Delicious food, friendly staff, and amazing atmosphere. Ate there two nights, had the cordon bleu, which is huge, and the sausage. Both delicious.

The seabass cheese rice is delicious, and the cheese pot is quite alcoholic; the overall meal is on the salty side, and it's a very delicious meal.

Atmosphere is great. At its balcony overlook the famous icon bridge and tower at Luzern. A sunny day could also see Mt. Pilatus at the backdops with its ranges. Tried Cheese Fondue & coffee. Both were great but service were slow (waited 45 minutes to place order) as it was Sunday with fewer workers, i supposed. But workers were not rude although they were busy.

We have been to the Pfistern restaurant several times. Especially because of the cheese fondue. We still had space on the balcony. As soon as we sat down we had to get seat mats; the blankets were over the armrests and some of them were wet. We ordered a cheese fondue for two, wine and water. The fondue arrived within 5 minutes, which made us a bit suspicious. Not even ready-made fondue is ready that quickly. The quantity was never calculated for 2 people. Far too little and far too bland!!! I imagine spicy mountain cheese differently. So we had to order something again. I can't say whether the supplement was 200g. In my opinion not so much. It took 30 minutes for the supplement to arrive. The waiter must have forgotten the order. We are really very disappointed!!! The fondue cost CHF 71.— plus supplement CHF 7.— PS: you can buy 800 g fondue at Pfistern for CHF 28.— (what an irony) Unfortunately I can't give any recommendations.

The cheese fondue isn’t for anyone. Asian really cannot finish it as everyone got 330g cheese and the minimum order is 2 people. The cheese taste fine but around finishing half of it, it is too fulfilling and no way to eat it anymore. Recommend to try somewhere you can order portion for 1 instead.

RACIST. Avoid if you are ASIAN. Should have read all the other reviews before coming here. We were ignored for 20 minutes after asking for the menu twice. And the waiters were disrespectful and kept running away from us. We had to walk out because they had no intention of serving us. Absolutely disgraceful.

Food is good. Cheese is more salty. Servers are always occupied and take more time to respond. Receptionist is rude and arrogant. So if you can ignore him than rest it is the best experience to be there.

Restaurant is centrally located and easy to reach. The menu is clear, prices are in the upper midfield. Facilities are okay for me, with two seats by the window they were nice but a bit cramped. It is popular with tourists and serves typical Swiss dishes.

We had fondue on the terrace and were very impressed! Our choice: Mushroom fondue (No. 2), bread and potatoes are already included, pickles and pearl onions were a very suitable extra. It was very delicious! My companion didn't like cheese fondue until now (at least what that means in Germany), but the experience at Pfistern has turned that into the opposite today! Thank you! The service was quick, nice, friendly. The warm cherry stone pillow is a nice plus. Since there were actually 100 (!) different fondue variants to choose from and also different menu options, it was a good idea to study the menu in advance.

Bum club like most Lucerne restaurants, poorly trained - and probably paid - employees, etc. etc. Food ok; just go there if you don't care about the time...

Really enjoyed our evening at Pfistern. Fondue for 4, inside, on a chilly winter evening was perfect. We usually do fondue at another establishment, but, it was fully booked. As often happens, our scramble for a new place resulted in a very happy find. Ambiance was lively and friendly. Everyone in the near full restaurant seemed to be having a great time. The fondue was exactly as it should be. Copious bread and potatoes, good choice of fun desserts. What's not to love. And now our problem is deciding between our old favourite, and our new favourite.

I reserved a balcony seat online and visited, was quickly informed, and the view was the best. For food, I ordered Lucerne's traditional food, Zugelipastete, one portion of fondue, and rösti. I ordered the original version of fondue with wine, but I didn't feel any greasiness, and maybe because I'm a cheese fan, I enjoyed it very much!! The rösti was salty, but I enjoyed it, and the pastete was good because it had a unique appearance and taste. I drank a wine with a picture of Hustern on it, and it was low in tannin and fruity, so it was easy to drink and delicious. Non-smokers should note that smoking is allowed outdoors.

