Suan Long in Zürich

Waitress wasn't in the mood for the guests, didn't feel like talking or recommending anything from the menu. Food was lukewarm and too oily, plates were cold and according to the waitress we should say in advance that we don't want any oil in our food?????! In the end me and my friend only got the food we ordered, my friend was forgotten and we never saw the waitress again. We haven't seen a service like this before, so we'd rather eat a protein bar from the vending machine!!!

Food was lacking seasoning, staff were rude and I was charged for a beer I didn't get to drink. Then had staff look down their nose at us when the credit card was declined only to have other customers cards also declined due to a technical issue with their credit card machine. Have travelled Europe extensively and eaten Asian cuisine regularly. This would have to count as the worst experience. I don't normally post reviews but had to make an exception for this restaurant.

The aesthetic of the restaurant is cute. Ordered chicken friend rice, but shrimp came along too.. we don’t eat shrimp whatsoever. Kinda off putting. The papaya salad had cross contamination and it tasted like they cut fish with it prior to the veggies. It had a very strong veggie taste. Sweet and sour chicken was eh. Nothing to come back for Also, customer service was as if I was bothering them.

We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. Staff was friendly, beautiful space, and the food was delicious! We ordered the egg soup (amazing!), pan-fried rice noodles with veggies, and a spicy chicken rice dish. Everything was so good! If we had more time in Zürich, we would go back again!

Very bad chicken, dry, and the sweet and sour sauce too sour. The first time I got Coca Cola in a plastic bottle in a restaurant. Szechuan chicken terrible. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. A waste of time and money, and especially my stomach.......

I feel very comfortable as a regular guest. They always know what I want to order. It's always very stressful at lunchtime, so it's very pleasant when I can just sit and not have to wait long.

After few weeks of travelling, we were craving for asian food ( with rice of course ). So we decided to drop by this restaurant after long day of walking. It was quite busy inside, the waitresses were almost running. Ok... i thought we had to wait for a while, however not long, a waitress came and asked if we had any question or found something... Oh... yes... we wanted to order something right away after a nice decent talk to her. We took the duck and crispy shrimps. Both were tasty and definitely very good choice. We came back one more time the day after.... we tried some starter soup ( with fish and shrimps ) , both were perfect in the cold day. We ordered fried rice and noodle for the main course. However, we still preferred the duck and shrimps we ate the day before...

We had eaten the Cantonese duck in this restaurant several times. Always fresh with little fat and very deliciously prepared. We'd love to come back.

I have eaten at this restaurant for years. For a few months the quality has significantly worsened. I would like to tell you about the episode that happened last month. There were 4 of us and as a starter we took the spring rolls, the taste was questionable, the breading was too hard and the sauce seemed wrong, old. Let's go further, here comes a plate of rice and vegetables that literally tasted like OIL!! Gas!! Something bordering on disgusting. All the other dishes, however, were cold and the impression is that they had only been quickly heated in the microwave. The waiters were hostile and did not speak German well. We left, sending everything back to the kitchen, we were no longer hungry after that disgust. The owner made us pay for what we had already consumed, we would have expected at least the gesture of not charging anything. I'm very sorry because it was my favorite Chinese restaurant in ZH. We will never go back there again.

The traditional stuff looks great. I had the duck in orange sauce and it was far away from what I expected. It came in a very sweet sauce. Almost like the orange filling of a cake served with deep fried duck. The rice with veggies was other than expected not fried and just oily rice with fresh veggies. Overall maybe my expectations were to high but I will not eat here again.

I have never seen such poor service, our order was taken 25 minutes after our arrival for 2 dishes and two bottles of water. My girlfriend's dish arrives directly (good but nothing more) and I have to wait 30-45 minutes for my dish. My girlfriend is going to ask the waiter (I think he forgot to bring me my dish) because the pasta as well as the vegetables and chicken were cold. I didn't want to stay any longer, I unfortunately paid and we left but I absolutely do not recommend this “Chinese restaurant”

The food - summer rolls, spring rolls, papaya salad and tom yum soup - was fine, as was the value for money; Unfortunately our steamed dumplings were forgotten, which was a shame given 6 smaller dishes for 3 people. The ambience was nice, as was the service. The toilets could have been cleaner, especially there was a lot of paper on the floor.

