We were there for dinner yesterday. And a little disappointed. When I asked if they could fry the completely liquid scrambled eggs in the Nüssler salad for me, the waitress said that this was not possible. I could have the salad without eggs. I paid the price for Nüsslersalat with egg. Then came the Wiener Schnitzel. Half was soaked in fat and soggy. We reported this to the waitress. There was no answer. The food is very good. The preparation and presentation are wonderful. But somehow it doesn't feel like a restaurant with 15 points to me, so I would have perhaps expected a little more creativity with the menus. The wine list was very extensive. You can find everything from good, inexpensive bottles to more expensive pieces. The service was again wonderful too. Super friendly, attentive and very keen to make the guests have a good time! In my opinion, the price/performance here is excellent.

Today the two of us are having lunch at old Stephan's. Our order was two times the lunch menu with three courses and one drink each. The staff was extremely friendly and competent. The food was delicious for both of them. So why the bad rating? With all due respect, the portions that were served were exceptionally small. So small that we went home to eat after the three courses. The only difference was that we were exactly 150 francs poorer. We eat out quite often, but we have never seen such an outrageously small portion at such an overpriced price.

Went there recently and is was not a good experience. The food arrived very late, took over 90 minutes, and was not of the best quality. We ordered the fondue and the veal sausage and both were of sub-standard. The staff ignored us, possibly due to the embarrasement of the wait time, which meant that we were not offered drinks often while waiting. The outdoor seating was the only nice bit about it.

I am very confused about all the positive reviews. We went last night with very high expectations for a gourmet meal, I finished with a very bad stomach ache. I had pumpkin soup and the Irish filet steak. Both dishes seemed to have some soya-like ingredient, very salty with an awful aftertaste. The spinach was well overcooked, far from being fresh. The Pinot Noir seemed to be off, I had to order another wine. We did not have a dessert as the list seemed to have just sorbets and ice cream with alcohol, not at all what I expected from a top restaurant in Solothurn. On the plus the service by the very young waitresses was good hence 2 stars.
