Beautiful, not too big zoo. But there are a lot of animals😍 Riding a pony and riding a camel for children. Staff very friendly, from the parking lot attendant to the restaurant. Price-performance absolutely ok. We will definitely visit this zoo more often.

Price/performance too high, in our case it was overcrowded on Saturday. Parking a bit chaotic. They make an effort, which I appreciate, but if I compare it to just too expensive, it wouldn't work anymore

Very nice zoo, with lots of options for the children. Play areas, feeding, riding... Unfortunately, smoking is permitted throughout the zoo. Even outside the restaurant. That bothered me a lot. Otherwise we had a great day.

The visit was really great and it went really well with four dogs. It's just that people are becoming more and more stupid, people's intolerant nature is bad. We paid like everyone else and have the same rights... we are proud of our dog without any nagging or barking. Great dogs🫶🏻🐾👍🏻❣️

Very nice, well-kept zoo, animals also look happy, it has playgrounds and a carousel, electric cars etc... my concern: I find the food in the restaurant rather expensive for children's nuggets for 17 fr or schnitzel for 25 fr and everything comes out of the deep fryer, we left the schnitzels lying around We really didn't like it...otherwise we'd be happy and we'd rather take our own food next time. Mega great with children. Animal enclosures and playgrounds alternate. Snacks and dining options come along the circular route again and again. Bought a season ticket twice. During the week it is very quiet, on the weekend depending on the weather. In winter you can warm up briefly in the tropical house, safari house or tiger cave.

A small but nice zoo: The zoo is characterized by cleanliness and offers good value for money. The staff are exceptionally friendly and you can tell that everything is well looked after. One Saturday morning we walked through the zoo. At this time the animals are not particularly active. After an early lunch we took a second tour of the site. Now the animals were significantly more active. I like that residents have the opportunity to hide instead of just being on display. Lunch was prepared quickly and tasted excellent. I chose the beef burger with fries. The fries were nice and crispy, just as they should be. As an adult you get tired of it quite quickly, but I think you can easily spend a whole day there with children as there are lots of activities such as playgrounds. 🦁🐵🌿

It was a very beautiful evening. The food was perfect and the people were just amazing. I can only recommend the show. Monika's singing was like an angel.

Pretty little zoo. Young and old can marvel at lions, tigers, chimpanzees and much more. Physical well-being is also taken care of; with a large restaurant and several kiosks. For the little ones there is pony or camel riding and playgrounds. On Sunday you can even have brunch at the zoo. We were there around 11 a.m. on a sunny Sunday in February; The parking lot was already full, as was the road to the military parking lot. We were lucky there. But that means that you have to accept a short walk to the zoo.

Nice zoo, partly a bit old. Tiger and lion presented themselves beautifully. The staff at the Schweizer Familie Feuerstelle took a lot of time to serve the food. Projected renovations look promising.

Beautiful zoo. The animals all look happy and have a nice, large enclosure. Animal keepers are also very nice and easy to talk to. Very visitor friendly and clean. I always enjoy coming here!

It was an extraordinary experience. The rendezvous with the otters and pandas was an impressive experience. The keeper was extremely competent and gave us a lot of knowledge that you wouldn't see as a normal zoo visitor. This gives you a deep insight and suddenly understands one thing or another much better. The attitude of the animals is also exemplary... it's about the well-being of the animals, they should live as close to reality as possible, so it's also nice for visitors to look for, discover and experience them in the enclosure. A big compliment from our side.

Very nice zoo. We really liked the enclosure facilities, the additional activities (pony and camel riding, feeding and also the theater). It is also stroller friendly. The employees were also very friendly and gave great information. Unfortunately we were unlucky with the chestnuts. More than half of it was charred and there was even a moldy chestnut included:(

A really nice zoo, dogs are allowed, you can ride a camel, there is a great playground for children, there are also shows at times, there is a fleet of cars and motorcycles for children, which can be driven properly with a coin slot, and there is also an excavator.

The zoo employees seem a bit unfriendly.

The entrance fee is very expensive and exorbitant compared to larger zoos. The buildings were closed 30 minutes before the zoo closed and so we couldn't examine all the animals - very annoying for such a high price.

We went to the Walter Zoo with our class reunion and treated ourselves to Sunday brunch. It was very tasty, varied and rich. Always worth a visit.

A small zoo, but even the large animals can often be seen up close. The highlight are of course the feedable Geisli (for the little ones) 😉

The zoo is really cute. Not too big and not too small. Lots of biodiversity and lots of playgrounds/barbecue areas and places to linger. However, the restaurant is not recommended at all. Food is disgusting. For both children and adults. I'm not picky myself and neither are my children, but we had to leave almost everything behind because it really didn't taste good at all. Conclusion: Zoo again (better when the weather is nice), restaurant never again.

Very nice zoo. Many animals could be fed with the snack package purchased locally, such as: Zebras, steeds and llamas. We were able to watch many animals being fed. It was a very nice visit. Goodbye WalterZoo

Beautiful zoo, we always enjoy coming back. The animals are fine. One star deduction for the "valet service" which is very unfriendly and almost chases you out of the park even if you have to load strollers etc. Given the price of admission, it's a somewhat sobering conclusion. Yes, the job is thankless and stressful - but no reason to be so stupid.