Not a trader for a penny. Very basic food. Go your way if you have the choice.

I came here after seeing the bad reviews, so I still gave them a bad review. The food was served in the wrong order and the service was terrible.

Oh Ms. Ly. I have been cornered at Suan Long many times. Everything was always perfect, good, cheap, friendly and fast. Today I was in Suan Long Niederdorf for the first time. A lot of people, that's part of your business. I wait over 50 minutes and the food is still not there. That takes my hat off. Unfriendly service staff and above all no communication at all. A pity. And then they wanted to charge me for the wine I didn't drink... that's just not possible. The first and last time in Suan Long Niederdorf. You have enough tourists and students there, you don't need Swiss customers. You could return the favor with an invitation to Lemon Grass, I'd be happy to hear about your otherwise good restaurants.

Organizational disaster, nothing is coordinated and when you enter you wonder why you would want to eat here. It's such a shame about the restaurant, because the atmosphere would be great and the selection was varied, so far we've always enjoyed it.

Had lunch at Suan Long today. The food was ok, but service of meals took far too long. Three main meals were served over a 45 minute period. I would recommend eating elsewhere or put is a special request for the meals to be served at the same time

Got Udon with beef and soupy dumplings (Xiao Long Bao) and chicken satay for delivery. The package was awful, doesn’t keep the food warm but wasteful. Also portions are extremely small but pricey. These 2 starters and 1 main dish costs me fr. 48. Food quality were also bad. Udon was too salty, pork dumplings were smelly like fish (dunno why and how), chicken is way dry and nevertheless sauce is not special at all. It’s basically pan fried chicken breast that cooked totally wrong and comes with soy sauce in a separate container. Well I could do that. Anyone can make it without cooking knowledge. Shouldn’t name it as a satay just because it’s on a stick. Soupy dumplings, you get 3 pieces which are dried and no soup which it should be remained in the dumplings. Never ever go or order. Actually not gonna trying even if anyone paid me and the restaurant should work on developing their menu in so many ways!! Shameful, pitiful and gross.

Very unfriendly staff, some of whom don't speak a word of German, absolutely incapable of criticism. When you enter the restaurant you are ignored by the staff. You have to be lucky to get what you ordered. The food was cold, like every time. The plates all came separately, so some were almost finished eating and others hadn't even received their food yet. Chicken Sweet and Sour inedible, only tasted like vinegar. A total chaos and disorder in the restaurant. The plates including cutlery were all greasy. The way to the toilet, full of drinks, hardly any light in the toilet. At the end, when I was waiting for my companion to come back from the toilet, the entire table, including drinks, was cleared away, a la “it's finally possible”, which is a real no-go in the restaurant! Truly the worst Suan-Long in Zurich! Price performance is not right at all. Far too high prices for portions that are too small. Not worth a visit, won't be coming back!

The Place is new, nice and spacious. food was OK. But the men waiters need training like how they should hold the cup or glasses properly while serving it and NOT touch the mouth area.. We entered this place to get some soup but the old lady at the counter was extremely rude. We asked her about soups and she said ‘soup is just soup’. It seemed like she was judging us for being Indians. You should skip this place if you can and go to any one of the many other Asian restaurant on the street.

We enjoyed the well-prepared and succulent specialties and had an excellent evening.

Catastrophe. Shrimp in black bone sauce, 38 Chf, - unpeeled! Is it still okay, actually? Do you have to peel it yourself with your fingers on the plate?! Unfortunately taken as a takeaway, only seen at home. impudence. Can learn from Suan Long Langstrasse. Never again. Would not recommend

We stopped here for Thanksgiving and it was awesome! The duck was, of course, amazing.

