Spice Village in Interlaken

Really nice Indian food we had in our stay of 3 days in dinner. Really serving tasty food for dinner.

I recently visited an this restaurant with high hopes and hunger, but sadly, it fell short of expectations. We ordered a variety of dishes including veg biryani, garlic naan, lamb korma, and matar paneer. To put it bluntly, the food was a complete disappointment. The matar paneer was particularly revolting; the matar tasted as if it had merely been boiled with no seasoning or flavor whatsoever. I strongly advise against ordering it. The garlic naan was equally underwhelming, lacking any discernible garlic flavor and instead seemingly coated in turmeric powder and butter. It's baffling how they could label it as garlic naan and charge such a hefty price for it. Overall, this restaurant seemed more like a tourist trap than a culinary destination. Save your money and appetite; don't bother dining here.

Worst food ever had at least the pre packed food was good which I brought it from self

Food was pricey for the quality, oily and not flavorful. Avoid if possible. Price on the final bill was not as in the menu

Very disappointing. We just went to the restaurant today. There are lots of customers, we are the ones who come first. However, we waited for one hour, food was served to everyone except us and the one family. When we want to cancel order, suddenly they can provide the food immediately. We just decided to pack the food, since we are rushing to other places. Very poor in terms of service, and the staffs are ignorant. Think twice before you decided to eat here.

This restaurant is the worst restaurant I have ever dine in. We come first but only received after we decided to cancel the order (after 1 hour waiting). The food is ok but not so great, which we can find better options along the street. My opinion, the price is is consider expensive with that type of service. Don't go if you could find other options

I don't understand the negative reviews. We ate excellently, everything was great, including the portion size. We'd love to come back.

Coming from Australia, and being an Indian born person, I had a suspicious feeling about this place. However, once the food got served… I was blown away. Such authentic tasting Panneer Butter masala and Chicken curry. Tasted like eating in a restaurant in India. Would highly recommend for anyone in Interlaken area looking for some good Indian food.

Arguably the best indian food I’ve ever had. The pratha and vegetable biryani were hands down the best I’ve ever had. Nice sized portions and just amazing flavors!!

Toilets are disastrous, with no hot water, towels, etc. The portions are relatively small. It's a shame ☹️

Good food but the atmosphere was not good. Relative of the owner kept playing her music and it was loud and very annoying and when we asked him to make her turn it off she started screaming 😯 diners put their mobiles on speaker and talk like they’re in their living room. I could see the owner is annoyed too but he couldn’t do anything about it and we had to tell them to keep it down. Overall the food was delicious.

The best Indian food away from India and they make it as per your taste, mild or spicy. We absolutely loved the Lamb biryani, Dhaal Makkani and Chicken Tikka. The one who served us is Z. Ali. He was so friendly and gave us all the info we needed for us, tourists.

Food was really good, but they got my order wrong and made it seem like it was my fault. They didn't offer to bring me what I wanted either. I suggest pointing at what you want on the menu to make sure.

Beautiful food and all very authentic! The rotis were so soft and buttery, perfectly paired with delicious North Indian curries. We got rajma, paneer and chole and everything was just so good! The management was very friendly and accommodating. We loved our dinner! Thank you.

If you want best Indian food in Interlaken go to Spice Village. We had Indian food here on all the 03 days of our stay. Whatever we ordered was extremely tasty and fresh. The owners of the restaurant were very friendly and welcoming. Also their staff is very courteous and prompt. We highly recommend this restaurant. Thank you Spice Village, we look forward to visiting again.

Terrible food and service. 0 stars for everything.. He greeted us and spoke to us in Hindi, and we didn’t quite understand.. On Top of that he asked us where are we from, when told Singapore, he wasn’t quite convinced with it also.. We had chapathi, channa, paneer and samosa.. All their dishes were flavourless. They just had Turmeric added into every dish and it was like eating turmeric powder at every bite. We requested them to serve the tea later after our meal, in English.. and the person who took order said ok, but he brought it right away.. When we said we asked it for the end of the meal, he said “Sorry I don’t understand your English” His response was arrogant and felt that these people only smile and serve well to those who speak their language, felt like a racist place to dine, would never suggest this place. And their food costs so much, not even worth a single penny..

