Waldkantine in Dübendorf

The restaurant is very cozy with lots of wood and fireplaces. Great place for an aperitif with friends and family. You don't want to get up again so quickly. Staff very friendly and personable. 6 stars here. Food was generally good. Nicely prepared. Very quick from order to service (maybe we were a bit early), am impressed with efficiency. Come back.

The atmosphere is more country-western than Swiss Alps and the food is traditional but we didn't like it very much.

Original and cozy restaurant! We felt welcome from the first minute. We were a bit surprised by the “delivery time” of the food. The food should not be served during the aperitif. So the wine order didn't happen :-) ... But the trappings easily made up for it! Keep it up!!!!!

A very nicely decorated restaurant with fine food and super friendly staff. The food came extremely quickly (maybe a little too quickly less than 5 minutes after ordering!) You can't pay in cash, which I honestly don't understand.

Great place not just for young people

It used to be good, but now the service (actually the table service) has become extremely bad, even the smallest changes like a burger without salad are rejected because the kitchen is “overwhelmed”. A pity.

I encountered such attentive, motivated staff, the large restaurant was full, we felt very comfortable and received excellent service. We'd love to come back!

Cozy, rustic furnishings! Attentive, friendly staff who take their time with their guests! Little selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes! First of all, my potatoes with wild mushrooms (only with a little mushroom in a tasteless "run of the mill" sauce) didn't fill me up and didn't taste good!

The food was very good and the employees were extremely friendly and motivated. We had cheese spaetzli and raclette. The portion wasn't that big for the price, hence 4*.

I didn't expect a forest canteen at Stettbach train station. The location and ambience inside and outside were very well done, really great. Staff is on a first-name basis with guests. I ate a brisket burger, quality was top, I would have liked more briquette, I prefer meat to bread 😉

Probably the best cheese fondue I have ever eaten in a restaurant. It was very, very tasty and the portion was generous. We would also have received supplies. Definitely try it with schnitzel - super tasty. Cozy atmosphere, the staff was friendly and brought the food to our table despite self-service.

The forest canteen received a great boost with Matzo :-) The fondue mixture is a dream and the idea with the side dishes was great - he gave us great advice and we also took the Cordon Bleu inside out... Not a single regret! The ambience in the fondue parlor was also perfect. Service was great too - we'd love to come back, thank you!

Cool pub, very centrally located near Stettbach train station. Very nice, rustic atmosphere, with a great outdoor area, which is also suitable for company events! This year we held an event there with 150 employees, location, service, staff, food and drink are simply top! Again at any time, even on a smaller scale. Thank you very much for the great evenings with you!

Tried it for the first time today, but definitely not the last time, over lunchtime. My companion's veal schnitzel and my Gröstel were very good. The location also really appealed to us. In my opinion, recommended 👍

The forest canteen looks great and homely. But that was it. We had Wienerschnitzel with potatoes. Neither the meat nor the potatoes probably enjoyed any spices. Both tasted extremely bland and could only be enjoyed with a lot of ketchup. Both dishes were also just lukewarm. A big disappointment for the high price.

The restaurant is right next to The Hall concert hall. The food is quite expensive, but perhaps we had to get used to the Swiss prices. When I ordered I was offered a gluten-free goulash alternative with potatoes. However, when it arrived it had fried onions on it, which are usually made with wheat flour. When I asked in the kitchen, I was uncertainly told that they were probably gluten-free. I tried to remove the fried onions myself and then ate the dish anyway. I didn't have any stomach problems. The ambience was nice and very pleasant with the fire bowls.

The entrance could be designed a little more lovingly, but the places outside are very nice for warm summer evenings. Unfortunately there is no beer in 5dl, except for wheat. It sometimes happens that there are no wheat glasses left when there is a concert in the neighboring “TheHall”. Drinks are rather expensive (especially when self-service), but the food is in the normal price range.

Really nice place, very outsidy despite being just across a metro station. Must be fabulous during summer time. No mention on the website though when the kitchen closes, which left us with nachos for dinner after a long flight. Should be more clear. Also self service.

Beautiful place to stay but the service in the take away can be improved a lot. Getting a beer yourself can take up to 20 minutes. Please improve.

We wanted to have a drink there twice, unfortunately we didn't make it. Yes, it was during the week both times and yes it was at 10:00 p.m. both times. According to Google, always open until midnight! The first time was on Monday, when we were kindly informed that it was already closed and that the 8 or so guests were just drinking up. I should look at the homepage, it always says there when it closes early. Good! The second time was on Thursday. I looked on the homepage. OPEN was written in neon signs. Open until 00:00 This time there were probably 20 guests, the tables full of drinks. I was rejected again because it was already closed! Will never try it again. Too stupid for me. Because 1 star is only for the ambience and the idea.

Very fine food! I can only recommend hummus with beetroot fallafel, the burgers and the like also look delicious. It is better to take the Förster plate with two people. The atmosphere is modern and casual. It has a hypster style. Since it is a canteen, it is self-service. The staff is nice.

