Winterdorf in Basel

We had dinner, fondue and raclette chat with the company in the winter village. Unfortunately, for the high price per person, the sliced ​​bread for fondue had probably been prepared for a long time, it was hard, we had to use the raclette oven ourselves because we had forgotten about it so that everyone could eat together. What was also very difficult for me as an Astmahtiger, as the restaurant gradually filled up, you noticed that the ventilation was more of an illusion than it was, which soon forced me to go out the door. Unfortunately, after realizing that it was only getting worse, I decided to leave after half a fondue (since I could hardly breathe) and satisfy my still existing hunger with a pizza on the way home.

I wasn't allowed in on New Year's Eve because the club seemed to be overcrowded. The security assured me that I would get my money back. When I wrote Urs this pic an email he didn't reply. I wouldn't recommend this club to anyone...

We rented a yurt for fondue fun. When we arrived, the yurt was still bitterly cold and the two mini heaters (electric) had only been switched on recently. The tables had no decorations, no candles, nothing except plates, napkins and cutlery. There's nothing hanging on the wall and there weren't even any pillows on the completely cold chairs - there weren't even any blankets to cover up with. When asked if there were cushions for the cold chairs or blankets to cover up with, the answer was, unfortunately, not. Why can't you heat up the yurt well in advance when the outside temperature is -2 degrees? Why no pillows and blankets? Very poorly organized! We sat there with jackets on the whole time and everyone's feet and legs were freezing cold. And no, it wasn't just women, we men were cold too. Absolutely poorly organized and absolutely no ambience. The food was ok, but nothing more, but we had super friendly service. Conclusion: I can freeze without spending any money...

Really cool thing about the winter village, we went to the fondue in the gondola. It was very tasty, would be happy again. Service was also super nice and good!

Unfortunately, I can't recommend a New Year's Eve party. I would have expected at least a welcome drink or champagne to toast with entry. Drinks are also extremely expensive (8 francs for 0.33 beer?)..but I'm also used to German prices. But the location itself is cool.

We were there for the New Year's Eve party. The 40CHF entry fee didn't include a welcome drink or champagne at midnight. The prices for the drink, as expected, are astronomically high. Half of the drinks consist of ice. The music genres on the individual floors were sometimes really missed. There was a feeling that they wanted to achieve maximum margins with fairly minimal effort.

New Year's Eve party not recommended!! Far too many people, some of whom couldn't even walk because there was so much going on. Music was not maintained, there was the same music everywhere except on the “Deep & Afro house” floor

We were in the winter village as a group. The food was good, unfortunately it had to be refilled every 5 minutes. It is recommended to serve perhaps more than 5 slices of cheese for 4 people then the staff wouldn't have to refill something new with every course. The ladies and gentlemen were very friendly but very unsure. You could tweak the ambience a bit, e.g. a little more Christmassy now that there are so many Christmas parties. Unfortunately, the air was also a bit stuffy. It would be good if you could tilt a window, but you could breathe easily outside of the hats.

Great staff and the food is always fresh and top quality! We are always happy to come to you. Card payment no problem!

It's a nice funky place. On the expensive side for what amounts to bread and cheese. But if it's your thing you'll probably like it!

Had 2cm of sharp plastic splinters in the guacamole! The whole thing at a business lunch. I felt very uncomfortable spitting food and fumbling in my mouth in front of guests. Apart from “we are sorry” nothing came from the sand oasis. I paid for the meal regularly and received no compensation or attention. I will no longer go there with business guests. The GMP standards in the kitchen should bring the sand oasis into shape!

Great place with awesome vibe. Atmosphere was great. Such a cool experience to chill on a sand with amazing food and drinks. There is a spot to improve though, food and drinks order lines were a bit long and it’s impossible to align the orders as you have to do those in 2 separate places.

Poor value for money, no table service, dirty and wet seat mats, soggy menu. The food itself was good but too expensive, fries were ok (some were fried too long). The glass of the cocktail was not filled completely. For the price I would expect more. I generally expected more. Even the tables that weren't in the sand are far too low to eat a burger or a sandwich. The sandwich is beautifully decorated and tastes good, but you almost can't eat it without all the contents flying out and you get back pain because the tables aren't suitable for eating. There is also a charge for parking...it was probably my first and last visit.

