We reserved a whole week in advance so that we would NOT get a place! No proper apology and immediately explained that it was the boss who didn't check the emails. It does not work!

Wow, for the price a super delicious breakfast, almost a meal of the day. Had the “rougher board”. Combination of cheese, scrambled eggs (with lemon and another great component - simply delicious), super delicious dip, fresh bread, confit, ... see menu ;-) Free tap water! Ambiance cozy. We made reservations and were happy because it was very well attended! Reservation quick and easy. Thanks for the great morning!!!

Simply brilliant and comfortable. I was invited to have brunch here as a birthday present. The food was very fine. The plate, or rather the board, was filled with various fine delicacies. The little pancakes are delicious. The ambience was simple, but that's what makes it so special. A very relaxed, cozy atmosphere. You almost don't want to leave here anymore. The staff is extremely friendly and customer-oriented. This is exactly what you want in every restaurant. Dear Smilla Café team, thank you very much for the wonderful time with you. I would be happy to come back and recommend you to others. It's worth making a reservation here for Saturday and Sunday. Especially on Sundays like ours it was full. Smilla means: No cake is no solution My motto in life: Just do it. So just go to the Smilla Café Parking spaces are located on the side streets. I recommend arriving by tram or bus. Food: cool selection, very tasty and fresh - rather expensive Service: depends a bit...usually very friendly, but not very fast...but it's probably just because there's a lot going on and not enough staff. The owner is always extremely friendly and passionate. Ambience: very nice and cozy inside! Chairs outside are very uncomfortable

I was a guest at Café Smilla and I can only recommend it. The service was excellent. The interior design looks very inviting and creates a very cozy and friendly atmosphere. The diverse and equally appealing selection on the menu is great. And definitely worth a visit. I will gladly come again!

I was in the wonderful cafe on a Saturday morning. The service was extremely friendly and attentive, every dish was excellent and the café exudes a loving and friendly atmosphere. We also enjoyed a sensational homemade cheesecake with a very good coffee. I'll definitely come back and highly recommend it!

I go for the cheese cake. I’m very picky about my cake & this cake is Seriously Spectacular. Coffee is good. Service is bad. I only go for the cheesecake. And it is worth going for. Update: I used to give this 5 stars for the cheesecake but the service has not gotten better, as one would expect it would with experience. Only go if you have a lot of patience and time to wait for the super slow service. The 3 stars is for the cool deco, locally owned & neighborhood vibe.

We went to Smilla for brunch on a Saturday. We had the smaller veggie brunch and one with meat - both were very tasty and filling. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, the atmosphere was very cozy. We'd love to come back.

It's a normal suburban café, the kind that are flourishing everywhere these days. The furnishings are inconspicuous and very simply put together, but that can also have charm. The staff is friendly, but probably doesn't come from the catering industry. The quiet music in the background is very pleasant. The prices already seem a bit excessive to me. E.g. a small Piece of cake CHF 6.50 (homemade style), which doesn't have to be the case. The really stylish Mercedes Café in the middle of the city and the Hotel Drei König with a view of the Rhine once had such prices. The Smilla is still a few meters away from such places and therefore a 5-star rating has not yet been given. I really enjoyed my visits to the location and the coffee tastes really great. There is certainly still room for improvement for the nice parlor café.

Cozy little café. The coffee is good and the food is simply amazing! The Müesli is outstanding and I also recommend the little pancakes, they are soo delicious. Everything I had so far was super delicious. Staff is very friendly and they also have a small selection of different goods to buy (glasses, vases, towels, sirups, small snacks).

The cafe is great. Croissants are always fresh and tasty. Breakfast is great. The service is very friendly. The quality is super! The work schedule is non-standard. The toilet is comfortable. A new favorite shop. Cozy, bright, tastefully decorated, prices and quality of the food go well together, the atmosphere is friendly and the coffee is great. Friendly menu, robust and healthy items that taste as if those who make them also enjoy eating well themselves. Also worth a detour. Go there.

In general, original dishes, good coffee. But above all you need time, a lot of time...everything is very friendly, but you get a rather amateurish impression of the whole thing...it's a shame, because the ambience is certainly there...

Really enjoyed the vibe and coffee at this cafe. For me, it’s worth a trip across Basel. But if going on a weekend when it’s cold you may want to reserve a table. I can’t wait to come back!

We had our Christmas dinner with the business at Smilla again this year. The food was prepared with great attention to detail. It was very versatile and extremely fine. We were able to enjoy a tavolata with many special dishes, the vegetarians were also well served! The wine selection also suited us very well. The ambience in Smilla is almost unbeatable and everything was beautifully presented. We will be back! :-) Thank you very much Georges and Andrea for the lovely evening!

Lovely place to have breakfast. Map provided and quality products. The mini pancakes, porridge and avocado toast are excellent. The chai latte too. Friendly waitresses and cozy decor. I highly recommend.

We were able to celebrate our Christmas party in Cafe Smilla with the best food. We were all thrilled by the friendliness and the loving preparation of our menu. The food was very varied and tasted excellent. Highly recommended. Many thanks again to the whole Cafe Smilla team.

Very pleasant cafe. The coffee is good, not great, but the food (avo mash, poached eggs...) was very tasty and the atmosphere very friendly. If it was in London or Montreal I’d give it four stars because I’d be able to get a better flat white (for less than 6.20) at an equally nice place. In Basel, however, it stands out as one of very few truly good cafes of this type. All in all I would say that even if you are in the city centre of Basel, it’s well worth taking the tram for 15 minutes to go to Smilla.
