za'atar in Zürich

Went here for dinner during the week. We arrived a little early, which wasn't a problem. Very friendly service, the food was served quickly and was very tasty!

My first experience with Lebanese food. We were a group of around 20 people and the restaurant was otherwise very well attended. Nevertheless, the waiting time was short, the staff was very friendly and the food was a culinary delight.

First time at Za’atar, but definitely not the last time! The food was freshly prepared and excellent! Za’atar lived up to its name: every dish had a very special touch. The staff welcomed us as if we were invited to dear friends. The restaurant is small and simple, but warm and you just feel comfortable! A must for anyone who likes Lebanese food and appreciates authentic, warm hospitality! - - - - - - First time there but definitely not the last! The food was super fresh and just excellent - each dish has something special! The staff welcomed us as if we were invited at good friends. The restaurant is small and simple. But the wooden decoration with some little details such as flowers on the tables make it very cozy. The authentic warm aura of the owner and staff and your surrounding welcomes you to stay and relax and enjoy some real home cooked food. A must for anyone who likes the Lebanese cuisine and appreciates authentic and warm hospitality.

Stay away…save your money…whatever you do, just don’t order humus-beiruti CHF 26 is a sham…OR, Kamounet-Banadoura…the owner is unprofessional scammer and his staff are partners in crimes….the food is unappetizing…this is NOT what Lebanese food is like…this food had never been to Lebanon.. Shot this freakin sham restaurant down.

This restaurant was pre booked for a large party of 14 to celebrate my daughter’s 21st birthday, one of the party had a gluten intolerance and was advised that this was not an issue. After waiting approx 45 mins for our orders to be taken it was about 5 mins into the meal when my daughters friend had an allergic reaction which meant that the food she was told was gluten free was either not so or contaminated this resulted in her having to leave straight away which ruined the celebrations. The food was mediocre, we were served cold bread, overcooked chicken and a weird variety of Meze platters. The server stated he was on his own and did apologise for the delays, we asked for the bill 5 times, but surely if you knew there was a large party booked then you would make sure there were enough staff working. There didn’t seem to be much concern regarding the gluten incident despite the fact that this was quite serious. I had high hopes for the meal and was sadly left very disappointed and it ruined the start of the night.

We made a special reservation and were ignored and left standing at the door. Then they left again. Very impolite.

The two of us ate there with a Smartbox and were very, very satisfied! Service top! (One looks for such kindness for a long time). Food top! We ordered a mezze platter and the quality was amazing!! I can really recommend the restaurant! Come again!

This is a wonderful Lebanese restaurant with great value for money! The host and owner of the restaurant is very friendly and even if you request a table at short notice, he often makes the impossible possible! The restaurant is also very centrally located, a short distance from Zurich's main nightlife area. I would be happy to come back at any time!

according to google reviews I went there to pick up some food for dinner, I asked for chicken options for my kids with some fries , the gentleman recommended a mazze with chicken skewers,while i was waiting they give me 2 manakish complmentry, I went back to pickup the food exactly 2 chicken and 5 different mezze we don’t eat most of them , the food doesn’t worth the money I have paid at all, the maze taste either salty or spicy, I don’t recommend this place , save your money.

We had our club Christmas dinner at Za’atar restaurant. It may be a bit cramped for a large group (24 people), but it is a very cozy atmosphere and the employees work with a lot of passion and joy. The food was fantastic, the best falafel we've ever had and the rest was really good too. I can only recommend it as the best Lebanese restaurant in Zurich!

Wonderful, cozy restaurant with great service and yummy mezze! My friend and I split the vegetarian option and it was plenty enough. The staff were great and the service was quick and efficient. I would definitely recommend and would go back myself!

This is definitely a place you should NOT come if you want to be happy. Really bad service, rude waiter, not-worthy food with expensive price. They even didn’t ask me which currency for payment and charged me more fees which I realized later. Really bad. Grilling is fine, the sauce looks good, but the taste is average. The drinks are just okay too. However, it must be emphasized that the service is very poor. The tall waiter speaks and acts in an unpleasant manner. In cold weather he even refused to rearrange the tables inside for us. I won't come back and won't recommend it to my friends either.

I have to be honest and say I don't really understand the good reviews, the food was really overpriced, wasn't filling and was also cold. We ordered a grill plate and it consisted of two meat skewers..

A wonderful restaurant with its unforgettable, classic atmosphere, where the warm yellow lighting, wooden furniture, and candle lights give a special feeling. The people in charge of the restaurant are very friendly and courteous, especially Bakr (Egyptian). If I return to Zurich, I will definitely do it again. All the best to them...

Ordered a mezza for 2 people, good food but very little, more of an appetizer. Paid the equivalent of almost €90. When we said something about it, the owner insisted that this is how it is and did not want to solve it or make us satisfied.