We had one of the best Indian food in Interlaken at this very restraurant. Adil bhai was very hospitable and served some tasty Indian vegetarian food with all the spices. The Alloo Matar and Daal Tadka were really tasty. Butter Naan would’ve been more crispier but no complains when you are get Indian food in Interlaken !

Wonderful service even after 11pm at night

I gave the restaurant a full-star purely because of their otherwordly, authentic, rich butter chicken. No other words are needed to describe this 10/10 dish.

Very disappointed. If you order something it will take atlist 1 hours or more. They are Pakistani restaurant and giving bad reputation to Indian hospitality and food.

Food took way too long to arrive (50min). The reason given for the delay was that it was full but over half of the restaurant was empty. Average taste, not worth the wait at all. Portion sizes of the curries/sabjis were very small and very expensive. I do not recommend this place for anyone

The food was very delicious, but the environment of the restaurant and the food were expensive compared to street food, but this is normal in Switzerland 🤣 I advise you to take your food and go home

Extremely disappointing!! I don't understand why Pakistanis call their restaurants as Indian restaurant!! Unappetizing in appearance, worse in taste. Ordered Karahi Paneer, Chicken Tikka Masala and Dal Makhani. Chunks of tomato and big onion pieces with hardly any gravy in both Tikka Masala and Paneer!! It was boiled chicken cubes rather than chicken tikka from Tandoor, so much for calling themselves a Tandoori restaurant!! The Dal was semicooked in the Dal Makhani. And the server was trying to pass off plain naan as butter naan, until the boss was called. All in all extremely avoidable place!! Better place in the alley in front!

We ordered a medium grain, but I feel like I don't know why I saw a cucumber raita in it. How many cucumbers did my samosa raita have? It was very good. It might have been the best. I expected something better.

Ate here today. They shouldn't be called Spice Village. It's Onion Village. All dishes were served with huge pieces of onions even the lamb. Biryani had no salt or spices. Diced salad was so bad with huge chunks of veges. Upon asking, the waiter was so rude and answered that this is how i do it. Extremely rude personal. 🤨😒 Expensive for such bad food.our bill was CHF 218- (240€)

We were touring in Switzerland and always found restaurants serving vegetarian and vegan options wherever we went. Somehow in interlaken it wasn’t easy to find vegetarian and/or vegan options for light dinner. We found this place while walking & staff were very welcoming. Had delicious vegetable soup & lentil soup as well as paneer & Aloo parathas. Food was excellent & the staff was very warm.

To start with, why would the Manager not tell us about the portion size. Worst taste ever. Authenticity credits are fake. When menu states Karahi or Curry for 30, any individual might think that at least its for 2. It was not even full filling for 1. Disrespectful waiters. Even the streets of Pakistan and India sell food in a better way with respect. Spice village had no spices or salt. Wasted so much money🤢 Fraud.

Service a bit rude and lacking attention, even if there were not many patrons. Chicken Tikka served cold and a bit bland (asked medium spice). Butter Chicken was quite good and came as ordered. A different experience than when I visited it in 2022!

The restaurant is good. But it is very expensive compared to our prices in Jeddah Almost 3 times the price.

Prompt Service, Tasty Vegetarian Option. We tried the Parathas-Paneer and Aloo and on request the owner made them Vegetarian Jain! It was definitely the tastiest, simple and fresh meal we had in Interlaken! Highly recommend for Jain Vegetarian Indians.

This restaurant is in the heart of India- Pakistan village. I went there during the last day of our trip, just before leaving for Basel. In interlaken, you ought to have Indian food because of the Yash Chopra legacy of filming in and around this area. Karai Paneer had a really good Dhaba style taste. Garlic naan did not have much garlic but nothing roti and garlic naan were very fluffy. Tea was ok. Overall, we really enjoyed the hospitality by the Lahore brothers!

Very poor, dal makhni was made by putting boiled dal in some pre-prepared curry, vegetables were just boiled and served with salt and pepper. Ready to eat packed food is much better than this.

I really liked the food, not the biggest Indian critic. I didn't think I'd finish the Tikka chicken it was a lot. Plate was gone, says a lot. Friendly staff too.

One word Authentic. Another one Fresh. This was truly great Desi food - a must if you are looking for Desi Pakistani/Indian food. Vibe is great. We had fresh roti with chicken Biryani, butter chicken and daal. They have outdoor sitting which is excellent. Go for it.
