Spaghetti Factory in Aarau

Unfortunately, the pasta arrabiata wasn't spicy at all and was pretty bland. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very nice and the service is courteous.

Still thinking about the fries with truffle mayonnaise, we specifically visited Spagi on Friday. Getting a warm meal in the afternoon is not a given. Top. Super friendly service. We were happy about the advice to share an appetizer; the salads were generous. The service staff could have been indifferent as to whether there were leftovers. Very attentive. The only thing was that the background music caused amazement 2.3 times... We would like to come again.

After the Caesar salad we didn't order the main course at all but left straight away and had food poisoning at home for several days 🫰

Unfortunately my visit to the restaurant was disappointing. I ordered beef fillet with spaghetti and was served lamb. When I pointed this out, the staff responded with the unexpected statement that they would never serve lamb. In addition, I found the price to be too high for what was offered, which clearly missed the price-performance ratio. This experience did not meet my expectations, especially in terms of service and quality.

A restaurant that doesn't serve tap water. Special. For me, the service concept is missing here. The seasonal salad is visually very beautiful. Unfortunately the goat cheese was missing from the winter salad. The beef tartare was very spicy, although ordered mild. The toast is a highlight: beautifully browned. Spaghetti okay. All in all ok, unfortunately nothing more.

The vegan volognese was very tasty. Unfortunately, the vegan grated cheese was missing and there was no plant drink for the coffee either.

Everything went well until the payment process and the food was delicious. We split the amount and I paid my 40 francs via Twint. Problems arose when entering the remaining amount and the young service person got help. In the end, the three of them stood at our table, solved the problem and my colleague paid the rest with a card. I was then accused of not having paid the 40 francs and had to open Twint. When I looked at the transactions, it showed me Spagi by Macello -40 francs. A green checkmark also appeared on my device during the payment process. The older lady on staff insisted that I open the details and it read: Pending - the payment will be processed by the merchant within a maximum of 7 days. This sentence, she explained to me, meant that it had not been paid. I had no chance with counterarguments. She stood firm and demanded that I pay the 40 francs again. She also offered to give me her phone number so that I could send her a screenshot as proof that it had been debited and she would refund the 40 francs. As I have now discovered, for security reasons it is not possible to create one on Twint. So I will probably no longer see the money I paid twice. The contact details of the service lady are probably incorrect. For me, the situation when paying was humiliating, cheeky and smacks of dubious business. If you visit, I recommend paying in cash.

The food used to be so good there. We came very often. Unfortunately, the food no longer tastes good. Spaghetti Calbanara so creamy. Cooking it yourself tastes better. We'll never come again.

Highly recommended if you are looking for pasta. Large selection, excellently prepared and very friendly staff. Even though my spaghetti was “burned” (for whatever reason) it still got full points. Recommended 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

As a couple and now also as a family, we have been going to Marcello's Spagi several times a month for about 15 years. It is a small, friendly restaurant with a very familiar and pleasant atmosphere. Even with our offspring, we were always warmly welcomed. The price is around 20-30 per person. There is a separate offer for children that costs around 12 p.p. is. We can only warmly recommend the restaurant, especially if you are traveling with children.

The spagi took my taste buds by storm! The fresh ingredients and the pasta cooked perfectly al dente exceeded my expectations. The diverse selection of sauces and toppings leaves nothing to be desired. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff ensure that every visit is a culinary delight. I can fully recommend this restaurant and am already looking forward to my next visit!"

I went to the jazz concert, very good. I can't judge food.

The food is okay and some of the employees make an effort to deal with the customers - but I wouldn't describe this restaurant as really customer-friendly. We had a business lunch there and consumed a lot. The portions aren't exactly small and so some team members wanted to order the smaller (cheaper) portion. We were advised against this because you could easily take the leftovers with you. So we followed the staff's advice. Only when we asked to pack up the leftovers were we informed that this would be an additional charge as the food was intended to be consumed on site. I've never had anything so bold happen to me in a restaurant. Especially since the boss then became rude relatively quickly. The same thing happened with the drinks, where we didn't skimp on ordering a wide variety of them. Nevertheless, they wanted to charge us extra for a small sip of tap water. Mind you, they only asked about this because unfortunately they only have this really undrinkable Eptingerwasser. I would therefore prefer to give 0 points for the service - but in my opinion this has nothing to do with the employees, but rather with a business strategy that just screams that you don't really need the customer. It's a real shame, we'll be looking at other restaurants for future team dinners.

The head of Spagi led us to the table. When we didn't follow him straight away (because we were still drumming up the children), he got angry. When my wife asked him to be a little more polite, he said... The guests did it that way and if we don't like it, we can leave. ... We were shocked and very disappointed that we (guests) were treated like this.

