The price-performance ratio is right. Unfortunately, the quality of sleep was not so good. The pillows and mattresses were far too soft.

The food was delicious. It was a shame that the chef didn't use seasonal vegetables but instead served zucchini in winter. The non-Swiss beef also bothered me, so I opted for vegetarian. The young waiter was very professional, super friendly and attentive. Compliment.

I stayed in this hotel this week as part of a further training course in Gossau and was very satisfied. It is a rustic building that exudes a certain charm. I like the nostalgia that the wooden walls and the old lamps in the hallways convey. Nevertheless, the rooms are very modern and bright. You can also eat very well there and especially menus that are rather unusual (I had a garlic cordon bleu). What was a bit unfortunate for me was that it rained at night and the gutter was blocked. So I had a constant "knocking" of water drops all night long, similar to a dripping tap, which was a bit of a hindrance to sleeping. It must also be said that there is a lot of traffic on the main road, which can be disadvantageous for people who love peace and quiet. There were also dried coffee grounds at the bottom of the coffee cups at the breakfast buffet. Of course these should be clean. All in all, I was very satisfied with my stay and I would go there again in a heartbeat.

Went there for lunch on Sunday with relatives. Very friendly welcome for an aperitif with delicious garlic and tomato bread. We have pre-ordered the meat for the hot stone from so many people. Everything worked out wonderfully in terms of timing and we were all able to eat together. Side dishes are generous, tasty and uncomplicated in large bowls that you can scoop up yourself. The quality of the food was excellent and the service was super hospitable and familiar. We felt very comfortable and would love to come back.

Our room was very large (3 beds) and very clean. It also seemed relatively newly renovated. We had a TV and WiFi is also available. The personnel is very friendly and courteous. There are also sufficient parking spaces directly at the hotel. There is also a restaurant which is reasonably priced. The food was good and very plentiful. The breakfast was also completely fine. Very manageable, but also sufficient. The fresh bread is very positive. Unfortunately I have to deduct 2 stars because it smelled very strongly of food/fried food. And you couldn't open the window permanently at night because the church bells were right next door and the traffic noise was quite loud. The hotel is right on the main street. As a result, there was little sleep.

We spontaneously followed a recommendation for food, everything worked out great and quickly, even if the kitchen was a bit stressed 😆 Fine food and the children were also happy about the toys. Dear, greetings Manuela

5-liber butcher's steak At first I was very surprised by this idea. But what I experienced then was just crazy. Logically, the portions are not large at this price, but still very reasonable. And so you have the opportunity to try several of the very good things. In the end, you ate enough and still paid less than at one of the “usual” butcher shops. Service was extremely friendly, although completely stressful. Conclusion: food very good, service perfect, price very cheap!

Very friendly welcome, cozy room, courteous family business. I was only there for one night, without food. I didn't miss anything! They even packed a lunch bag for me because I had to leave before breakfast. For appointments in the region, I would book the sun again immediately and would be happy to recommend it to others at any time!

We were only there to eat. Very child-friendly, even if the child doesn't play along while eating. (thanks again for understanding). The food was really excellent except for the soup, which didn't quite suit our taste, but that's a matter of opinion :) seems very elegant.

Were here for lunch. Nice restaurant in a historic building. Service friendly and sepditive. Both the pork steak (meat menu) and the veal liver were ok. But the soup really wasn't convincing. Personally, I am of the opinion that there is still potential for optimization in the price/performance ratio.

There is no hairdryer in the bathroom!

The staff were all very nice, the room was clean and tidy. But dinner was awesome. What I ordered was so good. I give it 5 stars because I can't give it 6 stars.

We've been out in the sun a lot over the last few years. Unfortunately this time it was anything but good. The waitress was very friendly and accommodating! A loud and vulgar cook could be heard coming from the kitchen. Well-positioned employees are a blessing. But that lunchtime was just disturbing. Since we were almost the only guests, the meal took a little too long for us. When we came across softly baked schnitzel that still had a hair in it, we actually just wanted to leave. Even the high price reduction has not changed the overall situation. Of course we thanked you for this. Conclusion: Friendly and accommodating. There are certainly better days But for us it was a visit with a bad aftertaste...

Small group for lunch in December 2021: Prices fair, but everything smelled like fish. Nobody dared to eat the vegetables. When we brought the problem to the attention of the staff, they said succinctly that the chef didn't know where the fishy smell on the liver and entecote dish was coming from. We will never eat there again!

