Taverna Amphorea in Solothurn

The food was ok but too expensive for what was offered. I think the portions are very small for what you ask for. I think it's very bad that they let dogs in. The dog shook her the whole time and my mouth was full of dog hair. Sorry but that's no go, I can't recommend it to anyone else. For what you spend, there are very good restaurants in Solothurn. That was my 2nd time and last. The service was top notch and very nice. However, the food was not very garlicky.

The service was very friendly, but the price for this meal was too expensive. 1 beer and alcohol-free drink, small green salad and small starter, 3 dl of cheap wine, 2 chicken thighs approx. 150g, and vegetables with some fried potatoes, All together it was 150.- 2 people. Everything was fresh but the preparation and taste wasn't special.

Sabrine and Ilias are examples to follow. We ate the lunch menu. Good prices and big portions by Swiss standards. A la carte prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity. An absolute recommendation. I was in Solothurn for work and initially wanted to eat somewhere else, but everything there was full and I was extremely happy to have ended up here. I was caught in the middle without a reservation. The staff is very friendly and they were open to special requests. You should order the appetizer platter if, like me, you can't decide. The lamb skewer was cooked to perfection and the tzatziki was a dream. I'll come back on my next visit to Solothurn.

If you're in Solothurn and you wish to eat some Greek food, then this is the place to be!

We have reserved for 4 people plus a small child. Explicitly outside, as temperatures were predicted to be over 30 degrees. We arrived 10 minutes early and were told we had to sit inside. This is absolutely unacceptable to me with a small child. We had been looking forward to Greek food all week. Unfortunately it was nothing. I think it's a shame because I actually knew it differently. We can't say anything about the food, but when it comes to hospitality it's absolutely below all else.

We wanted a bite to eat before heading home, but all outdoor tables were reserved. The server consulted the manager and seated us with a promise to leave before arrival of the next guests. We enjoyed quality ouzo and a varied hot mezze platter.

Location: it's in th middle of the old town part. There are two floors, make sure you stay on the base. If you're on the second floor, it feels kind of lost and it gets super loud in that small room. Menu: it was kind of expensive for what it was.. but I enjoyed the mixed started plate very much. Staff: friendly and efficient Bathroom: it was disgusting due to human missbehaviour

I've eaten at Taverna Elea several times now. The food was always very tasty. I can especially recommend the mixed appetizer platter with many different flavors. I usually can't resist the gyros as my main course. The lamb skewer is also great. The service is good, the food comes quickly. I think the prices are fair for the good quality. Can't say anything negative. Can only recommend it and will definitely come back.

We have come to this restaurant before and have always had excellent food. Now to the criticisms, we made a reservation at 8 a.m. (since 7 a.m. is not possible due to double occupancy). Of course when we arrived the table wasn't free and we had to wait. Authentic Greek cuisine in the middle of Solothurn's old town. We had Melitzanes papoutsakia. So eggplant stuffed with tomatoes and feta. There was also toasted garlic bread. Delicious! The service is friendly and we were served very quickly. The only reason why it's not quite enough for 5 stars is the price of our dish. The quality is really good and it tasted fresh too. Nevertheless, I found the 28.- a bit too expensive for the portion. A reservation is recommended as the taverna is usually fully booked.

Unfortunately I have to give the taverna a bad report. Our visit there was one of the most disappointing gastronomic experiences we have had in years. Service: Absolutely catastrophe We waited 45 minutes for our drinks and 1 hour 10 for our food. Several guests left the restaurant angry because everything was taking an impossibly long time. Due to the unspeakably double occupancy of the tables, you are then chased away from your seat by the service staff. We had to squeeze in our food under time pressure...