Service was very friendly and quick. The ambience inside is very appealing and nice. There is enough seating outside. After ordering, which was taken very quickly, the food arrived within 5 minutes. This is not a good sign in any restaurant and unfortunately it was the case. Unfortunately the carbonara didn't taste good at all and was very salty. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend the restaurant.

The Spagi has a lot of atmosphere. The great window panes with Aarau's history are unique. The trim in the rooms is great. The trendy Italian cuisine is sensational and fresh. Good place for all kinds of meetings. You can also have your cell phone charged. Special requests are catered for.

The food arrived just 3-5 minutes after ordering, that didn't bode well and that's how it was🙈 loveless 8:15 a.m. meal, not worth the money. My spaghetti chickeria was pasta with water, no taste, no seasoning and carelessly slammed into the plate! Here are def. no restaurateurs at work! Service was friendly and good, the ambience is great! It's a shame about the beautiful restaurant, but at home you can make 100 times the most delicious pasta in 10 minutes, so there's no reason to go to Spagi! The old town was full last night, only there was no one sitting outside at the spagi, also a sign that...

It was my first time eating at this restaurant and I was quite satisfied. I had a green salad as a starter, and for the main course I had spaghetti carbonara. They were very generous with the bacon on the carbonara, a thumbs up for that. At the end there was an espresso. All in all a great deal, the service was also very attentive and friendly.

Unfortunately a bad experience in what was actually a very attractive restaurant. We ordered bruschetta as a starter and received it quickly, it was very tasty, you can't say anything against it. Afterwards everything was cleared away, although we were still waiting for the main course. We then had to wait almost 1 1/2 hours after the starter for our pasta and ask for cutlery again! I ordered Penne Aglio e Olio, which were really barely edible. The garlic cloves were so burned that they were like rubber (see picture). In addition, the whole dish tasted as if it had been reheated for the third time. When we pointed out the deficiencies to the service, they just rolled their eyes. There was no tip and the meal was very expensive at 80 CHF. A pity!

Back when it was still Spaghetti Factory, we came here almost every Saturday for lunch. Now it's just disappointing. The food was very, very bad and much more expensive and the service was very slow. A pity.

The Spagi by Marcello restaurant is a delight for pasta lovers! The excellent spaghetti absolutely convinced me. The taste is a dream and always cooked al dente. The restaurant is also perfectly priced. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to get a spot spontaneously at peak times as it is very popular. A reservation is therefore advisable. Still, it's worth waiting for a table because the food is definitely worth it. The friendly staff ensures a pleasant atmosphere. A must for anyone who loves authentic Italian pasta!

Now: incompetent, unfriendly waiter, when asked about dishes/ingredients his answer was "I eat and don't know that"... unfortunately that's not true. The acoustics were still loud, even though there were shockingly few guests present. 3 years ago: Great with children too, always busy

There wasn't much going on, the service staff was rather inattentive, and prices were at the upper limit (French fries 8.00/house lemonade 8.5).

The staff was very friendly. Unfortunately the food was very bad and inedible.

- The spaghetti was excellent. Extremely finely seasoned, it could almost tolerate a little less, but it wasn't too much. Unfortunately, there wasn't much attention paid to "Eat with your eyes", but the taste was so great that I can turn a blind eye to it. (However, it would still be nice if the edge of the plate was clean and maybe even a little basil leaf crowned the spaghetti) - The white wine "Merlo Bianco del Ticino" is excellent, very light and fruity. - The staff is very friendly and not too intrusive - The atmosphere is pleasant and cozy. I would definitely recommend it to friends and family ;)

I had spaghetti with mussels at your place today and it was a disaster, sorry, but the food was floating in the water and had no taste. My wife had spaghetti with meatballs and she wasn't really happy either. Her sauce was totally over salted. We told the waiter, he was a really nice guy and as compensation you wanted to buy us a coffee so please I paid 70 francs for this not tasty food and as compensation you come with a café worth about 10 francs that's a good thing Joke.

You have to call the service staff to order after 20 minutes... after 50 minutes you still haven't received your order. Inattentive, disinterested staff. Since the food is generally not bad, it's a shame.

very comfortable. salad was very fresh but way too huge for being in the starters section. the spaghetti portion was perfect and tasted great however the presentation was slightly lacking in both meals. some of the staff were very kind. music isnt annoying despite not being my type of genre. id love to give a 4.5 but I'll round it up.

Spaghetti aglio, olio e peperoncino, caprese. I'm always more and more disappointed with Italian food. At least in the ones I was in. Here too I have to say, accordingly. Portion too small. Fresh garlic a good oil ??.Good spaghetti ?? You don't necessarily have to make it yourself, but the spaghetti was almost perfect. Caprese portion shameful for the price. Price performance is not given for me. The last place is full, so you don't have to change anything about the food.