Incredible meal we had with the fondue + rosti + sausages. This had the 2 of us stuffed, fondue is surprisingly hearty. Very near the river but we ate inside since it was quite rainy outside. Lunch time on a weekday and there was no queue. Excellent service as well, our waitress was really nice. Honestly I'm not sure if the fondue was "top-tier", but for normal tourists like us, it certainly was a great experience. <3

Expensive fondue fast food. You will be sent away in the rain if you show up half an hour in advance as reserved even though everything was and remained free. Worst experience in Lucerne. Tourist trap. Stay away!

This restaurant has 2 seats. One space outside on the ground floor and one space on the first floor. On the ground floor there are only fondue dishes and a few other small dishes. But on the first floor there will be even more dishes that are very suitable for fine dining. That's why we decided to eat on the first floor. The restaurant area is cozy for pre-Christmas celebrations, but a bit small. Enthusiastic consulting service providers. Delicious, clean food and a wide selection of drinks. The toilet will probably be decorated for Christmas. The price is quite expensive but worth the experience. After enjoying it, we went to the first floor to eat more fondue. Here the style is very diverse, you can mix many different varieties to get a fondue pot that is unique to you. You will also receive a bag of potatoes to eat with your fondue order. This special potato bag retains heat for a long time, so you always have warm potatoes. The special potato taste is very aromatic and is accompanied by some crispy potato peel.

Very unfriendly employees never again

The employees in the winter forest are very unfriendly!! They make you wait and are very cheeky. Unbelievable that nothing is being done!

My friend from USA and myself tired this restaurant after recommendations. 4 of us went to experience it. Honest from bottom of heart, you can give a skip. You can have better food elsewhere in Lucerne. Service is extremely poor especially with a middle aged male server who behaved that diners need them more than they need to give service! I feel that the male server is racist on Asians and do not think its a good restaurant for Asians!

Overall rating 3/5 for our experience at the end of Oct season. Food 3/5 - We stopped by to try local food as recommended by friends - so we ordered the Chalbsgschnatzlets & Riesigi Buurebratwurst - food was tasty but not good value. Service 3/5 - When we arrived at the Restaurant, they didn't appear to have our booking on the system even though we had stopped by that afternoon to make a reservation. Regardless, they were able to provide us with a table. It appears to be common practice for Restaurants to charge CHF4 for tap water - it should really be free like it is everywhere else in the world. However, kind of our waitress to let us know. Atmosphere 3/5 - we ordered, ate & left within 30mins (I made the mistake of requesting a table outside on the balcony in the evening... so we didn't stay for very long). Had it been during a warmer time of the year, I would have given this spot a 5/5.

Great cheese fondue, salads, and bread

Good evening, I would like to add my impression of the establishment. We couldn't get into this place for 2 days in a row, everything was always busy, I told my husband that it must be very tasty here, and on the 3rd day we booked a table for 3 people. We were not greeted warmly; it felt like you had come to visit when you were not expected. The staff at this establishment are not at all friendly towards people. We were shown to a table for 2 people, although the reservation was for 3, my son was delayed.. Then the administrator offered another table, fortunately.. There were 2 waiters, a guy and a girl. A girl served us, after they brought us the menu, we couldn’t choose quickly, so we asked for a minute, then catching the waiter was another case, we were ignored... the waiter (guy) walked by and smiled and did not react at all... we waited for the girl and received our order.. What a pity that there is no photo .. it’s a fried potato cake (I’ve already eaten it and I know it’s delicious) and meat with mushrooms (on one half of the sauce there was some kind of foam similar to saliva, as if they had spat on a plate, on the other half there was a homogeneous sauce , it all looked very disgusting, but after trying the potatoes I realized that I wouldn’t eat it, the taste was of chlorine, perhaps the potatoes were spoiled.. I’m talking about the taste... I wanted to ask them to bring me something else, but the waiter again ignored me and didn’t even raise her head. The husband asked the guy to be a waiter, but he said that she was serving 10 tables and, as if wait, he smiled sweetly and walked away... We realized that we would go to another place for dinner... asked for the bill, explained that we didn’t like it, they didn’t understand, I understood that this is the norm there... We paid 100 francs and will never go there again! They just work for the flow...