Cleanliness at the end of the summer season (stains on all seat cushions, dirty tables, previous guests' dishes not put away) and service (no service at the table, you have to fetch everything yourself and pay directly) unfortunately leaves a lot to be desired for the price. But I found the food very tasty. The staff were friendly 👍

Bringing the beach feeling to Basel. Located at the Rhine just next to Dreiländereck, this place offers a nice outdoor beach feeling, good drinks and yummy food. Especially recommended: virgin piña colada with its homemade coconut syrup.

Nice place but waited 90 minutes for our food.

It is a very unique place for gatherings and friends. It has this sandy floor which is heaven for small kids, the food is definitely above Basel average and the drinks are ok, there is music as well thugh you can not hear it like in a club from the ground floor. But the atmosphere us fantastic for sure👍🏻👍🏻 will certainly visit again and again and…..:)

An original beach bar environment at the end of a peninsula between the Rhine and the Basel docks by the monument at the meeting point of Switzerland, France and Germany (Dreiländereck). It can be reached from central Basel on tram #8 to Kleinhüningen then a short walk down the river. You order drinks and food at the bar and can then relax at the tables on the sand overlooking the river.

An incredible place to go out, because it is located on the banks of the Rhine River, on the triple border of Switzerland, Germany and France. From the terrace there is a view of all three countries at once (that is, of the nearby places in them), and the bar itself is designed in the style of beach bars, and as an evocation of that, sand is sprinkled all over the bar. Chairs and tables (made from pallets and wooden crates), as well as hand-made bar tables and chairs, are in accordance with this. I noticed that some of the guests use the terrace for sunbathing, and for those who don't like exposure to the sun so much, there is also a covered bar in the style of tropical beach bars and plenty of seating. French fries are excellent, and there is also a large selection of drinks. Highly recommend!

The sand oasis in Basel really impressed me on my first visit. The location is simply beautiful. It is located in the middle of the border triangle and offers a pleasant atmosphere that immediately invites you to relax. The entire area is very well maintained and harmoniously designed. The clean sandy areas and surrounding plants create a natural oasis for chilling. The staff is extremely friendly. The combination of sand elements and modern furnishings gives the restaurant a unique character. It was definitely a nice change from the traditional restaurants I've been to. I can fully recommend the Sandoase Restaurant. It is the ideal place to enjoy a meal in a unique ambience.

although we was surprised by a heavy storm, we spent a very good time in sandoase. the snack is nice and the mood and ambiance is unique for basel. pure holiday-feeling. the bar is located close to the rhine river at the port of basel. you‘ll have a beautiful view to the french side and the passerelle des trois pays, connecting huningue and weil am rhein. sandoase is a bit outside the city, you will have to walk but it’s worth it.

The place has a nice atmosphere, with its sandy floors and palm trees you don’t feels that you are in Switzerland. The food was very good and abundant even if a bit pricey (even for Switzerland). Cocktails are ok, but I got 2 times a wrong order and I got charged more than what I would have paid.

Unfortunately I am very disappointed. We have another journey and have now come here for the second time and each time the Sandoase has “closed parties” or other private events. It's quite disappointing and annoying to drive so far every time only to end up being sent away. Unfortunately, the “announcements” are always only announced shortly beforehand, although one should have known earlier that the sand oasis would be closed for an entire event that day? 😅😅 Last time it was at 3 p.m., today “fairly” at 12 p.m. I assume that if nothing is announced the day before, the oasis is open normally. It's unpleasant having to refresh the page every hour to see if it's a "success".

Been there for a wedding. There was only a small amount of food, but what they served was simply great. A small mango, you can see that the furniture is getting a bit old.

Biggest rubbish to get there. First you stand in a queue of cars, only to find out that you need an access permit. Then you go ahead and get them. Lines up again only to be told there is no parking. Why don't you say that directly? A lot of time wasted for nothing. This can be organized better. In any case, I won't be able to come back any time soon

The idea is good, BUT the execution is bad for queuing for 45 minutes for a beer & a coke. sorry, that's an absolute no go. There are tripping hazards on the terrace. 9 out of 10 people fail because of this paragraph. Unfortunately I can't recommend this place to anyone. And that in Basel!
