Tschuggen Grand Hotel in Arosa

Tschuggen is indeed a grand hotel that exceeds all expectations. The hospitable and professional staff led by Ingo & Silvana deliver a bespoke, warm experience where everything seems to go right as if by magic. Staffing seasonal hotels can sometimes be a challenge, but in this case, even the younger and newer staff is fantastic. Among the many friendly faces who enhanced are stay are concierges Max, Nils, and Nick; Outdoor Butler Milena; head of rooms Ingo and reservationist Hannes; Severin and others in the Basement; and the warm front desk team. We loved the daily complimentary experiences offered in the weekly calendar. We partook in an excellent yoga class, grilled bread on open fire, and best of all, hiked up the mountain at sunset, drank glogg by a campfire, then returned down holding fire torches. Experiences like these transform the hotel from simply a great place to stay into something unusual and enchanting. Do not miss the experiences!! This spa is as incredible as everyone says— there is space for everyone. The hotel has a wide variety of eateries, which focus on local ingredients and provenance, so even the informal outlets had incredibly high-quality food. And La Brezza was sensational, amazing to have a restaurant of that caliber in house! Housekeeping deserves a special notice for keeping our room cozy and impeccable. In short: the combination of skiing, spa, experiences, and dining, backed by an incredible staff, was a win on all counts. We can’t wait to join the ranks of return visitors next winter!!

Zimmer/Dine around gebucht... Wunderschöne Aussicht 😃 Die Küche ist fantastisch. Personal sehr freundlich. Top moderne Bergbahn nur für Hotel Gäste. SPA ist modern Erholung pur. Skigebiet ist ein Traum, für jedermann.. Schlittenweg und Wanderweg sehr gute Aufteilung. Ich bin so was enttäuscht und das in so einem Hotel=2 Sterne Abzug. Nach meinem Besuch, erhielte ich noch am 27.03.2021 eine offene Rechnung, die ich mit der Kreditkarte bezahlte. Danach wurde meine Karte in Polen und in Deutschland misstbraucht.

Schon bei der Ankunft wurde unser Fahrzeug komplett ausgepackt samt Skiern mit Parkservice. Die hervorragende Schweizer Gastlichkeit bei allen Mitarbeitern und das üppige und überaus leckere Frühstück haben uns begeistert. Der Tschuggenexpress bringt den Gast zur Tschuggenalm ins Skigebiet. Tolles Bergpanorama genossen wir von der Junior Suite nach zwei Seiten. Die Live Musik am Abend war perfekt zum Aperitif oder Digestive an der Lobbybar. Der Skikeller ist mit komfortablen Ski-Spinten ausgestattet. Im vielfach prämierter Spa der Extraklasse erholt man sich perfekt! Trotz der Corona-Auflagen haben wir eine wunderschöne Zeit von elf Tagen verbringen können. Weitere Pluspunkte, die uns angenehm aufgefallen sind, das WLAN war sehr stabil und die Belüftung und Temperierung im gesamten Haus waren optimal. Gewünscht hätten wir uns eine etwas zeitgemäßere Balkonmöblierung mit einem kleinen Tisch, damit man auch mal ein Glas abstellen kann. Ein Teebereiter wurde uns auf Nachfrage auf das Zimmer gebracht. Das La Bretza Sternerestaurant war leider bereits geschlossen, so dass der Dine-Around auf zwei Restaurants beschränkt war. Im Grand Restaurant war das Essen jeden Abend sowohl von der Auswahl als auch geschmacklich hervorragend. Wir werden den Winterurlaub in bester Erinnerung behalten. Danke an das engagierte Team.

We stayed 4 nights over Easter. We had a great stay. The access to the ski area is very easy with the hotel funicular. On the way back, you can ski all the way back to the hotel by taking the sledging path (the maps have an official piste but it's not separate and there were no signs for it), or come down with the same funicular. We had taken half board and the food was very nice, though not always "fine-dining" quality, but still a good deal for the 60CHF/person/meal. Beware that the fine dining restaurant closes around March 21st as the team moves to their other property in Ascona so there is no true fine-dining option in the hotel after that date.