Two stars, and only because the service was good and friendly. GUYS YOU MAKE PASTA! How can you mess up pasta and serve it so carelessly? The chef should really consider changing industries. We had 2 green salads both with ready-made sauce! In small mini bowls, not even a wedge of tomato made it into the bowl. Then once Bolognese (totally watered down and only tasted like tomato.) And carbonara not only looked terrible, but unfortunately it also tasted terrible. Both plates looked like they came straight from the microwave. With the carbonara, the sauce was nicely pooled at the bottom and the top was bone dry. If I got something like that in a fast food restaurant it would be the first and last time, but you can and should expect a lot more from a restaurant. Hence the rating, which I never do otherwise. It's a shame, that's probably why it was very empty where you were.

We ate there as a family, 3 generations. The selection is great if you like pasta, which is true for us! We love the spagi! Happy to come back!

Lovely staff in the dining room, however: overcooked (mushed) pasta and where is the meat in the actual bolognese?! - response: the gluten free pasta is difficult to cook. (The order was gluten free and bolognese penne). I wouldn’t recommend, and think you can be better off at home by spending a bit of time in the kitchen.

Very nice restaurant in the middle of the old town. The interior is pleasantly designed and the service is good. The food was very delicious and the prices were fair. We can recommend the house iced tea with hibiscus.

Quality has deteriorated a lot (!!!). After 2 minutes the spaghettis are already cold. The boss is also not open to criticism.

Very disappointing experience. We've been going here for years, even when it was still the Spaghetti Factory. Now the prices are more expensive, but the food has become worse. I ordered spaghetti Napoli and I got spaghetti with a few pieces of tomatoes. (It even looks more appetizing in the picture than in real life.) They were so dry that I had to ask for more sauce. And I pay 18 francs for that! In addition, we even had to wait 1 hour even though the restaurant was half empty. Other people's food was sometimes good, but not everyone was happy either. And for 0.5l of TAP WATER I pay 7 Fr. You can't even have a glass of tap water. But the service is very nice and it is clean, hence the 2 stars, even if it is rather rounded up.

Visit on 12/29/22. Unfortunately the food wasn't really good. My friend had the salmon spaghetti with mushrooms, it was way too salty and it was almost unpalatable (he really likes salt but it was too much even for him and I've never experienced that before). I had the porcini mushroom cream sauce spaghetti, which unfortunately was tasteless, so I can make better ones myself. The porcini mushrooms were almost raw and the parsley was much too coarse. At least it was fresh. The price was very high for this quality. I was there a few years ago and it was very good, unfortunately the quality has deteriorated extremely. Luckily the service wasn't very bad. I hope this was an exception.

We ate there as a group and ordered the menu. Spaghetti came quite quickly, but to our eyes it was thrown carelessly onto the plate. Carbonara with cream doesn't work at all. I personally didn't like the Caesar salad, the sauce had nothing to do with Caesar, the croutons were much too big and reminded me of stale bread. 🥓 in large slices, not digestible for me. The portion size varied greatly. For us the visit was a disappointment.

The food (spaghetti pesto and bolognese) was, to say the least, an impertinence! The pesto dish was so dry that we had to spice it up with olive oil - carelessly prepared, without decoration. At home this food was heavy on our stomachs! It's a shame, I hope the chef just had a bad day!

"0 star" My wife ordered Bolognese which was inedible and they saved a lot on minced meat. the noodles feel really cheap in the thinnest version. She couldn't even eat 20% of her plate. "0 star" I ordered Don Casimir. wasn't the best either. "2 stars"

For me, as always, a kind of friendly coming home to friends. I enjoy going and is always a big welcome, even with the family including two small children. I think the child-friendliness is particularly worth mentioning. Gladly again and again.

Nice atmosphere and friendly service and good wine. The concept of the restaurant is based on Barilla pasta. So not fresh pasta a la Italia, but the dried ones. However, price performance is right. 2 adults and 1 child 83.- you can't complain.

If you want a quick meal, okay, but if I want to have a cozy evening, then no thanks. Food comes very quickly and therefore prepared somewhat carelessly. Waiters in stress, it's just about processing the guests quickly so that a table is available again quickly (my impression). Of course it's practical if you have a short lunch, for example. But for me personally it's too hectic. The taste of the food was okay, but for the price (especially for the salads), I wouldn't go there again.

My girlfriend and I were very satisfied. The starter was delicious, as was the penne. The service was very friendly and nice. We are very rarely in Aarau, but Spagi by Marcello is always a must when we are there.

In the old town of Aarau, on a square between a few other restaurants and bars. I wasn't inside, there were a few tables set up outside. Reminded me of cheaper garden chairs and tables, which are also a bit outdated. The restaurant was busy, but we quickly found a seat. The waitress immediately cleared the table and served us in a friendly manner. The map is very manageable. The food was good.

Super friendly reception. We got a nicely shaded spot and received our order quite quickly. The service was more than satisfactory. We received our food within 15 minutes of arrival. The food was very tasty and we were both satisfied. Definitely recommended!