Visited this place 4x in a week and I was really happy. Nice atmosphere, great service from the bar staff who was smiling and taking time to listen to my requests. I tried the schnitzel, chicken burger, Zürcher geschnetzeltes....all tasty and fresh. Coming from other country I am used to pricy food in Switzerland but this definitely is a good ratio of price vs. Quality and taste. Greetings to headchef and boys in kitchen, thanks 👍

I had a delightful experience with my family at this restaurant close to Stettbach train station. The rustic ambiance and warm wooden decor (I saw how they built the exterior, impressive not to say the least)created a welcoming atmosphere. Although this is a self-service, the staff was friendly, making sure we had a pleasant dining experience. The menu offered a variety of dishes, and the quality of the food is good. I recommend this place for anyone looking to enjoy a delightful meal in a charming setting.

Rich and delicious brunch and lunch buffet. Absolutely recommended, we would love to come back. Very nice and friendly staff. Family-friendly restaurant but unfortunately there is no changing table.

Very great atmosphere, the service is great, all the employees are friendly and accommodating. Food was excellent, everything was fresh, especially fresh pancakes.:) What's also great is that you pay attention to food waste and you can take food with you before it's thrown away.! Will 100% come back.! :)

I went for all you can eat brunch on a Sunday. As a brunch lover, I am totally thrilled by the extensive menu (from sweet to savory, everything your heart desires), the cozy atmosphere and the super nice and courteous staff. Be sure to try the vanilla croissant! :) There are also freshly made pancakes!! I'll definitely come back. :)

A wonderful Sunday brunch with fresh bread and plaited bread. A very extensive buffet (cold and warm dishes). The atmosphere was very pleasant, the service was great!! We will be back!!

Cool location. Nice service.Good location. I found the salad bowl to be a bit too expensive for what it ended up being. The ingredients were also somewhat special - dried fruits and beans.

The location is perfect for an after-work drink. Very cozy in summer. I always go to the Waldkantine after work and am always very satisfied. Yesterday me and my colleague took the Förster Fries (I was actually served sour cream dip, but for some reason, not yesterday) and we were very disappointed. The fries had a rancid taste. We weren't feeling well later. I think you should (PLEASE) change the oil more often. I've already given the Gin Basil Smash several chances but it could be improved a few notches. He was unusually angry, much too angry. Due to the intense acidity, you can't taste the basil in the cocktail. Tastes more like lemon concentrate.

Beautiful summer garden on the edge of Schwamendingen, casual drinks menu and there is something for everyone to eat, the weekly menus are reasonably priced and the quality is top. There's also a small selection for children... we think it's great 👍🏻

Went there for dinner and a beer. The atmosphere outside is fantastic. It is beautiful to sit outside, and they really put a lot of effort into the setup. The food however was very low quality. I had the weekly burger, which was frankly one of the worst burgers I had in Zurich. Patty was low quality meat and the cheese was just cheap. Fries were ok. We had a beer with it, which was reasonably priced. Would not go for dinner again, but definitely go again for drinks.

Wonderful place to relax at the end of tram line 7! A friend and I had the pleasure of enjoying the hospitality of the Waldkantine team to the fullest yesterday night. Good selection of drinks and the finest food: The S'Förschter Plättli (...more than enough for two...) also for non-rangers is a great collection of delicious sausage and cheese all sorts to nibble through the evening. What is even more pleasing: the team is great, nice and has a heart full of hospitality!

Beautiful location with a fantastic outdoor area. 2 stars deducted because cash is not accepted. This is an absolute now go and for me also a reason not to come as a guest anymore. Cash is still the official means of payment in Switzerland.

I had schnitzels with fries, the quality and portion was good. In the middle of dinner the lovely lady offered me some extra fries which was generous. Staffs are friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was nice for lovers rendezvous with candles and wooden decorations. I liked it very much and recommend it.

After work, switch off and drink a few beers, enjoy some fine food and enjoy nature. The homemade pulled pork burger is TOP! There are vegetarian versions too! Eye candy! Fine weekly menus! Super attentive and cool staff!

Chef just came around the corner and asked if he was hungry.....Yes.....He'll do something quickly.....Thanks for that....If you google Waldkantine, the opening times at the bottom are: Dinner from 4 p.m......Nothing found on the website from when you can eat.....Please write that down correctly in both places.....n.b. Drink "Hugo" was horrible.....Not the usual one like it is made everywhere, what a shame......Please make the original recipe.....Otherwise nice place to stay......

Great Easter brunch. Apparently there is now a brunch once a month (whether it's Easter or not) we'll definitely be back.

Went for Easter brunch. Very nice buffet with lots of hot and cold items. All of the staff were very friendly and nice. Since we reserved a table, they hid a chocolate bunny in the lovely garden with our name on it. Seems like a nice spot for a outdoor meal when the weather gets a little warmer.