The food itself is very good. The service is actually nice, but there were several errors that didn't work. We ordered jasmine rice and got jasmine tea. We ordered the chicken without rice and received it with rice. An order was completely lost and had to be ordered again. It's a shame because the food itself was good. All I can say about the atmosphere is that it was quite crowded. I also find it strange that in an Asian restaurant there are only forks and no chopsticks: //

Ordered food and had to wait over 40 minutes yet they did not start cooling anything so we had to cancel and leave. Staff were not busy, restaurant had very few tables to attend yet they were taking it very lightly to have the food out. Seems like not interested to cook!

Xiao Long Bao were raw and inedible - when I pointed it out, the waitress just said they were always like that, I even insisted but she was very unfriendly and charged the full amount… everything else was ok

The service was quite poor. They completely forgot to give us our tea and sparkling water. Plus lots waiters n few customers.The foods we ordered was quite tasteless until we added ourself a soya sauce.

Very bad service. No greeting from the waiter, let alone handing over the menu - even though there were only a few guests. Instead he chatted extensively with two female guests in Spanish... I waited a few minutes, but then got up and left. Never again.

Food ok (but portions far too small for the price), but service extremely poor. A main course was forgotten; it arrived after everyone at the table had already finished. In addition, the wrong dish arrived and no one even apologized, no, the waitress boldly said: “But that’s probably okay too, right?” As if this fiasco wasn’t enough, the waitress complained at the end why we did because they don't want to tip at all. Came here last night for a family meal whilst passing through Zurich. Great service with a pleasant ambience and interior. Most importantly the food was good. The chef is skillful and the noodles had very good wok hei. Fish was delicious and overall the price was very reasonable. At this price, nothing to complain about. Would definitely visit again if I'm in the area.

I had a great impression; my expectations were completely exceeded. Attentive, fast and friendly service, then excellent cuisine with lovingly prepared very authentic dishes, excellent quality of meat and all at very moderate prices. If I lived in Zurich, I would eat here every day :-)

We were 7 people and by the time of splitting the bill, the waiter took forever to do her calculations and made a few mistakes, even though we were there to tell her what we had consumed. We even ended up paying twice 3 sparkling waters that, according to her, we hadn't paid. Dissatified, they won't see me again.

Not a picky eater, but this place was awful. Fried rice was not fried, but instead stirred around a wok with way too much oil. It was one step away from being mush. Virtually no flavour and insane prices. Managers are more concerned about getting customers in and out of the tourist trap. Avoid, avoid, avoid!!!

I ate noodle vegetable soup in January of this year and it was really great in contrast to the suan long in langstrasse.

Is ok, nothing special. They made the spring rolls right on the spot, the Tom soup was ok but not what expected. Beet was cold. Huge restaurant with A/C snd sitting outside.

Ordered 3 dishes between two of us, one dish didn’t come. Service was a bit slow, but otherwise okay. Food was very enjoyable and so overall happy enough.

Good food at comparatively moderate prices for Zurich. Absolute hit: air-conditioned inside, worth its weight in gold, especially on hot summer days!

The service was slow and when we were ordering we were asked what starters we wanted. We thought that it was included because the lady asked every person in my party what starter we wanted. We ended up getting charged an extra $30 just for this and the starters were very small. The main course was pretty good but overall I am disappointed that we were charged extra for this because the waitress made it seem as if this was included in the meal (which I understand is not stated in the menu).

I was there for lunch. The stay was a blessing. Very good Asian cuisine. We were served quickly and the service was extremely friendly. Kind regards to the young gentleman who served us✌️. The ambience is pleasantly cool and not too loud. There is takeaway at a cheaper price (15-20Chf per person) but it is worth eating in the restaurant. The selection on the menu is very large. The restaurant is definitely worth noting. I'd love to come back🥰

Chance upon this place and it served amazing fried rice w wok hey and pad Thai! Recommended For family who needs to have Chinese food for the parents .

If you want to eat something simple and Asian quickly, then you'll definitely be well catered for here. There is a take away counter and a staffed restaurant area. The selection is good. The portion was ok, although the food was a little cold. There are relatively many seats. It wasn't a revelation, but more of a means to an end.