Bienz restaurant was open on 23 Oct. I had initially called and asked for a reservation for only 1 person . They said they could not guarantee, but I could try to walk in. As it had good reviews on Google, I took my chance and walked in. The lady at the bar was not welcoming when I asked her if they had a table for 1 person. She was so rude that she didn't even accompany me to seat me. Just indicated your table is in that direction. When it came taking the order , the lady said she couldn't speak English, which put me in awe that such a popular restaurant in Lucern Town snd and staff can't converse in English. After the food was served,no one came to check in if everything was alright. The dish that I ordered contained vegetables, which were hard and not steamed properly. Plain boiled pasta was served, which was horrible. In all this restaurant's service, food is absolutely horrible. Not recommended. It's a shame on Swiss hospitality.

Very unfriendly service, when asked about the fondue (quantity, bread) there were very curt answers and the waiter said he had to explain x times a day. Service inefficiency. Drinks were brought by two people. Order was implemented incorrectly, instead of a glass of wine a whole bottle was brought. Bread for fondue not fresh. When reordering bread, the bread was simply placed from a basket into our basket with just our unwashed hand. The toilet probably hasn't been cleaned in a while. Floor sticky. The bottle of wine that was not ordered (70 francs) was still charged for in the final bill. Employee also complained about his boss In summary, definitely the first and last time.

Unfortunately I was very disappointed. Service was extremely unfriendly and complained to us. Very unprofessional. Fondue was ok, but unfortunately the bread wasn't particularly fresh. (Was touched with bare hands). We were overcharged for a bottle of wine. Service ended up complaining about the employer. What can I say? It was a tragedy.

Ambiance with strong odor and very confusing waiter service. Waitress who serves in the balcony area, very rude…or rather, UNEDUCATED! Avoid this restaurant. We spoke to the supposed manager of the place who said he was sorry but nothing could be done. 🤬There are others that are much better and with fantastic service. Recommendation: Schiff (perfect) ✅👏

The food is super good. Although the prices are higher, they are justified with the quality. The atmosphere with the many Zuft coats of arms is also very nice. The service left a lot to be desired for us: the staff were not very attentive and on several occasions didn't notice that we had nothing left to drink.

We received normal food and bad service

It couldn't be more unfriendly. If you just want to have a drink as a couple, you will be immediately asked to leave. The reason is supposed to be that it is dining time and so you only occupy the table to have something to drink, which generates less sales than if you were to eat something. To put it simply, you are not welcome in this restaurant if you don't want to spend more money than drinks cost for two people. The statement was: "I don't have a table for people who just want a drink." We then went a little further to the “Schiff” restaurant. We were served very friendly there despite the fact that we just wanted something to drink. But we ate something later which was very good. Conclusion: “Pfistern” is definitely to be avoided. You are not welcome there as a human being, but are only seen as a source of money and even then discriminated against as good or bad.

My wife and teenage son and daughter dined here. The food was excellent. There are two types of fondue, with and without alcohol. With alcohol was strong, but still flavorful. Wife and didn't like it. Ordered without alcohol, a different flavor but still excellent. I had the roasted chicken. Oh...delicious! Very. Wife said the pumpkin soup was very good. And son ordered thr sausage, and it was excellent. It's a bit pricey. But we're coming from Italy where things were cheaper. The staff was excellent. Happy. Attentive. Over all an excellent dining experience.

Late afternoon visit and the experience was just about average. Food was ok but nothing great. Service was well below expectations for the pricing and gave the impression that they could not care less if you were satisfied or not. I tried all the dishes we ordered as we kind of shared and only the veal was something I would order again. Fondue had too extreme a taste of alcohol but there is an option to order without so personally I would opt for without. Nothing to write home about really.

We were guests at the Pfistern with our American friends. As a resident of Lucerne, I only knew the restaurant from passing by. The service was friendly, warm and accommodating. The fondue suited us and our guests very much. By the way, the menu cards were available in German and English. We were also greeted very nicely. We'll definitely come back.

