had the vegetarian baingan bharta lunch set menu. First, the baingan bharta was unrecognisable- the eggplant was so mushy and the dish lacked flavour or rich body as it should: it was slop with curry powder. There was a watered cabbage dish with no flavour and the raita was the consistency of watered down yoghurt. The dhal was equally bad and lacked flavour, but I ate it as I was so hungry. I am now in bed with such a horrible upset stomach thanks to this meal. Positive comments: my son had the tikka masala and loved it; the service was excellent and friendly and the restaurant is decorated lovely and super clean. And as I said earlier, the mango lassi was very good!

Very good restaurant with impeccable service. The staff is extremely kind and naturally caring. Without doubt the nicest waiters in Lausanne =) The setting is pretty, modern, really clean, very bright and cozy. We also eat very well (large portions) and we are served papadams before the meal, really nice. The gentle and positive atmosphere immerses us in moments of pure relaxation. We spent a very nice evening there, we recommend!

As a food critic (critic of my cooking included) and Indian from the food capital of India I can say this is the best Indian restaurant I have ever been to in Switzerland. Just order anything on the menu and you will love it. Only one improvement for Shanti please deliver your amazing naans in take away as well as the naans served when we dine in were amazing but at home delivery has very dry bread.

Indian food is more delicious than I except. Environmental is comfortable and hygienic. Food and price are acceptable.
