I was there today for a birthday party and really the food was amazing. I especially loved the wine soup the flavours were just perfect. I also loved the homemade schaumwein that we had for apero. The service was extremely attentive and friendly. I was happy to discover this place for thr first time and can't wait to go back. Many thanks

Fascinating location, great service, very tasty food. We ordered saddle of venison which was tender and came in 2 courses prepared 2 ways. The only negative point of the evening was the apple and celery soup. It tasted neither like apple nor celery. Overall, definitely 5 stars.

Lovely medieval castle with a real original moat. It is well cared for and open for fine dining. I attended a summer theater production which was held in the downstairs event space. The interior amenities are modern and elegant, while the structural atmosphere remains that of a castle. Definitely worth a visit.

A really nice little moated castle. We only took a quick look at it as we drove through. It is certainly a wonderful event location.

My husband's birthday dinner. Nice contact in advance regarding reservation. Friendly welcome and nicely set table. So far everything is good. Relatively small map - but it wasn't relevant to us. Starter good, although a bit expensive. Main course not at all ok. We ordered meat medium/rare. It was served medium/well done. After complaining, the entrecote came extremely thin, tough through and through with fibers that were not edible and bloody (better than done but not as ordered). The side dishes: pasta soft, overcooked and cool, portion very lean, tomato cold and also the 2 mushrooms. The polite, friendly reactions from the waitress, the cook and the boss were positive. As a courtesy we received dessert for free. Nevertheless, the price level is disproportionate to the quality of the food (without dessert 198.50!) Open wine (good though) 1/2 liter 51.00! The relevant information from staff would have been necessary in advance. Conclusion: nice location but unfortunately not worth the money.

Beautiful location with very friendly staff and a castle lord who always tries to make the impossible possible. Perfect for a wedding, attending a castle festival or simply for a fine dinner.

Magnificent and beautifully renovated castle with restaurant.

A historical place near Amriswil: Hagenwil Castle was first mentioned in 1264 in connection with a knight Rudolf von Hagenwil. It has been owned by the Angehrn family for over 200 years and is now in its seventh generation. It is in excellent condition and has been restored several times. The castle and a small circular path around it can be used free of charge. Various rooms can be viewed in the castle. The rooms can also be rented for events or weddings. The castle is home to a restaurant that offers excellent cuisine. There is also a small castle shop opposite. There are still animals to admire at the parking lot.

We have known the moated castle for a long time and enjoy eating in the restaurant because they always have incredibly fine, regional and seasonal dishes on the menu. A few weeks ago we were able to celebrate our wedding in the Hagenwil moated castle and it was simply perfect! The entire team is super friendly, helpful, uncomplicated and loving before, during and even with any concerns after the wedding. The food and drinks were also fantastic, but that's all we're used to from the moated castle! Our guests all felt very comfortable and also raved about the nice service staff. Thank you for this unforgettable day!

This medieval castles sits in the Hagenwil village ,it's surrounded by a lake it was even has a elevation bridge ! It's really gorgeous , looks like it was restored but not intended as museum but as restaurant ,that's where it kinda failed to me ,because I was expecting to visit the castle as museum ,you can cross the bridge ,enter and visit some surrounding but that's all ,this castle really looks nice and from a distance makes some great landscape photos ! Immediately arriving the castle you will find a large parking space ,plenty of space . Did not see one for bikes ,the access is easy for wheelchairs .

The moated castle acts as a special place in itself. This type of construction is usually found in flat landscapes, such as Westphalia. It's worth walking around the castle.

Very nice and highly recommended. In a rustic style with the castle as the basis but presented in modern chic. Tablets as menus are very innovative! 😉. Child-friendly and nice service. Be sure to reserve. Price/performance is 100% right.

A wonderful wedding location, no wonder it is one of the most beautiful wedding locations in all of Switzerland. We were able to celebrate the civil wedding and a week later the free wedding in Hagenwil Castle and what can I say...everything was perfect from A to Z. Andi Angehrn and his entire team put a lot of passion into looking after the guests. We were particularly impressed by the calmness of the lord of the castle; we simply knew in advance that everything would work out and this was very valuable during the stressful preparation period. The interaction with the bride and groom was personal and extremely professional. We can highly recommend Hagenwil Castle as a wedding location! 😍

Beautiful moated castle in such an environment. The restaurant in the castle cellar is unique and impressive. It is ideal for a special event, such as my granddaughter's fairytale wedding, which we recently celebrated in the Hagenwil moated castle. Very fine food and the service was very friendly and attentive. We recommend!

Went on April 23rd. 22 last time there. Back then, food was law. The roasted Gitzib was tasty and not braised enough. We celebrated my wife's birthday and it was okay. Yesterday's party, my mother's 80th birthday, was great! Just the food: the cheese flatbread for the aperitif was not baked enough, the crispy fish for the starter was not fried enough and the pork fillet was supposedly good, with a core temperature of 58 degrees. In my opinion, 4 degrees too little. It's a shame, the food left a lot to be desired. But the festival was great! Hagenwil Castle has to be careful that it doesn't become a factory. But we would like to come back and hope that it gets better. Thomas Risi Waldkirch

We celebrated our wedding in the moated castle on July 16, 2022. First there was an aperitif in the courtyard and then dinner was in the castle hall. The whole ambience and surroundings are beautiful. Our wedding meal was very tasty, from the starter to the main course and the dessert buffet. Our guests also praised the food and everyone enjoyed it very much. From planning to the celebration, everything went smoothly. The castle owner, Mr. Angehrn, and his team are very friendly, helpful and courteous. Thank you very much for everything. We had a wonderful, unforgettable party in the moated castle and would love to come back

We drove past there on our bike tour. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed. However, it looks great from the outside and we will be back.

I have been here dozens of times and always enjoy the unique scenery of the well-preserved and well-maintained moated castle. The latest renovations have been very well done. Big bravo to the team and the “castle lords” in the 7th generation. Great events and delicious food, very good service.

A very nice place. We walked past by chance while we were hiking. You can visit it free of charge and look at the different rooms. It has different halls, a castle bar 🏰, a restaurant and a small church in the castle, very nice. You can also rent the rooms for events or weddings. We would be happy to come over for dinner. Unfortunately we didn't have time for this anymore. That's why I can't rate this yet. We would be happy to come back.

Very nice moated castle, you can also feed the fish in the moat there. With a manual wheelchair and someone accompanying you, it is even possible to visit the restaurant (small elevator but doable), and there is also a barrier-free toilet. Very good food and great dessert menu. The hosts and the service are simply very, very friendly and accommodating. A very nice place, also romantic for weddings and birthdays. We'll definitely come back :)

The restaurant is normally closed on Wednesdays, but they only just opened for our party of 14, which we thought was super nice. The food tasted excellent, the staff was very friendly and the service was excellent. I can really recommend it.

It is always a pleasure to visit the various events. Food leaves nothing to be desired. Regionally oriented.