Lovingly maintained grounds and the theater in the tent is very warmly designed and played. It's great that the children are allowed to touch so much. And the playgrounds are great too. We'll definitely go again.

Small but nice zoo with a brand new outdoor monkey enclosure and a fantastic facility for red pandas. The other animal houses are a bit old, but the zoo is constantly improving. The site is expected to be significantly enlarged in the coming years. I'm excited to see what's going to happen there. The big drawback is the parking situation. We were there on the weekend and initially couldn't get a parking space. This is much too small. It's best to travel by public transport or by bike if possible.

Just always great. Especially the bird feeding at 11am. You can go into the aviary yourself!

Very nice as usual! The zoo is highly recommended for children. The little ones can be pushed in the buggy and the older ones like to explore the complex alone. Perfect from 3 to 12 years👍 Even though it was the holidays and there were a lot of people out and about, there was never any crowding or lack of space. Clean, friendly, interesting. We recommend!

Very nice, regional, diverse zoo with plenty of playgrounds for the kids... Prices, well without a family annual pass, relatively expensive. Food options are good and there are also fireplaces for grilling the sausage you brought with you. Unfortunately the parking spaces are very limited. Arriving early is an advantage...

The zoo is very big. Many animals that you don't see in other zoos. The keepers take their time and explain something about the animals. I recommend the Walter Zoo!

We went on a Thursday afternoon, and despite it being a weekday the place was quite crowded, partly also because the zoo is rather small and you can't really avoid bumping into each other. Parking is also not easy, the parking space was full and one had to park on the side of the street and walk back quite a bit. Other than that it was a nice short trip. What i love is that you can bring your dog (without any additional fee), and the staff is also super friendly and helpful.☺️

Beautiful, well-kept zoo that invites you to linger. However, the exorbitant prices are a deterrent! Children's plate 12.-🫣 I find this a bit much for a family friendly place. What is far too much in my opinion are the Olma bratwursts which cost 7.50 😅 It would be really nice there, but after a visit with children or relatives you would unfortunately be poor afterwards.

Nice, clean zoo with lots of animals. Unfortunately there is no hedgehog care station! visible. For a family with two/three children over 4 years old, plus food in the restaurant, very expensive fun.

Service in the restaurant next to the savanna house was bottom drawer. (07.10.23) I ordered two burgers with fries. 2 burgers came with only 1 fries. 1 burger was ordered plain and both burgers came with everything. The employee said nature burger means without fries... I don't know if both employees were having a bad day but the service was unpleasantly rude. After the burger was brought to our table, the employee raised both hands and said scornfully “here is your natural burger without sauce with salad”. My son, 8 years old, accepted the burger in horror. Bad experience. We were at the Walter Zoo for the first and last time. It's a shame our day trip was marred by this experience. I don't believe in “the customer is king”. But I think it has to be the case that customers are served on an equal footing and that was certainly not the case.

This zoo used to be one of my favorite places. With the redesigned enclosure it has become even more interesting. A lot can be observed and experienced, from exotic to native animals. The small kiosks or the restaurant provide food. Of course, self-caterers are also welcome; there are well-maintained picnic areas with fire pits at their disposal. Suitable for adults and children.

My visit to the Walter Zoo in Gossau SG was a true adventure. The wide variety of exotic animals in lovingly designed enclosures fascinated me. I found the interactive experiences such as feeding the giraffes, which made it possible to experience animals up close, particularly impressive. The animal shows and feedings were not only entertaining but also educational. They offered interesting insights into the animals' behavior and lifestyle and emphasized the zoo's important commitment to nature conservation. The cleanliness and maintenance of the facility were exemplary and the café offered a wide selection of delicious food and drinks. The Walter Zoo is not only a place for entertainment, but also for education and nature conservation. It's perfect for family trips and animal lovers of all ages. This visit deepened my appreciation for wildlife and I look forward to my next visit to learn and experience even more.

Always worth a visit. Beautiful facilities and a good variety of animal species to observe and marvel at. If you have any questions, there is always someone nearby who can give you good explanations. There is also a lot on offer for children and so we can spend the whole day here.

The Walter Zoo is beautifully designed, has lots of play opportunities for children, and there is a petting zoo with goats. Many enclosures have been redesigned and enlarged or converted 🥰 we love being here.

Great zoo with lots of play and feeding opportunities (zebra, horses, goats, camels and much more) for young and old. Food in the zoo restaurant is very fine. There are also various stations throughout the park with snacks, drinks and sweets. Brunch is also recommended. Price-performance is great. The only disadvantage is the lack of space if you come with smaller children.

Unfortunately it didn't meet our expectations! The animals don't have enough space to run around, almost none were visible yet! The price is also too high 25.-AHV 20.- Only valid on Monday!!!!! The prices for 2 bratwursts and Mütschli, 4 Drinks plus, ketchup and mustard 33..-Fr. too high! We're not coming anymore!