We have been staying at the Hotel Sonne frequently for 4 years. Sometimes to stay overnight and also in a restaurant. The rooms are clean, the service is just great and the food is amazing! Have never been disappointed. We love to eat in the restaurant in autumn because the game there tastes simply wonderful. We have ordered several times and it has always been delicious so far. So if you have something to complain about in the reviews, you're really looking for a needle in a haystack... Hotel and restaurant 100% recommended.

My 14 year old daughter was given alcohol in the beef tartare. When I asked about this, it was denied several times. Over time, it was discovered that it contained wine vinegar. 1. In wine vinegar it has alcohol between 0.5 to 2.5 per mil. 2. There was nothing on the menu I am a qualified food technologist and was portrayed as not knowing anything. I find it unreasonable for children, believers who are against alcohol or people who have problems with alcohol. I was there the last time.

I ordered 3 family pizzas via Uber Eats yesterday. These arrived quickly, but instead of being 50cm, they weren't even close to being as big. The disappointment is enormous and I am waiting for an explanation of the matter. My day was ruined. Thank you dear Stadtgasthaus Sonne team!

Unfortunately, the reception was anything but warm. We arrived at a locked door and were only allowed in when called and then very sullenly. We were asked to pay in advance. Room was clean, unfortunately without minibar. For breakfast there was expired yoghurt. The service at breakfast was very friendly.

I was able to enjoy a great pizza with bacon, onions and double cheese. Very light, more than generously topped and just lick your fingers. A real compliment to the kitchen. The service was really relaxed and super friendly. Sun is the program!!! Keep it up and we'll all look forward to the reopening

Erstklassiges Cordon Bleu per Lieferdienst erhalten. Pommes dazu waren frisch wie direkt im Restaurant. Weitere Menus nicht ganz auf dem Niveau. Die Verpackung könnte noch nachhaltiger gestaltet werden.

Nicht nur das Essen ist einmalig, auch der Service und die prompte Lieferung sind 👍top. Und die Gestaltung der verschiedenen Aluschalen einfach cool 😄

Take away Service: Kalbsgeschnetzeltes in hervorragender Qualität zu sehr fairem Preis. Alles war heiss. Die Verpackungsdeckel sind sehr nett von Hand gezeichnet oder mit einem Spruch versehen. Man ist mit Herzblut dabei.

Haben 6 Menues bestellt. Ich hatte das Knoblauch Cordon Bleu mit Pommes, Tomaten Mozzarella Salat und Apfelringe mit Vanille Sauce. Es war absolut der Hammer. Trotz des Liefern war alles warm und Geschmacklich wirklich Top. 👍🏼 Auch die netten Sprüche und Zeichnungen auf den Deckeln der Alu Schalen war eine mega aufmunterung in dieser tristen Zeit.

Weil wegen Corona die Restaurants geschlossen sind, bietet der Gasthof Sonne feine Menus an, welche abgeholt werden können. Zweimal benützt, beides Mal bestens zu einem sehr fairen Preis

It was a nice and old wooden hotel (Guesthouse) with less than 10 rooms. it is a symbolic Swiss house. I were there in May 2019. very kind staff especially an old man and two young women.Breakfast was acceptable and room cleanliness was perfect.The Location is in the middle of the heart of city.But the church bell may annoy you because it sounds every 30 minutes, of course when the room windows are open.Gossau is a very beautiful city located in St. Gallen Canton. I can't forget that trip.

Wir hatte drei verschiedene Gerichte gegessen und alle drei waren ausgezeichnet und reichlich garniert.

Das Hotel gefällt mir sehr gut. Das Essen war sehr gut. Die Bedienung war freundlich und aufmerksam. Die Zimmer waren neu renoviert. Das einzige Manko ist, dass kein Lift vorhanden ist. Aus diesem Grund ist das Erreichen der Zimmer für gehbehinderte Menschen ein wenig mühsam. Ich verstehe aber durchaus, dass es aus baulicher Sicht nicht immer möglich ist, einen Lift einzubauen.

Spontan sind kurz nach dem Mittag zum essen gekommen. Die Bedienung war sehr nett und schnell. Nette Begrüssung und verabschiedung. Die Mittagskarte, klein und fein. Gerichte in allen Preisklassen. Das Menu wurde schnell serviert. Gemüse frisch, Spätzli selbstgemacht. Rundund ein tolles Essen.

