Very tasty food in beautiful Marthalen. Friendly service and a nice, cozy restaurant. You feel very welcome. Great idea to serve the salad in a large bowl or the soup in a tureen so that everyone at the table can eat. As a vegetarian option, I was even served a delicious, incredibly beautifully presented autumn plate that wasn't even on the lunch menu. Thank you very much. We recommend. I'd love to come back when I'm nearby.

The service was OK but you weren't treated as a valued guest. Nevertheless, I had already prepared a generous tip. Since I can't understand why American Express isn't accepted because of a few francs a month and maybe half a percent more commission than MasterCard or Visa, I finally decided to leave the tip in. The prices for going to a restaurant in Switzerland are so high that you would probably be able to cope with the few additional francs that AmEx would cost. The ambience in the interior was nothing special, the garden area was manageable and without a view. There was a dead mouse lying on a wall right next to the table that was assigned to us. We were the only guests the whole evening, so the mouse could have been noticed and eliminated right next to the table. We will no longer visit the Marthalen room for the reasons mentioned. For the price, 250 francs, without an exclusive choice of food and without wine and only two starters, there are better and nicer restaurants. I also only visit restaurants that accept American Express. So I think not accepting American Express is a business mistake. Not necessarily purely financial. American Express is an exclusive product and should therefore be accepted by exclusive restaurants. After all, you can now pay with AmEx almost everywhere except at Volg, Lidl, Aldi and a few restaurants. The food, service and ambience were all OK, so less than three stars wouldn't be justified, but definitely not more.

We were absolutely delighted with a tender and perfectly seasoned beef steak and a tender pork steak with French fries and vegetables. The caramel chop doesn't have to hide either. The house also scores points with its feel-good atmosphere and friendly service.

We were able to enjoy our daughter's baptism dinner in the Marthalen room. Despite the hut being full, we received great service and enjoyed a very tasty meal à la carte! Really great, great service & kitchen. We can recommend the restaurant with a clear conscience!
