The seating is so narrow that our elbows touched each other. It was so loud that you almost had to scream at each other. The homemade iced tea was lousy. The waitress was confused and the ketchup we ordered never arrived at the table. We won't be coming back.

Fine food, I really like the food in the Tuchlaube, for example the various tarte flambées. Central and cozy location in Aarau’s old town. The restaurant is often very busy, reservations are recommended.

In a beautiful city like Aarau you cannot miss a place where you feel at home....

Nice spot to sit down and chat and have a drink in the summer, very popular among the locals, we can only recommend it. The ambience is also super relaxed.

Sunday brunch was small but nice...

A nice experience to see a nice play, it's small and the heat builds up in the waiting room, but it's worth being there and supporting the arts.

Always worth a visit. The Serrano ham is great. Large selection of drinks. The service was obviously not relaxed on my last visit, but still friendly. I would be happy to come back and recommend it to others.

It's pretty loud at lunchtime. Be sure to make a reservation if you don't want to sit in the farthest corner. But the service there is also attentive and friendly. The quality and appearance of the plates is excellent.

A really nice place to enjoy your coffee or drink in an amazing traditional building! Big plus is that the waiter is speaking English and is really helpful! I wouldn't recommend the cheesecake thou.

An idyllic cafe in the middle of the old town of Aarau. When the weather is nice you can also sit outside here. The interior is very friendly and chill. The cafe seems to be very popular with the locals. It was hard to find a free spot on a Wednesday morning. Unfortunately I can't judge the food. I only had a croissant. However, this wasn't particularly tasty. I liked the coffee even more. This was very excellent.

Very iconic bar in Aarau. If you love music you should come on Wednesdays. Prices are cheap and the service is very nice. The food (flambée or chicken shawarma) is super good. I can only recommend this to everyone. Outside in summer it is a highlight!

At first we were greeted unfriendly. When we got hold of a free table, the server's daughter said, "Actually, I just wanted to take a break"... so much for that. The food we ordered came after 5-10 minutes, the tarte flambée could have been IMPOSSIBLE fresh. Also a disappointment was the overpriced salad, a small bowl with 2-3 carrots on it and very little dressing. It's a shame - I'm definitely not coming back.

I really like the atmosphere and the menu. The staff in the restaurant is very nice. Only “the boss” behind the bar is pretty unsympathetic. I paid her directly with the card, she didn't ask me if I wanted the receipt so I claimed it after she had already left. She made it very clear to me that I was annoying her.

Delicious Flamkuchen and relaxed atmosphere and service. Terrace always full when the weather is nice, with limited places. Reservations recommended. Normal prices by Swiss standards, but by other European standards you will be shocked when you pay.

I have been visiting the Tuchlaube regularly for years, be it for a coffee in the afternoon or for lunch or dinner. And every time everything is just perfect: the food is always good, everyone gets it at the same time and the staff is very attentive. I also appreciate that Tuchlaube regularly has a new drinks and food menu - so you can always try something new.

The chocolate cake is great. Unfortunately it's usually sold out towards the evening.

There is fine food e.g. an aperitif platter or delicious croissants and minced meat. The restaurant was very full so service took a little longer. Overall, however, we were extremely satisfied. It is a happy place and we would love to come again.

Pleasant atmosphere with birds chirping in the toilet. However, the service left a lot to be desired. My 22 year old college colleague without a beard was forced to show his ID. He just wanted to relax and drink a rum punch. The Tuchlauben own brand beer tasted 1 to 1 like Feldschlösschen. I wouldn't be surprised if the bottles just get spilled behind the counter. When paying, the other colleague paid with cash. The waitress said: I believe you, but then counted the money anyway. To make matters worse, the urinal was also broken. There is a gap in the plastic at the bottom. Dangerous. Someone could still piss in it. The pazer tape was yellow black. But the pedestrian sign was missing.

Wait 20 minutes for a water and two glasses of wine. Then another 10 minutes for the bill.

Bar good atmosphere. Visited in the afternoon. Impeccable for a coffee or a chat with friends.

Nice people, good coffee, inside or on terrace, watching people in heart of town. And you'll feel very welcome!

We were there on Sunday March 5th, 2023 around 4:00 p.m. The cafe was full to capacity! (That speaks for itself!) The service was very attentive and friendly. We ordered the tapas aperitif platter (4 people) which was very balanced and of very good quality. We immediately ordered another one (we were very hungry;) All in all it was a very pleasant stay. We'd love to come back!

I ordered a Ramen and I got this, some kind of paste with peanut sauce and fried tofu… nothing to do with ramen. I barely could eat it.

By far the worst team. The whole atmosphere is totally disturbed because you can really feel stress behind the bar. The lovely service really made me feel sorry for working in such a team.

We've been enjoying coming here almost every Sunday for some time now to drink coffee and eat cake. We really like the atmosphere. I also always look forward to the chocolate cup that is filled with coffee cream and has been served with coffee cream for some time now :) A great solution to save plastic and is a great coffee accompaniment. The only negative point is that the lighting inside above some tables is too strong and bright. You could use slightly more pleasant light bulbs.

The food, I had the rice noodle salad with meat balls, was delicious. The only thing that isn't great is that you have to wait a really long time. And if you then order a second drink and it doesn't come and the waitress persistently avoids calling, that doesn't make the experience a highlight.

The location of the restaurant is ideal, in the middle of the old town. I was there with about 10 people and the service was very good, the service was very nice and quick. Wishes were always implemented (if possible). The reservation went well. The tarte flambées are very tasty, unfortunately a bit too small (for me). However, there is a simple solution -> order another one! On my next visit to Aarau I will definitely stop by again to eat a tarte flambée.

The Tuchlaube is very convenient for me, especially for breakfast. The restaurant is often very well attended and a reservation is certainly advantageous. The selection and quality of the food is good. Chilly atmosphere inside the restaurant.

There was space at the bar, we enjoyed beer and conversation for a few hours, the atmosphere is very relaxed. Homemade beer gives you a hangover the next day, so it's better not to take on too much.

Fast food place vibe and very very tight seating. Even the staff can't get to all the tables and guests even have to get up and make room. Not exactly recommended in times of Covid. Coffee and cake excellent.

Very friendly staff who greet you warmly even if you can't wear a mask. I think it's great that employees who can't wear a mask can also work for you. No longer a given these days. I would definitely like to come back.

In the Tuchlaube you are always served very well. There are very good drinks. 🍹🍷Breakfast is also recommended. 🥐

Instead of serving, you sit comfortably outside, smoke a cigarette and are ignored. You aren't even asked if you want something to drink.

Abgesehen davon, dass Kaffee, Tee und was weiss ich nicht alles lecker und eher grösserem Geschirr gereicht werden (deshalb auch nicht billig), geniesst man einen guten Überblick die Metzgergasse rauf. Bei schönem Wetter draussen voll und beliebt, aber auch an Regentagen/Kälte sitzt man draussen selten alleine🙂

Ein tolles Lokal, beliebter Treffpunkt unter Jugendlichen und immer viel los. Die Auswahl der Getränke ist gut und der Flammkuchen ein Highlight. Der Service ist grundsätzlich in Ordnung, aber es gibt einen sehr unfreundlichen Kellner, den wir kennenlernen durften.

Der Spezialist für Flammkuchen in Aarau. Ist immer gemütlich hier und das Personal ist immer sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist fair und die Atmosphäre in Mitten der Altstadt ist sowieso cool.
