Strauss in Meierskappel

Last Saturday we had dinner at the Landgasthof Strauss for the first time with 6 people. We were particularly impressed by the great hosts, the food and the rustic ambience. We had a very good dinner at a really great price/performance ratio (compliments also to the chef!). The service was also convincing and was very attentive at all times. We will certainly visit the Landgasthof Strauss again and can only warmly recommend it.

The inn is getting quite old and smells correspondingly old. The bathrooms are more modern and renovated. Unfortunately, the meat is too well cooked and the tap water costs around CHF 5 per glass. Unfortunately we were disappointed. Especially since the fitness plate saves a lot of meat. We each had good wine half pouket breast (dry). Then CHF 19 is too much. The serving lady was friendly but distant. Great value for money for an aperitif, but not for eating anymore.

The food was good, for once Ruedi cooked again. It's a shame, it used to be such a good restaurant.

My partner and we were guests at the country inn $trauss in Meierskappel today, October 21st, 2021. We chose game due to the season. As a starter we had the deer carpaccio and the game terrine. Anyone who loves carpaccio. hits the jackpot with the venison carpaccio! The same applies to the terrine. For the main course we had the deer medallion with the usual side dishes. The meat was tender as butter, the perfectly seasoned red cabbage, the game cream sauce with a dash of Calvados convinced us, even thrilled us. We deliberately chose Thursday because experience shows that there are fewer guests to entertain. With a clear conscience, we can warmly recommend the Landgasthaus Strauss with its new tenant.

The portions have become smaller for the 5 course meal. Kitchen was overloaded including service!!

Then she came back with a gentleman (who brought us the salads) and I told him the matter again. After another hour of waiting, we got the main course. We ate quickly and just wanted to leave. The waitress tried to save me in a very friendly manner, but the whole thing was too unpleasant for me. She wanted to invite us for a free drink because of all this, but we just wanted to leave as quickly as possible. The waitress was really friendly and tried very hard, I would definitely like to say that. The evening had turned into a disaster for me, even though the matter wasn't actually a problem, what mattered to me was how they dealt with it and treated me. But the food was really very good, so I give it 2 stars. I really hope that people don't treat customers like that otherwise, unfortunately it's the first time with the new tenants and definitely the last time.

Fitnessteller war es dann, aber mit gemischtem Salat. Das fanden wir nicht so toll. Bis unsere Cordon Bleus frisch zubereitet serviert wurden, verging doch eine halbe Stunde, was für frische Cordon Bleus völlig OK ist. Das Essen aus der Kinderkarte für unseren dreijährigen Sohn, kam dann aber gleichzeitig mit unserem Essen. Das zeigt, dass sich Familien mit Kleinkinder offenbar nicht so oft im Strauss verpflegen.