The condition is very rude, unfortunately I have already experienced this twice.

The pros: It’s right on the river if seated outdoors. The food is good and is traditional Swiss food if that’s what you’re looking for, and we were served quickly after we ordered. The cons: We were sandwiched between two other tables making it difficult to have a proper conversation, and our server was quite condescending when asked questions about the allergens in certain dishes. I wouldn’t return, but if you don’t have any dietary restrictions it’s a fine place.

Was good last year... too slow and weird ambience this time...(we were in the restaurant not the terrace). Could be seated outside but the waiter was not in a good mood so he seated us the worst place in an empty room. Shameful to charge for a cafeteria food while it could be so much better. The raclette cheese is not good and is way overpriced. Please go somewhere else if you have a choice. The lunch waiters (30th September) in the restaurant must change their attitude if they want to work in hospitality.

Service hectic and unfriendly, the food was mediocre: too little sauce on the salad, the Älpler magrone was sometimes hard, too little sauce, the price-performance ratio wasn't right. Wouldn't go there anymore.

Once and never again! The waiter was completely overwhelmed with our order, but we ordered it exactly as it was written on the menu. As a waiter you should know what is on the menu. There were stains on the beer glass, luckily I was able to exchange it. My friend wanted whiskey and cola and some strange drink was brought, which was anything but whiskey. Pure waste of money. Were very upset. I wouldn't recommend.

As a tourist when I was searching authentic food and popular restaurants google recommended this place. Me and my kids were super happy with the food and highly recommend this place. I was little disappointed with the service as they made us feel sad with their unhappy face looking at us. The lady who attended us didn't even smile when we greeted and thanked her at last. This sort of behaviour in tourist places was really surprising us. Tourists are tourists no matter from which part we come from and should be equally treated.

ASIANS DO NOT COME TO THIS PLACE! I have been to different restaurants in the world and they said this place has the best cheese fondue so I came to try. The food overall is okay. HOWEVER, I have never seen such a disrespectful waiter who racists my family (we are Asians). He made fun of my family while we asked him to take photo for us, and he even laughed loudly with other customers and those people even LOOKED at my table and have that criticism, judging look. I am pretty sure that guy underestimated my family as Asian people! I hope the restaurant will realize how serious it is when you guys racist us. Even when the food is good, the attitude and the manner of that waiter is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE AND UNFRIENDLY.

Don't eat here!!! I had dinner here with my family (my family is from Vietnam). We were treated so unfriendly and degradingly, it was almost racist! We were gossiped about behind our backs and not a single waiter came by after serving to ask about our well-being. Absolutely hideous!!! Overpriced too. So cheeky.

Yesterday, on my wife's birthday, we were in beautiful Lucerne with our two children and decided on the Pfister restaurant. We got a place straight away without a reservation. At first everything was good. We were politely served by the waitress and received our drinks and food relatively promptly. However, something was always missing, which wasn't so bad because the waitress quickly took care of it. When we decided on dessert, my wife was surprised by some attention from the house because they noticed that my wife was celebrating her birthday. However, when I saw the bill, we were simply charged for the supposed attention of the house and I found that really bold and will no longer recommend the restaurant. Also the prices were overpriced and the food was mediocre.

Were treated rudely, doesn't give correct answers and got dirty dishes. Only bad. I'm very very disappointed. Dishes were simply held out to me and drinks were also swapped. The Alpine macarons were cream-free and dry.

Amassing cheese fondue right on the water. You can't beat it. Good price and kid friendly with a good varietal menu.

Unfortunately the staff is quite unfriendly. The food was good, but overpriced and the wait was long. The ambience would be nice in itself, but tourists practically stand at the table and are happy to lean on the guests' chairs if necessary.

We were here for lunch. We got a really great table without a reservation. By chance we then discovered the “lunch offer”. This consisted of a large green salad with a very tasty dressing, a really tasty soup and a main course of your choice (veggie-meat-fish). The service was very friendly and accommodating. Unbeatably good and fair price.