This place is dramatically overpriced. The spa looks nice from the outside (and the spa is very nice inside too), but that and the Tschuggen-Bahn are the only modern things there. The good: the staff are very friendly for the most part. The ski shop downstairs is fantastic and the owners are utterly wonderful and knowledgeable. The food is of the standard you expect, and the Bahn is nice to have and makes it easy to get on the slopes. That and the shuttle buses means that it’s a good location as a skiing base in Arosa. I guess this is why it gets the business it gets. The bad. This hotel is mired in the 1980s. Being handed room keys with a quarter of a kilogram of metal as a keyring with your room number on it wasn’t a great start. The bar felt like it was from the same era - the crooner on the piano certainly kept his repertoire limited t to songs from the 70s to early 90s. Welcome drink? Ok, but don’t order anything over 20 CHF. Cheap gin: yes; but sorry, no tonic. Barman could have handled that better. The room was clean, but tired-looking. Like beginning yellowing plastic on light switches; a bathroom full of marble that looked great and premium, no doubt, when Steffi Graf was winning Wimbledon, but just a bit ancient now. Want to park your car in a garage and not in the open air? No problem. Only you won’t be told it costs 30 CHF a night until you check out. I understand that they are slowly renovating the rooms. They need to. There are other hotels in Switzerland that blow the Tschuggen Grand out of the water in terms of luxury/ room quality/ presentation for a similar price. The TGH is lucky that these hotels aren’t in Arosa.

Rooms imo not worth the money, they still seem old and way to classy. Missing bag for wellness doesn’t seem to be an issue (it certainly was for us). Nothing to drink and no snacks in the wellness area, maybe Covid related. (We got some fruits upon request.) Wellness overall very clean and inviting. La Brezza experience was stunning and we were blown away by the food and the staff. Shake salads in the restaurant named basement as well Super creative and tasty. But the burger in the basement was just a mess. None of the ‘designers’ of that dish ever thought how to eat this dish properly. Big minus overall is quality of coffee. Didn’t had a good coffee during the stay. In venues like la brezza i expect barista knowledge and some passion for coffee quality. Same with craft beer. Only one local brewery on menu. There are so many more! (We brought our own). I wish they would value coffee and beer the same way they value food & wine. We were told that the launch of ‘moving mountain ‘ was to make a sustainable move, but were served strawberries, avocado, blueberries and so on wich were not seasonal and air lifted. Would make sense I. M. O. Not to buy food wich was transported by air. It is possible. Overall we had a really great time, but the tschuggen is to stiff and old school for us.

Hier wird Gastfreundschaft gelebt, von jedem einzelnen Mitarbeiter bis zur stets präsenten Direktion. Perfekter Service, abwechslungsreiches Essen, toller Spa! Besonders empfehlen wir einen Besuch im La Brezza, Marco Campanella überrascht mit jedem Gang geschmacklich und optisch.

Wir waren schon zweimal in diesem wunderbaren Hotel. La Brezza, die Cigar Lounge und der Botta-Spa sind so genial wie die Mitarbeiter und das Management selber. Aller guten Dinge sind DREI. Wir kommen auf jedenfalls wieder. In diesem Hotel wird man auch als „normalo-Gast“ wie ein König behandelt. Apropos.. Wir konnten bei einem unserer Besuche mit Sir Harry himself in der Tschuggen Gondel hochfahren. Auch so etwas nicht Alltägliches erlebt man. Wunderbar. Es fallen mir nur Superlative ein...Vielen Dank an Herr Maissen und seinen ganzen staff.

Die fünf Sterne sind für mich überbewertet. Am Ankunftstag kann man erwarten dass uns die Hotelanlage vorgeführt wird, wurde leider nicht. In der Familie Suite für Schweizer Franken 3150 in der Nacht ist das Eltern Bett aus zwei Einzelbetten zusammen gebastelt worden, skandalös! An der Bar sehr unfreundliches Personal. Einzig positives für mein Aufenthalt hier im Hotel waren die Mitarbeiter im Restaurant der Jan, Carlo und Salvatore.

Beautiful 5 star property with all corresponding services. The hotel is very spacious. There is a shuttle that picks guests up from the main train station, as well as a private cable car that brings skiers on the slopes directly. That's pure luxury :) Great restaurant choice and nice lounge bar with live music. The spa area is also very well equipped. The view of the spa in the winter by night is simply unique.