Haben sehr fein gegessen hier. War nur etwas überrascht, dass beim Gericht Gemüsespätzli das Gemüse separat kam. Meist ist das ja im Teig eingearbeitet. Gutes Preis/Leistungsverhältnis. Schön eingerichtet und freundliches Personal. Einzig, der Strassenlärm ist störend.

Gute und preiswerte Küche. Stroganof oder Leberli nach Art von Ruedi sind einfach genial Zentral gelegen und genug Parkplätze ums Haus

Das Gasthaus Sonne ist eines der ältesten Häuser in Gossau. Ein besucht im alt ehrwürdigen Haus lohnt sich immer... auch wenn es nur zum Essen ist.

Siamo stati in 3 in questo ristorante a cena perché avevamo una riunione il giorno dopo in quella zona. Il posto è dentro un hotel, quindi curato, carino ma nulla di particolare. Abbiamo preso una tartare di manzo, una antipasto misto di salumi e formaggi da dividere e poi un main plate con entrecote in padella con verdure e patatine fritte. 3 birre, 2 bottiglie d'acqua e 5 amari. In totale abbiamo pagato 70€ a testa. Per noi italiani (nonostante siamo abituati ai prezzi più elevati di Milano) il prezzo era davvero alto. Anche se alla fine la carne era praticamente una doppia porzione a testa. Le due bottiglie di acqua da un litro sobo venute 16€ o 18€. Pazzesco, soprattutto perché la birra costava molto meno. In Italia poi siamo abituati che l'amaro a fine cena viene offerto, qui non è andata così. Il cameriere era comunque molto cortese.

Wir waren mit der Familie in der Sonne. Das Essen hat uns geschmeckt (Leberli, Knusperli, Schnipo und Chicken Nuggets). Der Service war ebenfalls zu unserer Zufriedenheit.

Die Tafel (Kalbsleberli) vor dem Stadtgasthaus Sonne mitten im Zentrum von Gossau hat mich bewogen, hier einzukehren. Der Service ist sehr freundlich, das Essen sehr gut und das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt. Im ersten Obergeschoss gibt es Käse-, Chinoise- und Bourguinonne Fondues. Werde ich beim nächsten Besuch vorbeischauen.

Von Beginn an sehr freundlicher Service. Das Appenzeller Fondue mit einem Preis von 26. Fr schmeckte ausgezeichnet und war eine schöne grosse Portion. Somit bietet sich ein nahezu perfektes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Ich komme immer wieder gerne in diese Stilvoll eingerichtete "Fonduestube". Ein grosses Lob an das Personal für die tolle Bedienung. Macht weiter so!

Super feines Käsefondue! Das Personal gab sich mühe / toller Service. Das normale Restaurant im unteren Stock und das Fonduestübli im oberen Stock. Ich empfehle dieses Restaurant gerne weiter.

Wir waren mit einer Gruppe von 12 Personen Fondue Chinoise à discretion essen in der Sonne. Wir waren in einem separaten Stübli untergebracht und hatte eine ausgelassene Stimmung. Das Fleisch war perfekt und wurde nicht gefroren serviert wie Andernorts. Die Saucen und Pommes waren auch sehr gut, wir kommen sehr gerne wieder in die Sonne.

Das Preis - Leistungsverhältnis passt perfekt. Der Service ist sehr zuvorkommend. Kann nur weiterempfohlen werden.

Das Essen hat mir sehr gut geschmeckt. War sehr zufrieden. Auch das Personal ist sehr freundlich, man fühlt sich wohl. Jederzeit wieder.

Suppe und Stroganoff waren qualitativ top. Bedienung jung und er gut, sie weniger. Wein war OK, mehr nicht. Preis/Leistung stimmt.

Ristorante, ma anche pensione ( ed e' per questo che ho prenotato), in Gossau,. Ha camere comode ed a buon mercato per essere in Svizzera( include una discreta colazione). Il ristorante e' un ambiente caldo e molto carino, i piatti sono principalmente tipici Svizzeri con quindi abbondanti patate e carne cotta in svariati modi serviti da veloci e gentili signorine;,l'unico problema e' che il rapporto prezzo/quantita' (non qualita') grazie al cambio del franco svizzero penalizza il tutto..