Anyone who knows mezze will like it. In terms of price, I find the meat variants a bit too expensive. If you just want to get to know mezze and have a good mix, then a vegetarian platter for two is enough. It has enough to eat. The two beers are delicious. Sitting outside is pleasant in summer, but inside it doesn't feel very special.

At lunchtime, shortly before the kitchen closed, we received a bag with a 2-person menu for just under 100k Stutz. It wasn't anything special and wasn't what we ordered. Unfortunately we didn't notice it until too late. There were also no napkins or cutlery available.

Nice service, lively rustic atmosphere!...but...even though I made a reservation two weeks in advance, they tried to sell us the cat table at the pass half in the storage room Of the two open wines, one wasn't available... the other was served so warm that we had to order ice cream The dumplings and cream cheese were absolutely tasteless Ordered wine again after an hour and of course it was still warm... The tabbouleh didn't have any bulgur in it, it was out or forgotten but it doesn't matter, the guests swallow everything right? Like almost everywhere in Switzerland...high price, mediocre quality...ripoff In the end you pay 110 Chf for a few dezis of warm wine and a few crumbs of vegetables

The restaurant canceled my reservation an 1h before. Passed in front: not close not full …

We took an early table using FORK, which enticed us with a 50% discount. When we arrived, we were told that this was an error and that we would only receive a 20% discount. They blamed FORK for the error. This would have been fine, however, the CHF Fr.65 “meat platter” we ordered contained no discernible meat, and the portion could not have cost more than CHF 10 to create. The flavors were good, it simply was a horrible value for money. Fr.100 for Lebanese food in a restaurant near the Langstrasse is exorbitant.

Absolutely warm, loving and humorous service. 💕 Extremely well-attended restaurant (we would strongly recommend booking) ✌🏾 The food was very tasty and like mother's, good home-style mezze without a lot of fancy 🥰 For all HIT (histamine intolerant) people, the Zaatar restaurant definitely does NOT use rapeseed oil for cooking!!! 👍🏽🙏🏾👍🏽🙏🏾 . The oil now determines the quality of the kitchen ✌🏾

Terrible experiance!!! I reserved a table via the fork app and once I arrived, I have been informed (in a very rude way) that it must have been a mistake and there is no table for me and basically the discount from the app is not possible. It was a clear mistake from the restaurant (even admitted by the person) but he did not care to apologize... on the contrary, I have never been treated so badly in any restaurant ever.. mistake can happen but the way how it was communicated and how mistreated I was in the whole situation is unacceptable.

Can`t judge the food but judging the shady business practices. We booked our table using TheFork and My friend whom I went to the restaurant with was concerned about the deal, since his last 2 visits to the restaurant always came with issues regarding the bill. We asked the man serving us about the deal and he said everything was ok, then a second man came and said the deal they offer is only for 20% off, even though TheFork and my confirmed booking from the restaurant had 50% off our meals. This lack of transparency put us off, and we left the restaurant. I would advise someone going to this restaurant to clarify prices, or deals that you may book with, because looking at other reviews on TheFork, it is clear that this restaurant draws clients in with these deals and then when the bill comes they do not honour the deals. Quite unacceptable!!!

The food is fine and staff are very friendly. The prices are very high for what you get though. The skewer/shawarma dish costing 35 CHF in the photos from the past reviews is now 45 CHF! Even 35 CHF was somewhat expensive compared to other Lebanese restaurants.

We had a lovely experience! Their Kibbeh is hands down the best I‘ve had in Zurich. The Mujaddara, Hummus and Tabboule were also delicious. Another reason to recommend is the welcoming atmosphere of the small restaurant built by the sweet decoration and the very friendly staff. I hope to go back soon!

This is the worst restaurant i have ever gone to, the price on the menu was 19.50 we ordered two plates he charged me double the price . The lamb smells so bad . It was a robbery. I personally do not suggest this restaurant to anyone

I've been there several times and always had great food. The service and the entire staff are very courteous, nice and personable. Best falafel I've ever eaten. I'll be back! Calls were always answered within the room hour. Never experienced anything so sympathetic!!

It's a Lebanese Restaurant in a cozy place. The food is delicious. They give huge portion of salad. The Falafel is crunchy on the outside but soft inside. For Indonesian it's almost similar to Perkedel with more herbs. And the minced meat (i don't know the name in menu) is great, both taste and the portion size. They open on lunch time until 2pm and they open again at 6 pm for dinner. But special case for us who came little bit late, they are waiting until we finish all meals.

Looks like a family managed place. Really good place to share a bite with friends, authentic swiss furniture style from 80's? to get an authentic Libanese in zurich city. You will not regret your stop. if you are in a rush, you might come another day.

The food was great but even though we ordered together half of it came an hour later... Which is something that can be avoided.. Right? If you want to eat hours apart between every person this might be the best place for it!
